The needed more body, maybe needed some wine in the recipe. The burgers had great flavor and the fries were good. My wife's was under cooked and had to be sent back. If it wasn't for a $6,99 price for the burger and fries I would have given a lower ratting. They were slammed and short of help. . We never got our complimentary potato chips. Manhattan made by Frank in the bourbon bar!!!! Outstanding!! Frank knows everything anyone needs to know about bourbon. Wonderful bar! The food here is outstanding..... a must is the burnt butter bourbon honey salmon. That dish was cooked perfectly and I had to refrain from licking the plate. You must must must order this on your next visit. Everything on this menu is amazing but unfortunately the salmon was so good that I will have a hard time ordering anything else. We went for Happy Hour and it exceeded our expectations. Drinks, food, and service were all great. Plus, the ambiance is inviting.

I wanted to be sure I would get a good table for a Thursday night, so I made a reservation a week before the date I wanted. This was going to be an Anniversary celebration, and I made sure that was noted because I wanted to surprise my wife. Before we arrived at Neat SRQ, I stopped to pick up some friends who would be joining us: another surprise for my wife. We arrived at seven, and I identified our party and stated we had reservations for an Anniversary dinner . As we were escorted to the possibly worst table, I had a premonition this evening was not going as I had hoped. I was right; I was horribly right. We waited for fifteen minutes before a server arrived. We ordered drinks. The ladies ordered White Cranberry Cosmos, and the men ordered Bourbon, Angel's Envy if they had it , chilled, no ice. Twenty minutes later the drinks arrived, but the server had no idea of what was in them. Our original server returned to take our meal orders. My wife ordered the prime filet, while I ordered the Burnt Butter Bourbon Honey Salmon. I don't recall what our friends ordered. We told the server all of us would be having the lava cake for desert. Previous experience in other restaurants had taught me that it was best to let the chef know from the start as it could take time to prepare lava cake. The server vanished and did not even ask my wife how she wanted her steak cooked. Our food arrived about eight thirty. We were upset as we had observed other customers, who had arrived after us, were being served while we waited and waited and waited. The manager discovered us as he was making the rounds. We told him we were upset but he just smiled and moved on. There seemed to be several "regulars" as he stopped at there tables and chatted and spoke to servers who then appeared to take care of their needs. Our party had no major issues with the food which most enjoyed. It was approaching nine and the restaurant was close to empty. When we inquired about our deserts, we were asked what deserts? I'm sure the evening could have been worse but I'm not sure how. I apologized to friends for the disaster. I don't believe I will return, ever. read more

September 8 2023 - 2 for dinner before the theatre. I believe Neat is operating under a "soft opening" so my review here should be considered preliminary, informative, information to management and 100% likely to be remediated and updated when we go back in the coming months. We liked Neat A LOT. but have to give their 'paper back' to be resubmitted for a better grade as not complete!!! (wink) Clearly working out the kinks of personnel, the bar, kitchen timing/preparation/cooking and things like place settings, glassware qty and coordination. The place was almost packed when we arrived ~ 6:30 pm on a Friday. Bar was full and folks standing and chatting. The conversation noise was heard outside as we approached and thought a wedding reception was going on inside!!! (smile) On this note, the interior is nicely lighted however concrete walls, hard surfaces, flat panel ceiling lacquered tiles and metal applique in the bar area and a lot of glass and solid floor - it was fairly loud and needs some sound deadening wall panels, acoustic ceiling tiles and maybe even acrylic wall dividers. This large rush of folks we later found out had consumed all martini glasses so my wife got hers in a flute then a tumbler.... No utensils or napkins on our table and in between courses our second set of forks/knives were not really rinsed. (I think hand washed for speed and dripped dry in a rack etc.) The staff is attentive but like actors on the first night a little tentative and 'nervous' . ALL OF THIS is fixable and will likely be. We made a reservation and were at first offered a 4 top 1/2 booth in the dining room but a few herniated discs I have finally recovered from have me avoid booth seating. We eventually were put at a very unfortunately placed four top where 100% of the kitchen traffic and 100% of the dining room passes by being between the bar and the dining room it was the epicenter of the conversation noise and traffic. Menu will likely be changing wildly and we made suggestions about more vegetarian or vegan/WFPB options or ingredients. Stay tuned and keep an eye out on their website I suspect..... or stop on in!!! My wife had the martini and she said it was pretty good. Our portabella mushroom appetizer was also VERY nicely done and awesome fresh ingredients and flavoring/spices!!! Tasty. I got the Beyond Burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked properly (I am not a fan of this product and would have like a homemade or good quality bean burger) the gluten free bun was ok in that category but a sourdough or rye or other non gluten natural product also better. My wife got the bourbon salmon. This was a very nice fresh piece of fish and it was prepared with a yellow rice that was also nice. The fish was prepared and seasoned very nicely and this had all the making of a great entrée. Unfortunately the inexperience or the timing and kitchen workflow on the grill/kitchen it was not medium well or medium rare or whatever cooking intention.......it was 80% raw in the middle. My wife ate the exterior to sample and for us to evaluate the taste but we refused this entrée. (we had to get going for a show so a re-do or alternative was not an option and it was adjusted off the bill). So I am not rating the individual entrée here as I felt this would be premature and they are not officially open for a few more weeks. We met the owners who came independently both came to the table, our waitstaff and especially our server Reid was exceptional and it seemed experienced and hugely interested in our feedback, impressions, and making any and all adjustments. We will return in a month or more and I can EASILY see this rating popping up a notch or two - the ingredients are there. Its just timing and people and process!!!! read more

