First let me start my saying I was very eager to try a Haitian meal from this place. My husband placed multiple orders.He went to pick up the meal and was told the food would be ready at 12:15. He then was asked to wait another 20 mins which he was ok with because good food takes time to make. After waiting he was then told that the meals would have to be cancelled. He insisted that he would wait because he had already invested his time... only for the smallest serving of griot and white rice with subpar flavor. I found out about this restaurant by buying a Groupon. I was really looking forward to trying it out. I followed the Groupon directions: call to place your order, tell them you have a Groupon. I did exactly that. Drive there, and it's not on my way to anything. 20 minutes. Parking lot is crazy, very hard to exit! Got to the restaurant & the employee says: no plantains. (Ok, she could have said that when I placed the order). Then I say I have a Groupon. No Groupon. She calls the owner who tells me they stopped taking groupons months ago. I walked away in disgust. I'm posting this so no one else buys a Groupon for this restaurant. I wasted my time, energy & gas. I was buying the meal to take to a picnic. This place is really over priced! The food was okay at best. All the meat was dry. You get so much rice and barely any meat. The goat plate was so expensive and it wasn't great. The ribs that I got weren't Haitian. (Haiti doesn't specialize in ribs) This is not authentic Haitian food. Holy F! Mind blowingly delicious. Located upstairs in the Valley Swap Meet which is an unassuming place that I would have never entered if not by a recommendation from a Haitian friend of mine. Well worth it my friends and family run. We ordered the legume (like a crab stew), which was so savory and had so much depth in flavor. Djon djon rice was perfectly textured and sticky. Fried pork was delicious and if you like pickled vegetables, the onions that come with it are pickled and compliment the pork so well. Plantains & pikliz yummy mmm. I'm glad there's a new Haitian restaurant here in Chatsworth. This is a newly opened food spot. It is actually a kitchen so only pick-up and delivery. It's hard to spot the place if it's your first time here because It is located inside a building with a lots of different other kitchens for other restaurants. There's enough parking outside. Fry Fish - The taste is good especially if you add the sauce (vinegar based with some other spices). Just a warning, there are LOTS OF BONES in the fish!!! Maybe it's the Haitian style? ;) If they can come up with deboned version, that will be amazing! Mac & Cheese - Unique version of mac & cheese and tastes good Fry Chicken - Probably a healthier version of fried chicken because it's not covered with thick buttery crust Plantain - I like the plantain. Reminds me of the Philippine version of Maruya, the only difference is this has some salt sprinkled, while Maruya has sugar. Oh well, I sprinkled sugar to this one! Tasted better. I gave this place a go because I love my Haitian foods. While everyone was super nice, when it comes to the foods nothing tastes good. I'm shocked it has so many 5 star reviews. I wouldn't trust these people who wrote those reviews to pick up my dog's food. First of all this restaurant put the salt in "Salt lake City", it's so salty that everything taste bitter. I ordered just about everything I could because I was having dinner with family and my family devoured and destroyed this food. I can't speak for anyone else but I had a great experience, it's not currently a storefront but a ghost kitchen due to an unfortunate issue at their last location. The food I got was just perfect, not salty or bland but just right. I had ordered the Legumes, i barely got to touch it before my wife and daughter annihilated it, my son made the spaghetti disappear, the goat was top notch. I'm angry because I live over an hour and a half away but I'm plotting to go get more every time I get the chance. The lemonade I got reminds me of something my grandma would make for me in Jamaica. The food portion is BIG I could only finish half of it. Talk about amazing Haitian cuisine. My partner is Haitian and absolutely loves this food. It's the closest he can get to being back home in Florida, all the way over here in Los Angeles. The flavors are bold, and delicious. The prices are affordable, and the food portions are perfect. We always get the same thing because the quality and taste has always been super consistent. We eat here multiple times a month and this is the only truly authentic Haitian cuisine that we have been able to find in Los Angeles.
