Each one of their employees can be commended for high quality service. Ray was very helpful in providing an education and not a hard sell. Amber from beginning to end was prompt and pleasant, always getting back to me with accurate answers. Jose, head of their roofing crew, was equally good at answering my questions and estimating arrival and departure times. (BTW Having the same company do the roof prep and the solar installation was a real plus for us. If something goes wrong with the roof in the future, there will be no finger-pointing.) The installation crew, beginning with TJ and Lorenzo, cared about their work with obvious pride in how they arranged the conduit on our house. One of the best parts of the whole process was the fire department inspector complimenting the quality of the design and work at final inspection. Oh god, where to start... I got pointed to Nationwide Sun by an acquaintance in my neighborhood who had just had his system installed that day. He is an engineer, so I piggybacked off of his research (and nerding out over the panel specs). I was in the market, so I thought what the hell, might as well do it and get ahead of NEM 3. I reached out to Michael and got to work building out a system. We went through a few layouts together finally settling on an 8 kW system with 20 panels. I was honestly astonished at the price of the system. I had a system quoted two years ago and the prices now have dropped substantially. Seriously, if it's been a while since you quoted solar; do it again! The problem is, I needed to get my roof replaced before I could have the system installed. So, we wrapped up the solar contract while I worked separately on getting my roof replaced (see my Newhous roofing review). Michael and Ryan kept in constant contact while that was going on so they could schedule their permitting and installation for immediately after the roof was finished, and that's just what they did. Ray took over managing the project. Their installers came out and worked quickly and professionally. They finished the install in a day including cleanup and the system was running. My initial inquiry was at the beginning of September and I had a new roof and solar panels installed by the end of the month! Was that the end though? They already had my money, after all. That's where things got fun. I had solar on my roof, now I needed to get permitting finished and get connected to the grid. I had no idea what to expect from the process as I had never gone through this before (and I suspect that anyone looking for solar hasn't either). Randy from the permitting department took over and walked me through every step of the way. If I had a question, I'd have an answer almost immediately. Seriously, I don't answer text messages as fast as he answers my emails. It took about two weeks for the placard from the city and the final inspection to be complete. The entire time Randy was letting me know where, what we were waiting for, and when it was scheduled. When the final inspection day came for the city to look at the work, one of their techs came over an hour ahead of time to walk through the system to make sure everything was perfect, and it was. Now came the part with PG&E and now my fifth contact at the company, Bennette. As is now what I realize the norm for this company, I have a fifth contact that is amazingly responsive and walks me through what is happening in the background and leads the process with PG&E to completion. In less than two months, I went from taking my dog for a walk and talking to a neighbor to having a new roof with a new solar system fully connected to the grid for less than I could have imagined. Was that the end though? Oh no. Just this week (about a month after I'm fully hooked up) I receive a hard backed binder from Nationwide Sun in the mail that includes my receipt, photos of my roof with the system installed, the full permit package from the city, the final permit record with final inspection signatures, detailed information for everything they installed on my house, and a copy of the warranty information for the system. Nationwide Sun did a great job with my solar panel project where they installed 23 panels on my house. They saw it all the way through until completion with final inspection with the city of San Leandro and the solar contract with PGE. They also have a great electrician who did a really clean install of a subpanel for me. I was extremely pleased with the end result that I had them do my Mom's house which was a 14 panel system. I look forward to working with them in the future when I am ready for a battery. read more

We had Nationwide Sun install 13 rooftop panels in January and we couldn't be happier!  Our electric bills have been "negative -- nothing due" in every month, even with several cloud covered days. I can not speak enough about the professionalism of this company.  The whole process went smoothly from start to finish.  All the original planning was handled on-line:  the number of panels needed, their locations on our roof, the estimated percentage of our electric bill that would be generated by the panels, etc.  Shortly after we agreed to the proposed plan, their team was here to install the panels and the inverter box, and the whole installation was done is just over one day and it looks beautiful.  It has generated over 3 megawatts in about 3 months. In the past we had solar in a previous house in El Dorado Hills which was about the same size as this house (~ 2150 square feet).  The sales staff for that company -- which I will not mention by name -- badgered us non stop to install 31panels on a 20 year lease.  Those panels didn't cover  even half our electric bill and the lease payments ate up all our savings on electricity. You won't get that kind of abusive treatment from Nationwide Sun.  The company is really high on integrity and a pleasure to work with.  Every person we spoke with was courteous and responded promptly to every request we made.  From planning to installation, I don't think there is a better company out there.  I recommended them without any reservation read more

I am a fastidious grumpy old lawyer with a 5000ft.+ house which can flood in a storm and power outage. Coming up on the winter I needed a quick reliable generator installation - not easy to find - but found it with Frank and his crew. I've had various experiences with past back up power and solar installations ranging from one end of the spectrum to the other. This experience was, by far, the best. To begin with Frank does sound planning and engineering and then his crew executes to a very high standard. Even more, they do it pleasantly. My next move is to have Nationwide Sun install solar. Finding an outfit this good and 'low profile' for major installations was a stroke of great luck. read more

Working with Frank and his company was outsanding in every way and far surpassed my expectations. I researched solar companies for 3 years because of the large purchase it was, and settled on two finalists. Nationwide sun came out of nowhere for me because they don't advertise like most others. They do more commercial solar and other related jobs within the communities they are in. Frank and his company are a company that adds significantly to the community in which they are. He is the type of person who is on city councils and helping community leadership to make decisions and being asked to do big jobs or fix jobs that someone else did wrong. After we met him and learned more about his heart and passion for the work he does, he was the clear choice for us and I honestly have never met a person running a company that I could recommend as highly at this point in my life experience. He and his company stay so busy it would be a blessing just to get a chance to hire him. Premium quality, premium service, premium customer relations. He is the real real--and nationwide sun is the real deal. They were also the most reasonable cost I found as well when it all boiled down to it because they don't do marketing. If and when he and his crew do residential solar, its all based on word of mouth--which is why there aren't many reviews for them in the first place. I had a great experience with the team at Nationwide Solar, they were responsive in giving me a reasonable quote and I was amazed how fast they moved from when I signed the contract to when they installed my stem. Frank was great when he came to my home to verify if solar could be put on. Ryan and Michael and all of the installers were great and told me what was happening as they went. It took about two weeks from signed contract to Nationwide Solar to install my panels, they handled all of the inspections with the City and I just received my PTO today less than a month from when they finished the install and had the final inspection. I would recommend Nationwide Solar I was glad I was able to find a local installer that did all of the work in house. What sold me on this company was being local, did not have pushy sales people, and Frank and the rest of his employees knew what they were talking about. read more
