Fried Calamari (7 Pcs) Super fresh when served and very delicious

I'm extremely picky when it comes to sushi, so when I say this place is legit, I mean it. The flavors that explode in your mouth with just one bite are pure *chef's kiss.* Service is exactly what you'd expect from an intimate, small sushi spot. It can get very busy, so service slows down during peak hours and is much quicker when it's not crowded. I still haven't had the chance to sit at the bar and have the sushi chef make nigiri by request, but that's definitely on my list for next time.

Small little sushi place that is now in our rotation of places to eat out at! Everything we tried just tasted clean and fresh. Our only complaint- the sodas were brought out in cans (honestly, I liked that they were brought in cans but my companion wasn't a fan). Make sure to call ahead to make an RSVP! Will be back frequently!

This is a great neighborhood sushi joint. Im not sure I would travel to eat here, but if this is close to you, try it! I suspect that Sushi Akito is the best sushi available in this area.... You would have to go to the Miyako Hybrid hotel in Torrance or Sugarfish in Manhattan beach to beat this place. The options for sushi were broad, fish for the most part was good. The ikura (salmon roe) was presented well. Yellow tail and yellow tail belly were great. Toro had a fancy presentation with caviar and edible gold, but unfortunately the Toro itself was lackluster. Sushi rice was oddly sweet and a little wet. Service was charming! Very sweet and coordinated group even when busy. Atmosphere was what I would describe as a neighborly feeling.

I would say this is a solid spot for the area. After all, Palos Verdes isn't a hot bed of Japanese cuisine. I ordered the chirashi bowl and they were nice enough to replace the tuna, which I don't like, with more yellowtail. The quality of the fish is in the middle, definitely not the best but better than the supermarket haha. We also ordered two different kinds of oysters, with ponzu and uni, which were extremely tiny but tasted pretty good and fresh. Overall, if you're in the area and too lazy to drive out to Torrance, this is right for the price.

Wow. What an excellent place. Was in town and wanted to find a Japanese restaurant for mother's day as my mom loves Japanese food. The sashimi was so well done. Scallops were like butter. Bluefin tuna was so so good.

3.5 Rating The service is great and the location is great also. For a local sushi restaurant it's not bad but not excellent sorry to say. The prices aren't too expensive for the usual favorites and the house specialties. However, the rice (sushi) needs more flavor, more mirin and vinegar. Also, the fish (I feel) seemed like it was rinsed, so it erased the natural flavor and oils (?). The sashimi seemed too clean tasting, if this makes sense. Im only speculating, I don't have proof. Anyway, I'm not an expert on sashimi, but not a novice either. Take these words as they are.

Our search continues for a replacement for an outstanding sushi restaurant. We started with sharing a large bottle of Sapporo, and we ordered seafood sunomono, mixed tempura, chicken karaage, a rainbow roll and a WTF roll. The chicken karaage was tasteless and overcooked. We did complain and our server took it off our bill. The sunomono was good as was the tempura, and sushi, but not spectacular. The search continues.

IG/TT @eatwkris The best sushi in South Bay!! I recommend starting with their bonito edamame. It's coated so well and every bite is so flavorful. The Spanish mackerel is also so good and flown in from Spain. I'm picky when it comes to uni and it's so fresh and not super fishy. All rolls are $16-$18 and around 8 pieces. They even have real crab rolls. my favorite is the crazy salmon with fresh salmon inside, and seared salmon with a house spicy sauce on top.