Worst service in my life. 20 ladies came for Happy Hour (which we gave notice 3 times that we were coming) and it took 2 hours and 35 minutes to get a drink and small meals. The waitress begged for forgiveness saying "please forgive me, there are 20 of you and one of me" as the manager sat in the back viewing her phone and sipping a soft drink. Owner take heed. Here are pics of your empty dining room, 20 customers waiting 2hr 35 min for service, and your manager only hopping up when she saw the flash of my camera. Disappointing Experience We were excited to visit this bar for the first time but were shocked by the treatment we received. Shortly after arriving, an older woman--later revealed to be a part owner--rudely confronted us for briefly standing at the bar catching up with our friends and ordering drinks, claiming we were blocking the view of the musicians. We were polite but still felt unwelcome. Later, the manager approached us, and instead of addressing the situation calmly, he became defensive and asked us to leave. I am so sorry to write such a bad review of Neat. However, my 7 friends and I booked a table on St. Patty's night at 7P with the understanding that there would be corned beef and cabbage on the menu in addition to an Irish Band. I called to confirm this and the nice girl on the phone confirmed. We arrived promptly at 7P. There was country music playing most of the night til we requested Irish music. It turned out to be crazy........first we were told that they were out of corned beef, then told by the Mgr. after voicing our displeasure that they did have corned but we would have to wait awhile til it was ready. Since everyone was hungry at that point (8:30!!!) we ordered something else. The server told us that they then had corned beef. So, I changed my order to corned beef. This picture shows how it came out of the kitchen and presented to me. I am Irish and even if I were not, anyone knows you do not serve it this way without carrots and mashed potatoes and sliced properly. It was in chopped up bite sized pieces and most of them were not done and almost raw. When the Mgr came to check on things, I complained......he said nothing, left our table and wandered off to patrons seated at the bar. Never came back. We paid our checks and left at approx 9:15P!! Pitiful. I cannot give Neat a rating when there was so much wrong. The dining section was not even half filled.....now we know why. Never again! read more

Nice atmosphere. Good live music. Drinks are very overpriced at $17-$19 for a martini. This is not a "high end" restaurant. Rib special was an excellent price at $10 for half rack. They weren't great but worth what we paid. Service leaves a lot of room for improvement but the staff and owner are very friendly. We went early on Saturday evening, just before 6. It was pretty quiet in the outdoor dining area but inside was really busy! Turns out, it was their grand opening...we didn't have a reservation (as early as it was, we thought we could wing it). Anyway, we wanted to sit inside but all the tables were booked so we told them we'd come back another time. The manager or owner (not sure who he was but he had clout) overheard and got us a table in the bar area! One of his friends apparently offered to stay seated at the bar and gave us his table which was so cool and we were so grateful. It's located in the shopping center where Jalisco Mexican and first watch are, so easy parking. The space is nice, sort of clubby and intimate feeling inside. We started with a couple of cocktails - a dirty Shirley for me and a new fashioned for my husband-both were good! To eat, I had the California chicken club with house made chips and he had a burger with fries. Both were tasty although the burger was a little overcooked. Service was good and all in all, it was a great outing and we'll go back. The crowd was nicely dressed, not overly casual but not very dressy either. Some of the ladies had pretty dresses on and guys were either in shorts or long pants with nice shirts. A good place for date night! read more

