I was surprised to find out that they have pre-mixed saltwater for a dollar a gallon!!!! That's the cheapest I've seen in the area. They also sell RO/DI water for 20 cents a gallon. Once again, an AMAZING price! While there, I actually saw different invertebrates that I've never seen before for sale. Also, a staff member spoke to me and gave me some solid advice on the hobby. The staff member actually spoke to me for about a good 20-25 minutes. They have coral frags for as cheap as $9.99 or 3 for 24.99 and up. Surprisingly they had some decent coral in the $9.99 area. Honestly, if this "LFS" was closer, I would probably go back before the end of next week...

Unfortunately I never got to meet the "Ginger" person mentioned in other reviews, but my experience was great customer service from a knowledgeable young lady. She stopped tending to the aquariums and helped us out a lot. I love how she shared her own knowledge too including her recent successful beta breeding. So exciting. I will definitely come back here for my fish needs.

Although they normally have one person manning each area. I've had to come back to the fish area a couple of times and if you have a curious customer or several customers in front expect to wait. I'm sure if you are in a rush you could run down another employees. Items seem to be well stocked. Only once did I come here and not find what I was looking for. Apparently they missed a shipment and was told to come back on a specific following day. I showed up a week later and sure enough what I was looking for was available.

My 3 cats are much like bratty children...each must get an EQUAL portion of food or it's anarchy. So if I mention a kitchen scale purchase in a future review, you know what its for. Perform Ultra (Grain free): Favorite flavors are the Salmon Bisque and Chicken Stew. Whenever I feed my cats, I feel as if I should be wearing an apron and checking back to see "if everything is tasting ok." Any attempts that I've made to change it up and sneak in a can of Friskies has resulted in looks of contempt and the silent treatment from all. I can't recall the cost of each brand, because the more I see the price, the more I'm convinced that my cats eat better than I do. Pet Supermarket is conveniently located close to home, and is always well-stocked and clutter-free, making it all the more easier to be the "humble servant" that I am. On-top of a massive fish/coral/tank setup selection the staff is amazing here. Particularly Mr. Helms, who always goes above and beyond to take care of any questions I have with my tank or a knowledge opinion on proper care. I've kept saltwater long enough to know that livestock dies sometimes and it isn't always the…read moreshop's fault. This wasn't that. Yesterday I picked up two emerald crabs here. One was dead by the time I got home. Today I bought three pajama cardinals. I drip acclimate everything, and partway through the drip, two of the three were clearly going downhill. Not ordinary settling-in stress, but failing. I called the store, explained what I was seeing, and they told me to bring them in. The diagnosis came quickly once I got there: my salinity was 1.019, and the fish had been shocked during acclimation. On that basis they credited me for one of the two dying fish and I absorbed the other. Store credit, not a refund. What bothers me is where the 1.019 came from. They tested the bag I'd carried the fish back in, and I had filled that bag from my own display tank. Same water, two readings: 1.019 on their instrument, 1.024 on my digital meter at home, calibrated before I used it. One of those numbers is wrong. That wasn't an academic disagreement. It decided who paid. Their reading put my tank out of range, so the loss became mine, and the portion they did cover came back as credit that only spends at the shop that sold me the fish. Three of five animals in two days, and an explanation resting on a measurement a calibrated meter contradicts. There are other places to buy livestock around Gainesville and I'll be using them.

I have shopped at Poseidon for about a year now and this is my go to place for all things fish…read more They have a huge selection of freshwater and saltwater fish, plants, rocks, fish food, any kind of supplies that you need for your aquarium, and knowledgeable staff. I have never had a fish die and they don't even require quarantine. their prices are reasonable, which also makes it worth the 30 minute drive out there. I bring in my own empty jugs and get RO water for $.50 a gallon. I know they have salt water also, but I don't have any saltwater fish so I can't speak to that. My only wish is that they would update their website because that more people would know how great this place is.
