I come here every couple of weeks to fill up my water jugs as I just dont like the way the water tastes out here. I've tried everything to adapt and even have had triple filtered water, but its still got the mineraly aftertaste and noticeable. So my solution to my picky tastebuds is to get filtered water from here for drinking. At 29 cents/gallon, its still the cheapest in town. I also like coming here to check out new items and to find old favorites. Tonight I found a new flavor of De La Calle Tepache and gave it a try! Not bad! I also sometimes come here to get Cafe Lalibela Ethiopian ready made freezer items, peppermint coffee, Rooibos teas, certain kinds of sourdough breads, and other brands I can only find at Natural Grocers. I like this location as its pretty low key, and never packed and I can usually get in and out pretty quickly. read more

I've noticed that some cashiers seem selective about who they greet with a "Hello Welcome in." I've personally experienced several occasions where I wasn't acknowledged at all, while white shoppers received friendly greetings. It's disappointing to feel overlooked like that. I'm surprised that, I'm just now doing a review as I shop here often. ‍ I like that, it's never packed, easy in and out and that they have lots of dairy free products, as well as, gluten free. I'm no health junkie but, there are "some things" that, I have to buy that, happens to be healthy. Cute little store carrying select grocery and fresh food items to accommodate specific diets and allergens. I've been coming here lately to purchase certain gluten free items such as Jovial brown rice pasta. They have a great little section of everything- similar to sprouts but more variety and expanded products within brands. Such as a bigger selection of Bob's Red Mill. This Colorado based grocery chain is kind of a cross between Whole Foods and Sprouts. Taking up residence where the Fresh and Easy used to be, the focus is on healthier, more sustainable/ethically sound food and products. There is a small but very fresh produce section that has all organic foods, but the main bulk of the store is focused on prepackaged goods such as vitamins and grains. The fresh meat section is also small but has high quality products such as Mary's farm chicken, grass fed beef and Niman Ranch pork. Service was warm and friendly. This feels like a scaled-down grocery store, so it's appropriate that Natural Grocers set up shop in what used to be a Fresh & Easy. I was surprised to see how limited the selection of fresh produce was, but even more surprised by the prices. Although you can find a great many of the same products at Sprouts, the prices here are more comparable to Whole Paycheck (cough!), I mean, Whole Foods. So that was the disappointing part of my first visit to Natural Grocers. That being said, there were plenty of interesting aspects of Natural Grocers that distinguish it a bit from its competitors. For one, the bulk products are pre-packaged and refrigerated, which doesn't mean much to me, but a co-worker commented on how she insisted that her flour be refrigerated (presumably because of the Phoenix climate), and so she was a big fan. Also, they have a respectable supplements department, which offered some different products that are somewhat underrepresented at Sprouts. However they still don't carry the awesome flavors of Plant Fusion's protein powders (Cookies N Cream or Chocolate Raspberry). For that, you have to make a special trip to Mom 'n Pop vitamin stores like Healthy Habit. I found a couple of treats that made my visit complete. They had an almond hummus (or is it properly called a Romesco sauce?) that is delicious on just about anything, and it's called "Bitchin' Sauce". Cheers for that... It is indeed bitchin'! And I liked that they recycled cardboard boxes for packing your groceries. I'll be back to browse some more for oddball items, but I can't be inclined to do any regular shopping here when I know so many things are overpriced. read more

Doug needs to work on his customer service skills. I've never had an employee yell at me that it's 10 minutes past close and they need to get started without so much as an utterance of some type of warning beforehand (the PA system is working well enough to page associates but evidently not to tell customers what time it is). Thankful we don't shop this location ever since it's a considerable distance from our home, but I'd be lying if I said this hasn't changed where we will be spending our money after tonight's experience. Maybe because he didn't see anything in my hands he thought it prudent to be passive aggressive to a woman appearing to shop alone, but I made sure to call my wife as soon as I got to the register and she was nowhere to be seen, so they could get to their closing duties that warranted harassing and demeaning someone who stopped out of convenience on the way home. Rest assured, we won't make that mistake again! We will be finding a new source for our Whole 30 compliant hash browns since NG doesn't value customer service like we should be able to expect. ‍ read more

Disappointed because this location has such a small dog food selection. They don't even carry the Honest Kitchen brand. The one in Gilbert has it and it's a smaller store. Staff are friendly and helpful here. Clean store just didn't have what I needed. read more

Great store with a variety of products. Some prices were a bit high. Store was very clean and all staff was disinfecting carts outside and everything inside too. Great to see them practicing social distancing and wearing masks and gloves. The patrons were nice too, no rudeness going on there like at other chain stores. I stopped in here last night as I was driving by. Never been so I thought I would see what they have to offer. Mostly vitamins but they do have other groceries. Their produce is pricey but they are a small store so that is understandable. Good selection of "natural" snacks and they sell evolution juices which are hard to come by. I was off put at first by the prices of their offerings but the more I walked the store and looked at the shelves the more I appreciated the items they do offer. I will be back. read more

