Bart H. Power failures here are infrequent but we had a solar installation with battery backup because my wife is dependent on medical equipment. When our installation failed and both the manufacturer and the installer were out of business I contacted José to install a replacement. He sent his crew who installed an Enphase system. When we had our first power failure the battery backup failed. José then sent Robert to try to determine what was going on. He determined that the system had been installed incorrectly and that one control component they had installed was inappropriate for the system that was installed. Robert replaced the incorrect component and reinstalled the system. There was a several week delay before Robert was able to fully activate the system while José acquired certification with Enphase to work on that system. During that time I decided to add a second battery bank. José quoted me $1,000 for a second bank but charged me $7,000. When Robert was finally able to try activating the system (March of this year -- 2025) he could not get either of the battery banks to function. A couple of weeks later, Enphase sent a technician who was able to verify that both battery banks were bad. I have seen nobody from Sunwave Energy since March and, as of this date (19 July) we still have a non-functioning battery backup. José has been paid in full for the system and attempted to push it onto me to deal with Enphase to get the issue sorted out. I advised him that, before I deal directly with Enphase, he needs to deliver an operative system. At this point, I have documentable payments to José for about $32,000. José has stopped returning my calls and I will be meeting with an attorney next week to review my options. read more

I have to said I'm very impressed of way both Jeff and Jose go out of their way for their customer. I hired them to remove and reinstall my solar panels and there were some broken roof tile when they are up there. Instead of walk away they took care of the broken tiles and replaced it for me with no charge even they didn't break it!! That is amazing. Jeff is so knowledgeable and super helpful and nice. He goes the extra miles to make sure everything goes well and when he saw an uncap electric wire on the side of my yard he even cap it for me with no charge. We contracted Sunwave to replace our pool solar panels and install a solar controller. Jose was very responsive in all parts of the sales and installation process. What really impressed me, and the reason why I'm giving 5 stars, is the "service after the sale." There was an aesthetic part with the install we did not love. I let Jose know and, no questions asked, he came out and fixed it immediately. There was another issue with how the system functioned that turned out to have nothing to do with the install (pool panel problem). Jose patiently worked with me to get it figured out. It's really rare these days to find a company that will stand by their quality and help a buyer after they get paid, and Sunwave is that rare company. Initially my wife and I were only looking at pool solar, and out of the previous three vendors we spoke to we had pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that we weren't going to go with any solar at all. The three previous vendors either didn't come across right, couldn't get their numbers correct, or just didn't have their act together. That was until we talked to Sun Wave energy. Jose arrived on time was very easy-going, laid-back, no pressure. As we were talking he did happen to mention electrical solar for the house... We hadn't really considered it due to the fact that we had looked into it previous years and at the time it did not make financial sense. However with the programs that Jose had access to, plus a very generous veteran discount, this was a no-brainer. We ended up going both with the pool and the home solar together as a package, therefore only one low payment. Our first month of home solar decreased our electric bill by more than 80%. The installation was very timely, everything went for the most part, very well (there was one broken solar panel when the installers had shown up, however it was replaced in a very short amount of time); The installers were courteous professional hard-working and made sure that the job was done right and done right the first time. We cannot be more happy with both the pool and the electrical solar from Sun Wave... We certainly would go with them again if we ever moved or had another house in the area. Sunwave was awesome. The subcontractor they assigned my project to was horrible. I bought by residential solar system through Sunwave. Since I didn't know anything about solar systems, I did a lot of online research to figure out what size system would be appropriate for my usage. I had a pretty good idea of the size system I required prior to talking to any sellers. I purposely don't mention that I did any research and "play dumb" when I talk to the sales reps to see if they try to upsell me a system. Jose was the most honest and straightforward person I talked to. SMUD is my electric provider, and they still have pretty good rates. Jose even recommended that I don't buy a battery system because the extra cost isn't justified with my energy rates and the current NEM structure. He recommended that I purchase just enough panels to meet my daily energy demand, and his calculations based on my past year's energy usage was spot on with my research estimates. When I committed to the sale, I was told it would probably take about 4 - 6 weeks for a fully operational system. My contract was assigned to Infinity Energy...and from there, my experience was frustrating. After signing the contracts and paying initial costs, communication basically stopped. I received an occasional call from Infinity stating they were still waiting for materials. Fast forward to 2 months later, I get a call from Jose, and he basically tells me Infinity is a sinking ship, they have the solar panels, but they can't get any installers to do the work. He offers to take the contract back over, and he has the ability to get installers out to my house within a few days. He meant what he said, and the installers were extremely professional and had my system installed within a few days. It took another few weeks until SMUD installed a meter and gave the OK to connect to the grid. My solar has been online for a few months now, and I am very satisfied with my system. The size is perfect, as it covers all my daytime usage and I am barely exporting energy out to the grid (as designed). read more

My wife and I purchased solar from Jose at sunwave energy 2 years ago. We went with him because of his knowledge of solar and responsiveness. He answered a ton of questions quickly and was open and honest about the process. We also got a killer rate for financing with his bank. Fast forward to a month ago and we had our inverter go down. I have been looking to upgrade my solar for some time. Initially, my solar was great, but as time went on and PGE kept raising rates, my bills got progressivley higher. I had a quote for 42k to ADD to my current system a few years ago, which I wasn't going to pay. I contacted these guys when my true up was almost 9k this year! Turns out my inverter stopped working a year ago and never sent energy to the grid...Arrghh, and I had no way to monitor this as my solar was put in over 10 years ago. I reached out to Jose due to an issue with my Solar System not generating power. He was extremely responsive and even came out after hours to help trouble shoot the system. After finding the issue he walked through the different scenarios to correct the issue. My system was outdated, the company that installed it is no longer in business and parts are not easily accessible. Not only did Jose make it easy he found the replacement parts stuffed away in some warehouse hours away and picked them up. On top of this, Jose's installers, Jeff and Chris, come out on a Sunday afternoon to swap the parts out and get me up and running.
