Went for Father's Day with no reservation and they accommodated our party. Food was absolutely delicious. Parking can be found around the corner on Moorpark. Will definitely be back. The gumbo put my brother to sleep! Great atmosphere. Call for reservations.

Mardi Gras Tuesday on any day is good but on Takeout Tuesday is speaks to me. And I definitely get those Wellness Wednesday leftovers. This black owned and blooming biz is located in the Sherman Oaks area off Ventura Blvd/Van Nuy Blvd. Serving up Cajun, Creole and Southern style realness in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. It's a little bit of a hidden gem being neighbor places like FitBox, Charcuterie LA, across from 2nd Street secondhand store, Juice Crafters, Happy Days Cafe and more. Parking is mostly street, metered, with a private small lot in back. The have great service, a full wine, beer and soju craft spirits bar (made from distilled fermented spirits). Happy hour is amazing and features both beverages and food. The Plant-Based Creole Sliders being a 10/10. The food is bussin!!! Even for delivery or carry out. Their vegetarian/vegan menu is the chef's kiss. I have had some instances where they were out of things in the pass, like the Hearts of Palm Poboy :_( twice, but they do their best. Love the decor in here. Bar area is iconic. Feel big and intimate all at once. Good music, sometimes live and entertainment on their flat screens. MGT is open from Noon til 9pm Monday through Thursday, Friday until 11pm, Saturday from 11am to 11pm #BreakfastLunchDinnerDessert and Sundays from 11am to 9pm. Sometimes with tables in front when the weather is more on the ideal side, pup friendly, family friendly, Wi-Fi friendly. Gender neutral restrooms. And very much Open to All.

Lots of questions to wonder about this place... When we walked in, waited for about 2 minutes before a waiter walked out and told us to take a seat anywhere. We grabbed menus as we picked our seats, cause it seemed like he was the only one there. Anyway, he brought us some water, then proceeded to get the order for a lady at a nearby table. After a couple minutes, he came and took our order. We ordered the fisherman's combo, which included fried shrimp, catfish, oysters, and hush puppies. It also came with fries and two dipping sauces. We also ordered the happy hour chicken wings, gumbo, and jambalaya. We also added a side of collard greens, and some charbroiled oysters. So after we ordered, we waited. And waited. And waited. An hour later, our food is ready and comes out. Why? Well, the lady sitting next to use ordered a decent amount of food for a party of four, or maybe two, it could've just been just as much as we ordered. Another table of two, which came after us, ordered after us, got their food before us. Who knows.... What we ordered was just slow to make? Anyway, if the food is good, than it might be worth it.. was it though? The happy hour cup of gumbo ($6) and the side of collards ($8) were super salty, what the heck?! Who eats this?! The collards tasted like they made too much some other day, reheated it a few times, and it concentrated the salt into the veg. The gumbo was just too salty. The happy hour chicken wing plate was $8 and came with four wings and some fries. One wing was dry, the other three were ok. The flavor is light. It was marinated for 24 hours? Really? The happy hour jambalaya cup was also $6. It was ok, not great but not bad, just ok. The charbroiled oysters were good, but they were really tiny oysters that you could barely taste due to the stuff on it, is that why it is good? Barely able to taste or see the oysters. $2each. The fisherman's combo, $24, uses small shrimps that are not worth eating. Give me four decent sized good ones instead. The oysters were cooked to death, and were not good to begin with too. The catfish bites were right, and spot on. The hush puppies were good too! Overall, just get catfish bites if that's all you want, I can't see anything else on this dish being worth ordering. Anyway, I am not planning to ever come back here. I recommend you save your time and money, especially time, and go elsewhere. This is not what it seemed like it was going to be. This was a waste. If you come, you better come half full, cause the wait takes long, and your food won't be satisfying. Inside is clean with plenty of seating, does this place get filled? Maybe, but won't be by people who know good food and a care about time. Restroom had no soap too, although there were two dispensers.... No soap. Like I said, don't do it.

When you look up soul food restaurant in the dictionary there's a picture of Mardi Gras Tuesday! And not only is the food fantastic and full of flavor the atmosphere is filled with high energy and great jazz music. I can't imagine a better place to get together with friends and family. And let's not forget Rania the most helpful and kind waitress!! Can't wait to come again.