    WTF

ad an amazing Sunday lunch here and honestly -- this was the best sushi I've ever had. Every single bite tasted premium. You can immediately tell the quality of the fish and ingredients are on another level -- incredibly fresh, clean flavors, and perfectly prepared. Sitting at the sushi bar made it even better because you can actually see the freshness and care that goes into everything being made. I ordered the green mussels, spicy garlic edamame, the WTF Roll, Wagyu sushi, and the Tuna Lover Roll -- and every dish was outstanding. The Wagyu sushi completely blew me away... I've never had Wagyu like that before. It literally melted in my mouth. The presentation across the board was beautiful and showed real attention to detail. Huge shoutout to Ugo at the sushi bar -- incredibly kind, welcoming, and passionate about what he does. He even let me try a roll I was curious about, which made the experience feel personal and memorable. If you're looking for top-tier sushi with premium ingredients and an amazing atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth it. This is definitely my new sushi spot.

    Rolling Fresh Roll

Excellent service and delicious food. We had a sushi craving and were in the area, and Sushi Akito was able to satisfy. We had many rolls and all were balanced and full of flavor. The Yellow Sour was so good we ordered a second one. Crunchy Dragon is an interesting take on the usual Dragon roll with added shrimp tempura for a crunch. Rolling Fresh Roll is unorthodox since the yellowtail is the wrapping. It had only 4 pieces, and has no carbs, so I can see the appeal if one wants to avoid rice. Jalapeno Bomb was aesthetically pleasing though the cream cheese smooths out the spice from the jalapeño. The Kid's Chicken Bento box was adorable. It has a Bear-faced lid, with a layer for edamame, one for chicken and broccoli, and a bottom layer for rice.

Although I'm not the biggest connoisseur of sushi, and honestly consider myself a sushi noob, this place was super delicious! It's a pretty small spot but it's was a nice & relaxing environment, service was quick & server was nice! Sushi was really yummy, so I will definitely be back to try more! (:

The yellowtail sashimi was clean and delicate, with a nice fresh flavor and smooth texture. The spicy tuna hand roll was also great -- good spice level and the seaweed was still crisp, which always makes a difference. The albacore "double double" was probably the standout. Rich, buttery, and well balanced with the toppings without overpowering the fish. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The chefs are visible. The staff is plentiful. The music is good. The atmosphere feels like the kind of place that understands hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience never quite came together. The first challenge was the temperature. The dining room felt more like a sauna than a restaurant. To his credit, our server Arthur worked hard to help and eventually got management to increase the air conditioning. He was easily the standout of the evening and did everything he could to salvage the experience. We ordered extensively, including the $130 Ise Course. Some of it was quite good. Some of it was surprisingly disappointing. The grilled lobster with yuzu miso and kinome was completely overcooked, dry and buried under too much sauce. One of the signature dishes of the course ended up being one of the weakest. The grilled yellowtail suffered from the same problem: dry, overcooked and lacking the care you would expect from a restaurant presenting a seasonal multi course menu at this price point. The larger issue was organization. Dishes constantly arrived with servers asking, "Who ordered this?" or "Who has the udon?" The dining room felt strangely disconnected from the kitchen. Food runners seemed unsure where dishes belonged, which created confusion throughout the meal. Then things really went sideways. Trying to be respectful, I asked that my parents be served first. Everyone eventually received their meals and continued eating. The problem was that my Ise Course never arrived in sequence. My family finished their meals. My children finished. My parents finished. My sister finished. And on my birthday, I sat there alone waiting for several missing courses while everyone else watched. A seasonal set menu is supposed to feel paced and intentional. Instead, it felt forgotten. Arthur again stepped in and spoke with management. The restaurant offered complimentary desserts, which was appreciated, although somewhat awkward because my meal was still arriving while everyone else was already moving on to dessert. What happened next genuinely surprised me. When the bill arrived, management returned and asked whether we would be willing to authorize an additional charge so gratuity could be increased from 18% to 20% because of the size of the party. After the heat, the delays, the confusion, the overcooked centerpiece dishes, the missed pacing and spending a birthday meal eating alone after everyone else had finished, it felt like the wrong conversation to be having. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this because there is clearly talent in the building and Arthur deserves recognition for how hard he worked. But hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for. On this visit, despite a beautiful room and some good food, that never happened.