It wasn't a perfect experience, but Neat is one of the best restaurants we've found in South Sarasota, and I suspect that they will work through a lot of their kinks over the next few months. This place will absolutely be added to our rotation and we will enthusiastically recommend it to everyone we know. Any critiques below are merely to help the restaurant improve and refine. Let's start with the food, which was overall fantastic... Within a minute or two of being seated, the chef came out personally to bring warm, homemade potato chips and ranch dressing. The chips were fantastic, and the personalized attention from the chef was appreciated (he delivered several of our plates throughout the meal and was super friendly). The seared tuna appetizer was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and the accompanying noodles or absolutely delicious. The wedge salad appetizer provided a very generous portion of bacon, cheese crumbles and tomato, and the blue cheese dressing they use is some of the best I've had. For the main course, my filet was absolutely perfect, though accidentally so. I had just finished helping my son what are his burger medium, and when the waitress asked me for the temperature of my steak, I accidentally said medium instead of medium rare. The steak was delivered medium rare instead, which obviously would have been a problem had I not intended it (an error in my favor). It was a generous portion, and looked bigger than the 8 oz advertised. Along with the steak was the chef's homemade sauce, a tomato based barbecue-like sauce that everyone at the table tried and loved -- if the chef sold it by the bottle, we likely would have bought several. My wife got the bourbon salmon, which was cooked perfectly, but needed a little bit more seasoning. She also ordered the sauteed spinach, which she loved. Both my mother and son ordered burgers. My mom thought the burger was one of the best she had had in a long time, and while I don't normally eat burgers, I finished my son's and it was amazing. Wherever they get their meat is a great choice. For dessert, we got The Big Mess. Basically a huge bowl of cookie crumbles, banana, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate and other unidentifiable ingredients that actually paired very well together. We all dug in directly from the bowl and ate every last drop. The hostess (owner or manager?), our server, and the chef we're all tremendously attentive. We arrived to around 6:00 p.m., and the restaurant was mostly empty at the time, so I assume this isn't always the case. But we certainly appreciated it. Our only complaint with the service is that everything came out a little too fast and we felt a bit rushed. Our appetizers arrived within a few minutes of being ordered, and our entrees showed up no more then 5 minutes later. Given that the restaurant was mostly empty at the time, I'm assuming that the kitchen was just trying to stay ahead for when they started filling up. But we would have preferred a slower pace to the meal. Likewise, the server was clearing plates before we were finished eating and brought the check within seconds of us completing dessert. Again, had the restaurant been busier, we'd have understood them trying to turn over the table. But it was still fairly empty by the time we finished. Thrilled to have this restaurant in our backyard, and will certainly come back often and will recommend to others. read more

Awesome first experience at Neat! We went for the Wednesday $25 charcuterie/bottle special. The charcuterie board was perfect - just enough meats, cheeses, hummus, toast points, olives, etc. and the house wine was surprisingly delicious. The staff treated us like queens and were very attentive and knowledgeable. The specialty cocktails were unique and delicious! The inside is modern and clean. Sat at the bar , in the middle of ordering drink the bartender just walked away, then came back 5 min later. Ordered drinks, watched the bartender put glasses away for a few minutes, then takes someone's food order, then puts it in the computer. Still no drinks. My wife went to talk to the manager and he pushed her shoulder telling her to leave?! I don't know who these restaurant people think they are lol lol. Your bar workers! Nothing more than the help. It took 27 minutes for the bartender to make a cocktail called wishful thinking. By the time the drink arrived to the table I was wishing I hadn't gone to Neat. Server and service was mediocre. No attention paid to what was ordered. A buffalo chicken wrap ordered without tomatoes arrived with tomatoes and a large amount of ranch dressing that tasted a bit like ceasar dressing. Absolutely no Buffalo sauce was on the wrap. No spicy taste whatsoever. Thankfully there were real blue cheese crumbles!! Fries were good though, likely will not go back.