My family and I went to Mardi Gras Tuesday this past Sunday it was roughly 10 of us. I must say the service was absolutely incredible. Our server this time with CJ very kind very patient as I mentioned before. I have a very demanding family and he was on point. The food was incredible as always the portions are wonderful! This time I ordered a Poboy and it had literally 25 pieces of shrimp on it now, that's what I call a Poboy sandwich. My family got the catfish meal, the seafood basket. Dessert was the beignets, peach cobbler, egg rolls I mean everything was excellent. The ambience was very nice. The only negative I could say is they do have live music at least on Sundays that was a little loud for my taste and other's around us, but it did give it a nice atmosphere but if they could just dial that down slightly, but other than that, kudos, you guys did it again.

From the outside Mardi Gras Tuesday seems as if it's just any other themed family restaurant. It's when I have these thoughts and am then proven completely wrong that makes me happy. Mardi Gras Tuesday is one of the best restaurants I've visited in a while. Going here for a late lunch we were greeted by an incredible waitress who was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Definitely the best wait staff I've ever encountered. For lunch I tried the half chicken Po' Boy with a side of Mac and cheese. Words don't adequately express how amazing these dishes tasted. The Mac and cheese was perfection. The chicken Po boy was a flavor explosion. Perfectly marinated and cooked chicken alongside delicious fresh veggies on a roll that was just delicious. Thinking back on the sandwich now I wish I could go back there this instant and have it again. I've been curious about this place for a long time and now am kicking myself for waiting this long. I highly recommend you stop by and try the phenomenal food of Mardi Gras Tuesday.

This Gumbo was truly made with soul and love. Perhaps the 2nd best Gumbo I have had in LA. A very rich and amazing broth served with a decent amount of rice in a bowl so big you will lose the spoon if you're not careful. Kitchen and service are great. I have to say though this place needs to discover its identity in the beverage department. I am seeing Soju whiskey, Soju Vodka. As someone who likes liquor I was not impressed with the drink optio

    Mardi Gras Pasta and Gumbo

My boyfriend and I had an amazing first experience here! We ordered the Mardi Gras Pasta, Jambalaya Spring Rolls, and the Seafood Gumbo, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The pasta was creamy and packed with seafood, the spring rolls were crispy and full of flavor, and the gumbo was rich, hearty, and loaded with seafood. The atmosphere was great, the portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. A special shoutout to our server, Rania! She was so friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better with her great recommendations and excellent service. We'll definitely be back and can't wait to try more of the menu. Highly recommend!

We came for Sunday brunch and service was phenomenal! The owner and staff make you feel like family. While we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, my husband and I sipped on our first glass of bottomless mimosas. We had the option to sit inside or outside in the back patio. We decided on outside as it was a cute little set up. When our party arrived, we placed our orders. As we waited for our meal, the servers were really good about keeping our glass of mimosas full. It took a long time for our food to come, so the mimosas were distracting the fact (they knew what they were doing LOL). Food arrived and I wanted to love it. Sadly, I didn't. I mean, I liked it, but didn't love it. It was under-seasoned, and for it to be "New Orleans cuisine", I was expecting FLAVA!! I ordered the Bayou Breakfast: Eggs, creole potatoes, and fried catfish and I added a waffle on the side. Eggs and potatoes were fine (well the potatoes were too crunchy for me) but the fried catfish could have had a little more salt and just more flavor. The waffle tasted like a funnel cake. Nothing wrong with funnel cakes but I wanted a waffle lol. Service: 5+ stars Food: 3.5 stars

