Excellent service and shout out to our server Nick who was great- very attentive! It's kid friendly with a full service bar. Lots of seafood options - nothing for vegetarians or vegans here though. Kids got popcorn shrimp and a burger which they liked. My husband got the two pounds of blue crab with boiled shrimp and a side of corn on the cob, hush puppies, and roasted potatoes. He said it was OK, but the crab was a little overcooked. I got the grain bowl, with Salmon. All in all it was satisfactory, but just didn't quite hit the mark. I think it needed a little bit more in terms of seasoning. All that to say, it's a decent restaurant with pretty good food. Wow, what a bummer.:( Definitely disappointed. Was so excited to try Nautilus this evening with my family and was so surprised in a lack of authentic service. The food was barely warm, it was busy and I do understand how hard working in the industry can be on individuals but there was just an overall lack of sincerity. My partner is a sous and I worked in the service industry for years as a dishwasher, severer, and hostess. I have worked some terrible shifts were I know for certain my tiredness was visible however the atmosphere seemed to be the restaurant standard and usual. When I order a 34 dollar plate and I wait 40 minutes for my food I do expect it to be hot and I don't do feel like that makes me A Karen. I would've sent it back but did not want to cause a disturbance in my Fathers birthday dinner. I know he likely tipped our waitress 20% as well. While you might be a tourist spot and be able to secure consistent revenue just simply from persons not being local this should not result in a lack of passion and quality. read more

First time trying after a day at the beach. The orange crush drink was great and my granddaughter had a virgin strawberry daiquiri which was good. I ordered hush puppies that were very tasty. I also had the bang bang shrimp and they were so-so with a thick sauce on them that was maybe a little more ketchupy than usual. Came for breakfast with the family and were seated immediately upon arrival. I tried the raspberry peach bellini since they have a nice $4 breakfast happy hour with some very appealing drinks. I didn't catch what everyone ordered but my food was very hard to forget. Hashbrown Benedict with nice thick hashbrowns on top of a English muffin with perfectly poached eggs and beautifully runny yolks. Topped with bacon and a wonderful hollandaise sauce. ABSOLUTE BANGER. So, how does a restaurant at the ocean front and literal minutes from the world famous blue crabs of the Chesapeake bay serve frozen blue crabs????? WTEF, I am so very disappointed. The "meat" was mush in the body, and the legs were dried out and stuck to the shell that you couldn't eat it. I paid $50 essentially for blue crabs adjacent flavor sprinkled with old bay and served with hot house lemon wedges. read more

We go to Virginia Beach at least 4 times a year since we are timeshare owners and we wanted to try this restaurant the other day (in which we have dinned in before, when it used to be a buffet). And just because my kids (3 and 4 years old) had a small ice cream in their hands they refused to even sit us and we were told to leave the restaurant in a really bad way almost like pushing us on our backs to get out, we could tell by the expression on the waiters face that it was an act of racial discrimination. The whole restaurant was incredible from when we walked all the thou to we walked out. The Wait staff were very friendly, smiling, and just great personalities. The atmosphere was very pleasant. (Granted we got there at a slow point of the day) The decor was very interesting, with all the naval stuff and the table were very cool as well. Now, the very best part...THE FOOD! We wanted Seafood and didn't want to travel far since it was late outside. This place was across the street from our Hotel. They had a few customers inside. We were seated and our Server Sydney greeted us and told us that the Kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. So we quickly ordered our drinks and food. We ordered Sweet Tea and it was overly Sweet, we asked for a cup of ice to dilute it. We ordered Crab Dip and Steamed Shrimp for Appetizers. The Crab Dip was good, but it wasn't hot, the Steamed Shrimp was good. I ordered the Crab Cake with French Fries, they weren't good nothing like I'm used to in Maryland we do it best. They just started doing breakfast. We loved everything we had. Their menu was very extensive which was perfect for me since I don't eat eggs. I had the sausage, hash browns and imported Halloumi cheese from Cyprus. The cheese was incredible as were the other dishes I had. $4 mimosas from 7:30 am until 2:00 pm also! Went there expecting a great meal and the shrimp and crab were so over cooked it was hard to get them out of the shell. The crab was stuck to the inside shell and had to be cut open to get the dry crab out. The shrimp also was stuck to the shell and hard to get out, disappointed since we were there before and it was good. Won't go back there for $50.00 I expected better. In town for the weekend and found this place near our hotel for dinner. Brooke our server was great. She was friendly and made dinner and app suggestions. We decided on the bang bang shrimp and steamed clams. The bang bang shrimp was a little spicy but was very good and the shrimp were huge! For dinner we ordered the Delmonico steak with a baked potato and the fried shrimp dinner and baked potato. Everything came out fast and was hot. The cocktail sauce was definitely homemade with old bay seasoning and was my favorite! We ate inside but there was outdoor seating as well. Great location, and very good service. read more

The hubs and I were celebrating his birthday in Virginia Beach one weekend. We checked into the hotel around 8ish o'clock, and hit the streets for food. I'm not familiar with the area, so I was ready to use the Yelp App, but the hubs had already walked through the Nautilus Restaurant doors lol. Upon entry, I noticed it was quiet with a few people eating, and one finished paying the check. A hostess showed us to a table where our waitress greeted and brought water. I perused the menu quickly, but it was the hubs choice since it was his celebratory weekend. He opted for the shrimp and fish with a side of fries. There was also an order of a twisted mango colada that was delicious, sweet, and creamy. If there was alcohol in there I wouldn't know lol. Our waitress was also very sweet and nice. She shared she was only a few weeks into her waitressing position. When the food hit the table I dug in. The fish and shrimp were battered evenly. I felt the seasoning was on point where we were able to taste the seafood, and not just a huge thick of breaded batter. The waitress did say the shrimp and fish were frozen, one being from Alaska, and the other unknown. The fries were tasty, crunchy, and fried fresh. Pretty good and filling. After a fun day at the beach, I got food from here which was right across the Hampton Inn North Front. My wife had the burger, I got the shrimp scampi, my 4yo daughter got the chicken tenders, and my 7yo son had popcorn shrimp. According to my son, they have the best French fries, but he's said that about every other place... so take that with a grain of salt. My wife's burger was over seasoned but their shrimp scampi was butterly (utterly) delicious. As I have said a 3 or 4 star review is not a bad review. But while my logical side says everything about this place was a solid "beach average" I would bump them up a star. First iff the food, good overall, I had the fried oysters which were not overbreaded!! My wife got the typical you find them everywhere old bay seasoned peel and eat shrimp. The food was good overall, about what I expexted. I was not a fan of the music they were playing outdoors and in that section of atlantic you get the car and motorcycle "revvers" which detracted from the feel of the place. The service was a slow but we got there as the evening rush was peaking. Although I did note the service at a few other tables was more attentive. After reading reviews we were exceedingly disappointed with this place. Their rendition of bang bang shrimp used really good big shrimp but the sauce just wasn't good. We thought the shrimp basket would have nice shrimp but they served little popcorn shrimp that was nothing but breading. They have nice big shrimp so how disappointing to have little popcorn shrimp served to you instead. I would much rather have 5 or 6 nice big shrimp than 25 popcorn overbreaded shrimp.
