Came down to Coney Island to check out the famous hotdog. The ride from Manhattan was about one and half hours on the Q line. Get off Coney Island exit. It's very easy to order with the machine. They'll call your name when order is ready. We tried the Hot Dog (a must!) and I opted for every topping. It was pretty good. The best was the chicken finger which was freshly fried. I've been going to Nathan's for a very, very, very long time. This particular occasion I got chicken wings which I don't normally get but they were pretty good. I normally get a hot dog and fries. Both of which are very good. I love that you get like a little red fork with your french fries that's probably one of my favorite core memories when I was growing up. Cause I would always find a Nathans red fork somewhere in my house months after we had last been there. I've heard they revamped the interior of the store, but I haven't been there since they still had their old layout. I don't know if the food is for everyone but it's a pretty big Brooklyn staple and you should just check it out at least once or twice. I 100% would have angrily demanded a replacement of the thing for the item I was actually trying to order, except that that would entail a THIRD 20-minute wait in line. 3) The terrible shade in the seating. It looks like umbrellas? Nope, they're at random angles and completely immovable, and pretty small. You're lucky if two seats at the table are shaded. For a beach-side location, this is a critical failure. Also, it's adjacent (with no barrier/fence) to a busy road, which makes wrangling small children a nightmare. This place gets a lot of hype, but we were disappointed. First of all, the lines were insane and moved at a snail's pace. They split you into two different lines depending on what you're ordering, so if you want a burger and a hot dog, you're out of luck. You have to wait in both lines. They have kiosks you can order from, but there's also a line for that. They were severely understaffed, and it took a long time for our food to come out. Nathan's famous is obviously a must when going to coney island. Prices are surprisingly reasonably in my opinion, and the quality of the food was great. There was a really long line when I was there on a sunny monday afternoon and it took us a little bit to get our food, but im sure it depends on what time of day you go that will impact that. The french fries were SO good, and the fried clams we got to share weren't bad either. Obviously the hot dogs are a must! It's really like any old school fast food stop, but theres a lot of history and all the signage is so cute, definitely recommend to hot dog enthusiasts or anyone headed to the beach/boardwalk! read more

WHAT A TREAT!!!! I finally got to Coney Island, and had lunch at the Original Nathan's Hot Dog restaurant!!! There are SO many lines to get in, on either side of the restaurant. On one side, you can order burgers, seafood, chicken, or cheesesteak. On the other side you can order hotdogs, fries, drinks and beer. The lines move pretty quickly. I do appreciate the fact that the person who takes your order also packs your order. Everything is very clean and thorough StarKeisha was so very helpful and patient in a chaotic environment. The hotdog cooker actually places the dog in the bun, upside down on the griddle. The order packet takes the hotdog paper holder and places it in the hotdog on the grill and puts everything in a small box so you can easily carry your items out. There's plenty of ketchup and mustard stations outside the open-aired facility.(napkins too) There are several tables available to eat outside as well. Forgotten about with clam chowder flung at you might be a little bit easy to look past seeing they were accidents but adding cold food on top of that is just not right. This didn't really bother me all that much considering I hate clams I get it was hot and what he did was instinct tells you to do. Then forgetting about our order then questioning it didn't bother me that much either as I wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere. The part that was over the top was our cold food like I don't expect much from a fast food concept ever as I hardly ever eat it and even fewer review it as I'd rather spend my money elsewhere, but you can't go to Coney Island and not try Nathan's or yes you can because this was bad like bad bad. So our food the onion rings we ordered were cold soggy and just pathetically bad clearly they were sitting for a very long time. The Hells Kitchen Burger wasn't spicy it was cold and mediocre and definitely the second worst thing we ordered as it just needed more sauce jalapeños and to be hot! My friends and I stopped by Nathan's after a trip to the New York Aquarium. We ordered some chili and bacon cheese hot dogs with some chicken tenders. The chili cheese hot dog was really salty, so I think I prefer just the regular hot dog. I was fortunately bundled up but nothing was going to stop my getting to the restaurant at Surf/Stillwell. We go in to see that people are eating inside and there are not many places to eat at. I'd never actually eaten at this, the famous Nathan's Famous by the boardwalk. Mostly because it's perpetually packed in the summer, and I've still managed to eat dozens of Nathan's hot dogs over the years. I never felt the need. But we were nearby, and it was not just the only eatery open on a cold, rainy non-summer Sunday in Coney Island, but it was empty. So we went for it...and were pleasantly shocked at the quality of the food. Not only were these hot dogs the best Nathan's hot dogs I've ever had (I got chili on one, which I inhaled in 5 seconds flat), but the chicken fingers were startlingly crisp and tasty.