Our nephew treated hubby and me to lunch. I love a good creole/cajun cafe. The maitre' d, Kim gave us a very warm welcome as if she was expecting us. We were seated immediately. We arrived just as brunch ended, but she offered to let us order from the brunch menu. We declined in favor of the regular menu. Our server, Malcolm, also gave us a warm greeting and was patient, taking time to explain menu options. The decor has a NOLA vibe, playing soulful music in the background. I missed seeing the celebrity pics in the hallway to the restrooms but our neph enjoyed seeing them. We started with appetizers -- charbroiled oysters with breadcrumbs and parmesan, and chicken wings. The oysters were tasty and the wings had good a good spicy flavor, similar to jerk, but they were a bit dry. For mains, the fellas had fried catfish which was very good -- light crispy and well-seasoned. One had an off-menu fillet with coleslaw and fries. The other, had a catfish basket (strips), fries and hush puppies. The fries were seasoned but not too salty. and The hush puppies were crisp outside but moist inside. They were pleased with the coleslaw and an extra order of macaroni and cheese which was noted as "authentic" baked mac and cheese. I ordered gumbo for the main. There was plenty of chicken, shrimp and sausage, as well as a decent portion of snow crab. My preference is for king crab because it's hardier and easier to shell, but I was told by a butcher elsewhere that it's difficult to obtain because of the conflict with Russia ‍ Regardless, the snow crab was sweet and easy enough to shell. Unfortunately, the broth was overly salty which made it tough to distinguish the various flavors that make gumbo standout -- celery, okra, filet etc. The gumbo came with a side of brown rice and garlic bread -- both were fine. At one point, Leslie, the "wheel" (my description ) came by to make sure we had everything we needed. A gentleman, possibly the owner, came by to apologize because they were out of cranberry juice but it wasn't a problem for me. The restaurant was about 3/4 full. Patrons were a mix of couples and families. Btw, the restrooms were clean - a feat that's hit it miss on restaurant row. The fried chicken seemed popular and flew out of the chicken often. Will try it on my next visit. If you're looking for a fast food, be prepared to wait. It took some time for our food to arrive but overall, it was worth the wait. Bottom line -- this cafe offers good food and warm, friendly service. It's definitely worth a visit, or 2 or 3...

Been here twice now. This is what five stars looks like. The food is heavenly. The crust on the mac and cheese has the lightest crunch. It is decadent. The chicken tenders are incredible. They also give you a ton. The fries are crisp and seasoned well. The shredded chicken po boy is a mind blowing experience of flavor. The gumbo hits. The service is incredible. They are so fast and kind. There is a girl with red hair here that looks like a supermodel and is the sweetest person ever. The restaurant is always spotless. I am so lucky I know about this spot!!! I will be back a hundred times in my lifetime.

Came here for an early dinner on Saturday and what a treat! Never been before but will definitely be back. The staff is so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Greeted and seated with menus and waters right away. The vibe here so cool and reminded me of not only New Orleans but the restaurants I grew up around back in Chicago. I love that they have vegan options so I ordered the Red Beans and Rice with Plant Based Sausage as well as a Hurricane. My entree was so good and thinking about it makes me want to head there right now for another plate. Drink was just okay. I think I'm not used to the type of rum they use so for my second drink I ordered a Chardonnay which hit the spot. While there and before our food or drinks came the manager noticed our table was wobbly and was quick to adjust it. During our meal our server and the manager checked in on us few times...again...amazing service! Also, two thumbs up for the free parking in back as this stretch of Ventura can be kind of busy. They also have a huge outdoor patio in back. Next time we'll definitely bring some friends.

Jambalaya is so-so. We have had better Jambalaya.

    Any music? How's the ambiance?

there is live jazz on sundays, and yes there is music usually. great vibe!

    How about parking?

Street parking. Maybe a spot in back but I wouldn't count on it.

I see several vegetarian options. Are they able to make Vegan?

My daughter was my guest there, ordered vegan ( as she is) and it had to be remade twice...just keep 1n eye on your food!

    Do they serve fried chicken?

    Yes They Serve Fried Chicken

Does the chicken sausage have pork casing?

If it’s chicken sausage there won’t be anything pork in/on it. It’s delicious and an alternative for pork sausage.

Can I get jambalaya with no shrimp?

    Yes! Definitely

    Are reservations necessary?

    No reservations necessary.

Do you have any vegan option? I am coming for a birthday :)

I didn't see any Vegan options but to my surprise there were several Vegetarian options - You can always call, the Owner is very helpful.

    Do you show Saints games?

Yes, when ever they are playing.

    Is there still outdoor dining?

    Indoor and outdoor dining available

First let me start by saying I loved every bit of my experience at this restaurant! My question is do you all have live music at all during the day or night on the weekends?

Weekdays they have a jazz or karaoke night. Best thing to do is call and confirm. Food is amazing!

