We ordered poke bowls, soft shell crab sushi, fish plate and fish and chips. I need to warn everyone that if u order sushi or poke bowl, the wait was close to 60 minutes. We were told 20-30 mins wait and we said ok that's fine. But the wait was close to an hour. I'm Asian so the sushi and poke bowls aren't good. Rice was soft and mushy, and drenched with soy sauce, thus super salty IMO. Skip them! They also forgot to add avocado and edamame but we didn't let them know. It will take too long to get them and we were ready to go. It's kinda understandable tho...everywhere is short on staff. I hate to write negative reviews but wanted to give others a head up. If you are hungry and don't want to wait for an extended time, order anything but sushi and poke bowls. We were told poke bowls and sushi will take longer. We had halibut plate, which was delicious! We started with the Da Bomb shrimp. The sauce was delicious and shrimp perfectly cooked - 10/10. I ordered the fish and chips. I love that you can select what kind of fish you want. Omg!!!!! Just try them!!!! I ran into a local man who told me this place was amazing. He was not wrong!!! I had some DaBomb Shrimp. Let me tell you this shrimp are huge and breaded with some special sauce. This was my favorite item on the menu. If you get 1 thing get shrimp. Tuna balls are rolled with rice and then fried. They are not greasy they have a really good homey flavor. Cant go wrong with anything you order. Every Tuesday it's taco Tuesday! So $3 dollar tacos. Today it was rockfish tacos and they are amazing. We were seated promptly and the host/server was nice enough. The restaurant has some things around explaining what endemic means and giving some info on endemic species in Catalina. We ordered oysters to start, the unagi roll and two hand rolls. The oysters were tiny, but size varies so it wasn't a huge deal. I come here every visit to Catalina. It is the best fish on the island hands down. You can usually get locally caught yellowtail or bluefin sashimi or nigiri.. it's just next level. I don't even know a place that does this in LA. It's definitely a fish house, there is fishing related decor and the TVs play video of people fishing and dead fish (might not be for everyone). Service is friendly and excellent, I see the one same dude server there every time- he is a homie. Seems like he really cares about what they are serving! Can't recommend it enough. read more

The fish quality was good, but it lacked the acidic bite that I like and there was no heat to it. I don't need it very hot, but a little spice would help. The fish tacos were good. The rockfish worked well, and the portion was large, but I would have preferred a bit more heat (again). The actual best item was the chili flake fries. I would have liked to try the sashimi, but I didn't want to eat 5 pieces of the same fish. A combo plate with each item would be a nice offering, I would have tried that. read more

The food was very tasty! Even though the restaurant was busy the waiter (kenneth) was super friendly and we were served quickly.

We sat down at 6:30 and got served our main meal (two salmon poke bowls, chicken teriyaki bowl, and a rainbow roll) at 8:10. There's no excuse for this dining experience (other than we were too nice and didn't get up to leave). The server is also the host and bus boy, and I felt so sorry for him. The big mistake made by management here is that the under-staffed kitchen kept taking "to go" orders, and the customers on the dining room suffered as a result. NDMK gets 3 stars for the friendly and attentive staff, however the oysters deserve 1 star. They were warm and only had horse radish on the side. Nothing like the pictures on Yelp. Service was good and the ambience is a laid back surfer vibe with surf videos playing on the televisions. We saw this when we first got off the ferry and I had wanted to try it our whole trip. We ended up meeting the owner at the spa and took that as a sign to go (we eat sushi about once a week in San Diego). Here's the deal: This is not cooked/made fresh to order, or at minimum ours was not. We ordered drinks and a roll to kick us off (we planned on eating a lot). We ordered the Avalon (a fried shrimp inside) and it came out before we even cheered our drinks (under a minute). It just isn't physically possible if made fresh. The shrimp was cold and chewy, as if it had been refrigerated and waiting for the order. I assume it is a popular option and they wanted to have it ready to go (even though we were 1 of 2 tables eating there). If you're going to pre make dishes at least have the courtesy to trick me into thinking it was fresh (wait a few minutes). The other bad: They have juice options on the menu that you can add soju to. I asked what they were and the waiter said "fresh squeezed juice". Yet it came in a bottle made in LA. We have different definitions of fresh I guess. The cup was dripping with what adheres the taijin and I couldn't take a sip without being covered in it. Good juice nonetheless but I was expecting homemade "fresh" juice based on the description from the server. They also only offer the "less sodium" soy sauce, which I do not want. All in all disappointing. We left, grabbed beers and chips and will head back out later for a proper dinner. read more

I am so glad that our visit to Catalina happened right after NDMK Fish House opened. This was by far my favorite meal while I was in Avalon. I ordered the Farnsworth Bank Roll ($18). My cashier, Brandon V., was very friendly and had great customer service. I waited around five minutes (probably less) for my dinner to arrive. It was amazing! The fish was so fresh and delicious. My friends ordered the Garabaldhi Roll ($17), Miss Catalina Roll ($11) and Fish Tacos ($16). Everyone enjoyed their food as well. I will admit that it is definitely on the smaller side for the price you pay, but I believe that the quality is worth it. Our food was delivered by Kelsey and she was so sweet! She came by to check on us and informed us of the status of our orders. I will definitely be visiting NDMK Fish House next I'm in Catalina, and I suggest that you do too! read more

Pretty solid food option on Catalina Island. It's a bit tucked away and very unassuming. We got the burger thinking it was by default the bison burger but it ended up being Angus beef. It was sauced nicely with a sweet teriyaki. The NDMK fries had this dashi soy sauce reduction and spicy mayo drizzle that was delicious. Fries were delicious and perfectly crisp. Asked for the halibut fish and chips since it's the closest in texture to cod. Great crunch and flakes on the fish. Garlic parmesan fries were also excellent. We also got the mahi mahi ceviche which I thought could use some spice or salt but was otherwise good. It was good enough that my girlfriend and I came back the next night. She got the tuna poke bowl which the tuna was drenched in just soy sauce which made the whole thing salty and not too great, but the fish was very fresh. The halibut fish tacos were also delicious. I came here as many different locals recommended this place to me. There was quite a bit of people waiting for both dine-in and take-out. My party was seated relatively quickly, but it took a while for us to receive our food. However, based off of what I saw, it looked like there were not many workers and they were doing the best they could given the circumstances with COVID-19 and all. All the food was okay, but I guess I held higher expectations considering that the locals raved about this place. I did not find the poke bowl very special, and the rolls were just average. But, it's a solid place to come if you want to spend a reasonable amount of money (in contrast to the overpriced restaurants all over the island) as well as get some beer on tap from a local brewery.