Nice store that is clean and organized with friendly helpful employees. It's not nearly as big as Whole Foods nor do they have a deli, salad bar or prepared food section which is why I knocked off a star. They have a lot of supplements if that's what you're looking for. Their selection of vegan food is good but not vast. Same with most of their items because of its smaller size. Their produce department is very small. I love that they take the "hunt for organic" out of the equation. Some prices are inflated "Beyond" and "Daiya" products are priced less at larger stores, same with a few other products. That's my only gripe, that I can't call it my one stop shop. (10.99 for a 1 pound bag of frozen strawberries!) Produce super fresh, staff very friendly. As usual this place is the best neighborhood store. This morning my mom was in the store and she was kind of out of it. Luckily pam was there to save the day and help her out. She kept an eye on her. I showed up later and thanked her. Had to go in later and Tosh was there and suggested the natural grocers olive oil for me when I had grabbed another brand. Love it and it s more affordable. Let me start off by saying that I'm super excited that this gem of a store is here in Phoenix. I don't know where to start, I'm so excited to write this review. When I heard of Natural Grocers opening up, I decided to go and see what it's all about. I'm an avid organic food consumer and finding a store that's philosophy is to sell ONLY organic produce had me intrigued. I decided to read up about the company. So here are some of the great facts, they only sell organic produce. All of their dairy comes from pasture raised farms and they removed all confinement dairy off their shelves. Let me tell everyone, if you're looking for a big chain store, with a lot of options, this isn't the store for you. 1/2 of the store is filled with vitamins and supplements. If that's what you're looking for, come here, the prices are GREAT! The produce and meat section is small. You have a good assortment of items in the produce, but it's space constricted. The kombucha isle and cold brew coffee isle is amazing!! There are so many great selections and the prices trump all other grocery stores (even their sale prices). Another great thing about the store, they don't use bags. That's right, they stopped using bags in 2009 and if you don't bring your own bag or purchase a reusable one that they sell, you will be offered a cardboard box. Come and check it out for yourself. I love this place. First of all I want to personally thank the woman who spent time with me going over the perfect smoothie for my grandma who has breast cancer. She spent about 20 minutes going over all the great items she should put in her smoothie. The woman previously had breast cancer and was so open to helping me. I've been coming to this store since it opened. Very disappointed in their current lack of consistent procedures. Sometimes I'm suppose to bag my own items, sometimes they do it. There's often not enough room to bag my own with various items piled at the end of the check stand. Their solution? They hand each item to me over the counter to put it in my bag. They had a meeting mid day, only one register opened. And I got stuck behind an extreme couponer.

I went in yesterday, and it will be my last visit to this store. I couldn't find what I was looking for in the supplement isles. I had to flag a man down who worked there. He tried his best to ignore me but I got him to stop and try to help. Not only was he rude, but also ignorant of what the store set up and what they carry was. He finally said he'd get someone to help me and no one came. He later saw me and didn't both to ask if I had found what I wanted or been helped. I was there last night and someone stole my wallet. In theft, time is of the essence. I called the police who went to the store to look at security videos. But natural grocers has a policy of making that impossible. They have to put a request into corporate and then corporate sends the police the videos. WHY? That seems very odd to say the least. The corporate office is in Denver. The security cameras are at the store in Chandler. . I want to warn whoever goes here (I never see anyone really, maybe 3-5 other people, and wonder how they stay open) to make sure to hold onto your belongings because this store will not be very helpful with the police. It's their policy. This used to be the only store I shopped at. It will now be the only store I do NOT shop at. With competition like Whole Foods, TJ's and Sprouts, you'd think they'd want to make the few customers who support their store feel more safe and welcome. BTW, I don't believe the good reviews because their prices are higher here and my mom gets things like himalayan sea salt, bulk for cheap, at sprouts. Visited this new location for the first time yesterday while in town for the holiday. We miss Fresh&Easy, but this place is a huge improvement for this space! They were plenty staffed with employees in nearly every aisle tidying up and helping customers (super friendly staff). Loads of vitamins, some small gifts/cards/home items, and your typical health store packaged foods and refrigerated items. Produce section was nicely organized and fresh. We came in for some basic staples like baking powder and walked out with everything we needed. I agree with others that this place is a happy medium between Sprouts and Whole Foods. It has a 'small town' natural foods store vibe, which I like, but still modern with a great selection. If we still lived locally I'd be happy to make this my primary grocery store. read more

My mom and I Iove, love, love this store. It's our guilty pleasure. The staff is awesome and the products are amazing! Tosh is tremendously helpful in the body care and supplement department. She has diligently helped us on many occasions to recommend products based on our needs. We have never returned one of those recommendations because we ended up loving them. read more
