    Lower Greenville

Hmmm, so much to say about this place. The location is on Greenville in the old Carte Blanche space…read moreacross from Trader Joe's. They offer complimentary valet parking which is a big plus since parking in this area is hectic. The service was friendly the timing of the food was good. The food itself could use some improvement. I ordered the salmon and crab cake appetizer. The crab cake appetizer was mushy and tasted like canned crab this was disappointing. The salmon was plated with lentils and a vegetable. However, it lacked flavored and consistent temperature through out the salmon. One friend had the Mac and cheese which needed salt and pepper, meat balls which were okay and the flat bread which was decent. Then there was my friend that had the branzino which I had a small bite - it was okay. Then she ordered the octopus and it was chewy all tried it. So why the 2 rating. We all felt unwell after we left the place. The effect was felt within the first hour of leaving through the night. Something was off in the meal. We imagine it was the octopus. It could have been an off night but I will likely not return.

I also like that valet was complimentary since finding parking in lower greenville can be a nightmare. As for the food, we generally found it underwhelming. I personally ordered the octopus and branzino. The octopus was described as a dish that melts in your mouth-- it did not. It was chewy (but had a good sauce) and it was the one dish that all 3 of us ate, and all 3 of us had stomach issues. The branzino was fine but wasn't exactly spectacular. It cane with an option of two sauces. I chose the caper and chardonnay mushroom. I found this particular aspect unique and the sauces did taste good. The branzino also came with broccolini which tasted good but was cold. As for my companions dishes. I did not try them but I understood the lobster mac and cheese was underseasoned, the Crab cake was mainly breading and tasted like canned Crab, the pepperoni on the flatbread was off, and the salmon did not taste good. No comments, positive or negative, were made for the meatballs. All in all, I likely would not try this establishment again.

The food was outstanding. The appetizers were family style. The only thing that wasn't a hit was the ravioli stuffed with goat cheese. No one at my table really cared for that. Everything else was great. And of course, the entrées were really good. We all took our desserts to go. Oh, I will say that the salad was starting to brown which was very unexpected for Ocean Prime. The wait staff was very attentive and the presentation was informative. Everyone was in agreement that a nice time was had.

Everything after that went downhill fast. The crab cakes were giving Saltgrass on an off night..heavy on filler, light on crab, and completely forgettable. Then came the entrées. The Chilean sea bass looked like a showstopper; perfect sear, beautiful presentation--and tasted like absolutely nothing. Not under-seasoned... unseasoned. The potato purée somehow managed to be both watery and bland, which feels like a choice. The scallops? Same story. Technically flawless sear, zero flavor. It's almost impressive how consistently everything coming off the fish station looked perfect and tasted like air. The pea risotto was aggressively one-note--just peas, no balance, no depth, none of that creamy, cohesive richness risotto is supposed to have. For $375 with tip, this wasn't just disappointing, it was offensive. The whole meal read less "elevated dining" and more "retirement home with a plating budget." I'll take Saltgrass next time..and that's not a compliment.

Bathrooms are cute, clean, and well stocked. What I didn't care for... I received my Mongolian beef early. My husband didn't get his orange chicken for 20ish minutes. I had a few bites but waited, we typically eat together. After 15 minutes, the eggrolls came out hot and fresh, now my food is getting cooler and the hubby still hasn't received his meal. All of this to say, consider making the easier dish later so they can be done together or hold meals until they can be served together. There was a long wait between food delivery, drink refills, and check, but in our servers defense: he was the only one serving, and it got busy for lunch. I may try it again when in the area

Excellent food, but the organization missed the mark…read more We made a 2:00 PM reservation on Christmas Day and arrived expecting a relaxed dining experience. Instead, we were greeted with a 15-minute countdown to place our order--followed shortly after by the announcement that the restaurant closes at 2:30 PM, which came after the food was served. From a hospitality standpoint, this felt less like a reservation and more like a timed challenge. If the kitchen and dining room need to wrap up by 2:30, a last reservation of 1:00 PM would better align expectations and allow guests to actually enjoy the meal. Great food deserves a service experience that lets it shine.

Even at 9 PM, the mood in the restaurant was lively and active. They also had a good selection of beer and adult drinks, including some top shelf brands. I thought there was something special going on, but it wasn't. It was just away the establishment makes additional parking in the front of the restaurant, but there is sufficient parking in the back of the restaurant if you don't mind parking yourself. We went for oyster shots which wee about $10 per shot which included an oyster ZingZang, and your choice of vodka. The service was fast and friendly, but I highly recommend you pay for a side shot, for the oyster shot alone is not strong. We did not purchase food so this rating is based on the experience, bar, and service. I didn't think it was fair to give them a four because we did not eat. My plan is to return for a full meal and update this review if needed. The ambiance included a live band and people dancing next to the stage. .The items that came out of the kitchen all looked tasty and the menu prices were reasonable. This place specializes in seafood: boil, grilled, and fried. The plates ranged from $10 to $30 books.