Is anything on the menu gluten free by any chance? I have Celiac and got so incredibly sick in Nola when I was assured the dish I ordered was gluten free. I'd rather not have that happen again.

As of now we don't offer any gluten free items but our Chefs are working hard to make that happen. So make sure and check back with us in the near future.

I don't eat pork & saw that their jambalaya is made with chicken sausage. If that's the case, would love to try. Can anyone confirm this?

the chicken sausage may have pork casing

Is the chicken po boy made with chicken breast? Also, can you get a shrimp Po boy with grilled shrimp instead of fried shrimp? Thanks!

Yes Chciken sandwich is made with pulled and seasoned chicken breast. They will make a Grilled Shrimp poboy if you ask...

Hi! So excited about this restaurant! Can anyone advise if the veggie bowl and mac n cheese are vegetarian?

Yes both are vegetarian they also have more vegetarian options available just ask a server.

What are the vegan/vegetarian options in this restaurant? :)

I don't know all of the selections there. However, I do know that they have a sweet potato po'boy that is very good. Check out their menu for additional information.

I am a picky person but I can say this gumbo beats so many known cajun restaurants across states and I had been to a lot of them. Will definitely come back (love the hot sauce too )

Especially if you want great gumbo and cornbread. Things to know: First off, the food is delicious. Second off, this place has an A rating for food inspection. The place is a registered business (or else you couldn't list yourself on Google Maps) Besides... you live in LA and have survived danger dogs. That A rating should help you feel relieved, either way. If not, the smile you receive as you get the food hopefully will. You have to go up a few stairs on the left to get to the spot. Don't worry, there's signs that'll tell you where it is. Parking situation is a rough during rush hour but you should be able to squeeze in the street. You get some beads with your food, which is cute. Sounds like a fun thing to get if you ordered delivery while you're drinking at home (or work) with friends. So yeah, the food is great. It's super well made. The quality is what I was hoping for from a place that specialized in gumbo. Much like how I would expect the ramen to be good when they serve nothing but ramen. 100% recommend getting the cornbread with the gumbo, btw. I totally ate most of it while I was driving home so I'd say I recommend getting extra. (they're conveniently bite sized. I couldn't help. Lol)

The dipping sauce was great too. The fries are good and seasoned well. I wish they were a bit crispier, but that's my personal preference. I was given packets of ketchup and Tapatio hot sauce too. I also had a side of greens. WOW!!!!!! Best greens I've ever had!! Mind blowing good. Definitely order the greens. The warm peach cobbler was the perfect way to end my meal. Absolutely delicious. You can taste how fresh and homemade it is. This is a pricier food truck but the quality is top tier and you get what you pay for. I highly recommend.

We ordered our food and the total was over $60 bucks. I included gratitude of 20%. We wait for over 45 mins when I dismissed my family and told them I will bring the food up. The wait was too long and unbearable so I asked a simple question. " how much longer will my order take". The help inside the truck was very frustrated and asked me if I wanted my food or not. Offered NO apology for my long agonizing wait. Not many customers for the truck but everyone who ordered was waiting. I don't recommend for any other building or for catering. They will leave people hungry, irritable and frustrated. They need to work on their customer service, expediting food properly. Unacceptable to wait that long in any restaurants. I saw one patron return a meal! Don't order. Don't recommend. Long long wait times Rude!!!

I've been to San Pedro many of times and I'm sorry but I beg to differ. THIS RESTAURANT is far better than any restaurant in San Pedro. The food was great and in great propositions and the service was excellent. Our waitress was enormously friendly and professional.

It's a small hole in the wall place. It's cute, but don't expect a fine dining restaurant experience. They're currently advertising Dungeness crab at $23 per pound, but you don't know how much your piece weighs. Mine ended up costing almost $70, and it was definitely not worth it. That didn't include any sides either, I had to pay extra to add corn and potatoes. I also ordered garlic bread on the side, and it was the worst garlic bread I've ever had. It was soft, soggy, and had absolutely no crunch to it. The kids' chicken tender meal only came with two very small pieces of chicken. I was expecting more for the price. There was only one staff member serving the entire restaurant, and you could tell she was getting overwhelmed. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience, and for spending almost $200, I did not leave satisfied.
