She offered to use the money I paid for the fitting fee towards the purchase of contacts. I went in for a follow-up appointment today. The doctor did a quick exam of my new contacts and gave me a replacement for the one I was having trouble with. As promised, they credited my lens fitting fee towards the purchase of my yearly supply of lenses. In addition, they gave me pair of sunglasses! Brittany and the staff made a very nice recovery. I am now a satisfied customer. Thanks AZ Eye Care! ORIGINAL REVIEW 7/9/2017 My exam was 100% covered by insurance. However, they charged me a $199 CONTACT LENS FITTING FEE that insurance covered 10%. Dr. Stern suggested a different brand of contact lenses instead of B&L citing that they had "better optics." However, this appears to be a brand of lenses, lubrication drops, supplements, etc. that he is promoting. If I had decided to stay with my old lenses, they wouldn't have charged the fee. The $199 fitting fee should have been disclosed up front. A mechanic wouldn't do work on your car without first giving an estimate, and a medical doctor wouldn't do a procedure on you without first checking insurance coverage. I feel a bit stung by the process. Otherwise, the staff was nice, and my appointment ran on time.

Over priced with insurance I paid way more than I would've elsewhere without insurance. It has also negatively affected my vision considerably. After examining my eyes, Shibata stated that my vision has diminished considerably in one eye (duh !!! That's why I came in. The eye that got something in it !!!). I agreed with him and AGAIN stated that it began the day after I got something in my eye that caused severe stinging, burning and vision impairment. His response.... "But you really didn't get anything in your eye." .....WTF !!!! I guess he thinks I'm to ignorant to really know when something actually gets into my eye. Or maybe he thinks he was really there with me when it happened...... !!!! Don't go see them, or let them examine you !!

I was sent to a doctor in Phoenix who quickly referred me to Dr Maynard, who was an expert with my specialised needs. He was so amazingly excellent and knowledgable. I love the entire staff and have always had the absolute best experiences I was so nervous when Dr. Maynard retired, but Dr. Heffelfinger has continued to give excellent care to us and any nervousness I had about him retiring has vanished. I have absolute zero problem with driving 2.5 hours for my appointments. They are worth it and have always been able to work with my schedule. I called the day before my appointment to confirm since I had not received any request for insurance or paperwork. They didn't have an appointment for me with that doctor at that time. If it is that hard to just get an appointment, then I don't want to deal with them with my cataract surgery.
