Rex's is a staple at the Dallas Farmer's Market. They have been serving delicious eats since late 2015 and other than an expanded menu, not much as changed. It continues to be a go to for me when I'm looking for something tasty, somewhat healthy and relatively quick. My favorites are the seafood tacos (you choose the protein and how you want it prepared), the Atlantic Salmon w/raspberry chipotle sauce and Beau's Salmon Salad. Whether dining in or getting it to go, the quality of the item is always the same. Ordering is done at the front counter. That said if there is open seating at the bar, they will gladly take your order from there. Regardless, the staff is always friendly, and helpful; answering any and all questions. When dining in, they do a good job of checking on the customers, keeping water glasses filled along with offering other beverages (wine and beer are available for purchase). read more

I ordered the crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fries were nice and crisp. The sandwich was cooked to perfection but it lacked flavor. I know with seafood you're supposed to not overly season it but this started out with flavor and then halfway through it lost flavor. If I ever visit again, I'll order what my friend ordered which was a pound of shrimp. They were season and blackened at a cost of about $5 extra. The staff were nice and cool. Bar seating only as the restaurant is located inside of the Farmer's Market. It's a neat area. read more

Won a ReXs gift card from a giveaway a while back , so I was excited to finally whip it out. With the weather warming up, we decided to head over to the Dallas Farmers Market and enjoy the patio seating. We ordered a dozen oysters, fish tacos, and a crab cake sandwich. The oysters and crab cake sandwich were enjoyable, but unfortunately the fish tacos were extremely salty. I ended up requesting a refund for them. The staff did offer to remake the dish or replace it with something else, which I appreciated, but we chose not to reorder. Overall, a mixed experience--great atmosphere and friendly service, but the food was a bit hit-or-miss. read more

My food was fresh and hot! I do feel like I could have had more bacon.. but hey I guess. There's loads veggies we're good as well. There's loads of parking. Street, lot and paid lots but be mindful this is in the farmers market and depending on when you go, you might be lucked out with that. After four years working around downtown Dallas, I've only recently discovered some of the gems south of the Government District. I tip my hat to developers building up the Farmer's Market and surrounding area; this is a great place to visit! I've visited many of the shops and dined at various establishments, but Rex's is a staple offering family friendly seafood options. Stop by during happy hour for reduced beverages and food. While the presentation is not flashy (paper plates, ketchup packets, etc.) the food is solid and discounted oysters on the half shell are a great way to start! My lobster roll was tasty and the ambiance was chill; just want I wanted. While it can often feel a bit shady going south of 30, I highly recommend stopping by the Farmers Market shops and restaurants! Decided to take a trip to the farmers market and enjoy happy hour oysters at Rex's. Sat at the bar, order 1/2 a dozen oysters and a pound of crawfish. The oyster during happy hour are $2 each (I wasn't given an option but folks sitting on the other side of the bar were so not sure how that works), crawfish was $8.99 a pound. Although I got plenty of crawfish and some were a good size, they tasted overcooked and the only seasoning I could taste was what was poured on top of them (not how I prefer my crawfish). Also ordered the kids fish & chips. Nice portions, fries were perfect and the fish was good as well. Will return. The French Open is on their four tv monitor (the last match of the day - well past 10 pm in Paris: Džumhur v Alcaraz), so we stopped for a drink. Counter service by a few energetic young people, professional and proficient. They grind their own horseradish, which is great - it tastes so so good. Three kinds of oyster we tried: Great White of MA: light Birch Point of ME: flavorful - our favored Irish Point of PEI: they're good (Prince Edward Island) We'd have more but can't - have an Italian dinner at 6, and we've to go. Does the increasing efficient shipping service makes it possible for anyone to realize their dream business - Dallas, and Texas in that matter is a landlocked region. But what do I know. ... Alcaraz won in four, on his second match point, near 5pm Dallas time. I'd think Friday evening is a hopping time in the city but it feels dead, the mall is pretty empty. Where's everyone? They have a nice little corner carved out for themselves in the Dallas Farmers Market building. While I have been a fan of Rex's for years, this was my first visit to their Dallas Farmers Market location. They have managed one of the hardest things to do in the industry, and that is to maintain consistency across locations. I ordered my favorite thing they do, and that is the Connecticut style Lobster Roll. Just like at their other locations, it is about as good as it gets in this part of the country! The food at Rex's is always spectacular. While I typically order the Fish & Chips which is really, really good, I decided to try the Steamer Bowl. OMG! Was it delicious. The food was poor and the service was pretty slow and unremarkable. We ordered frose, shrimp cocktail, 6 oysters, lobster grilled cheese and bacon wrapped scallops. The shrimp and frose were the only things that were actually good. Everything was very expensive too. The lobster grilled cheese was a huge disappointment. There was hardly any cheese- it was actually more like a regular sandwich than a grilled cheese...It also had avocado on it which i thought was weird and not needed. I'm someone who loves avocado it just wasn't needed with the lobster. The lobster itself was dry and tasted old. I actually had to ask for some butter to make it better. The butter actually helped a ton and they should have just served it that way. The sandwich also came out already cold and just really underwhelming. It came with a side of fries and they were 10 times better than the sandwich. The bacon wrapped scallops were also a disappointment. They are very expensive so that was a bummer. You get 3 large scallops for $18. I also didn't know they would be served with a cream sauce. First of all, scallops are so mild that between the sauce and the bacon you couldn't taste it. I had to take the bacon off and eat it separately so i could taste the delicate scallop. I could see them being cooked together but don't eat them together. Also the spinach on the plate was just weird. Poor presentation. I'm honestly surprised with how busy this place is with how poor the seafood is. The oysters were also unpleasantly salty- way too much brine. This was our first time having new england oysters and they were not pleasant. We love the hama hama oysters from the pnw. Some mignonette sauce would have helped the oysters as well. I dont know if dallas just doesn't have or know good seafood, but this is not it. The food is crappy and over priced. read more

This was our first time here. I didn't realize that it was inside the farmers market, which was an awesome surprise because we had out of town visitors with us. It's a really nice spot with a bar. Just go up to the counter and order food, take the number and put it on your table. They'll bring the food to you. I had the lobster roll. That was delicious. The lobster was juicy and the roll itself was soft, fluffy and buttery. I wasn't too much of a fan of their Manhattan clam chowder, but everything else was solid. On my most recent visit, I ordered a hot lobster roll and it came out with half imitation crab inside, plus the expected lobster meat (tail and claw). When I want a proper lobster roll, I am willing to pay for what it costs instead of paying a little less for a product that withholds like this. read more

Here is what we ordered: Sweet Potato Fries $3: I originally did not want these, but after seeing it on someone else's plate, I decided to give it a try. This was only $3 and the portion as well worth the price! These were very crispy on the edges and had the perfect about of seasoning. I would definitely get these again! Fried Calamari $14: These were very crispy. Some were too thin that it was dry but others were light and chewy. The lettuce mixed in made it a bit soggy, but the marinera was a plus! Overall, I would want to revisit and try some of their main dishes. If these were just the sides, I can't imagine how good the main dishes would be. read more
