I'm not one to wear makeup but really needed foundation and powder for an upcoming event. The girl who helped me, Adrienne, was very nice. Although I was looking for makeup more than skincare, she made good recommendations based on my skin type. As we weren't getting anywhere w/ the Georgio Armani products, she referred me to the Le Metier de Beaute counter where I received awesome assistance. The quality and application of the product were flawless. I expected to pay an arm and a leg for my purchase (foundation, anti-aging powder and toner) but it wasn't so bad - $180. This review is for lunch only not the store. Had a chance to eat at the Routunda at Neiman Marcus. Lovely setting high up on the 4th floor. High windows that overlook Union Square. Full bar loaded with anything you crave. Want a glass of Opus One? You got it! Want a glass of high end French champagne? You got it. ( so many I can't list them here). Lunch menu - lots of starters// interesting things like lobster spring rolls with dipping sauce, lobster bisque etc. salads like Cobb ( $30) chicken salad with greens and avocado ($26)/-- you get the feeling-/ even a burger or if you prefer a turkey burger - The scene is mostly woman, SF women, that "lunch" daily in places like this. Dressed up nicely in full regalia including Chanel bags and very large diamond rings. How you ask do I know about the rings?? Well sitting next to us on both sides were the aforementioned ladies. I think It's SFs version of a Paris bistro except we weren't seated on the sidewalk / I really liked it actually and would go back. I would be remiss if I didn't mention their signature Popovers served with strawberry butter - comp starter. Fantastic. Why retail is failing. Walked in with my family of 6 after a show to buy the grandkids chocolates. We are white, we're well dressed and upper middle class. And probably the only customers on Sunday at 5:30. We were immediately eyed and followed through the store. We found chocolates on the 5 th floor and the older sales lady there also eyed us suspiciously was unhelpful. Even after buying $30 of chocolates she was unfriendly and not very nice. We had remembered a once vibrant chocolate department, but that's long gone and what's left is a mostly empty stores with unfriendly and unwelcoming employees. read more

A middle-aged white male staff while carrying a bin of plates and bowls (probably to the kitchen area) stopped and demanded what he could help me with in a loud voice in Neiman Marcus store at Union Square SF. It was a rude, obnoxious and condescending to treat me and my family like that. (Even my young teenage daughter understood the male staff's intention hiding behind such innocuous question). People, do not allow people to mistreat you like this. Don't shop at Neiman Marcus at Union Square (San Francisco). Spend your time and money elsewhere. You have that power and use it. When I call, they have a voicemail that will NOT allow me to talk to a human. I really wish I could do a stick steak in some Channel items. I'm afraid to just drive down to the ghetto-area this store is available, if they do not even have the items in stock. Ordered a Christmas gift Beginning of December - 1/2 of the order received and working with customer service has been very difficult to get an answer on the ETA of item 2. They offered to pay for shipping and give discount which I do not need. What I requested is a ETA or a tracking number of the item. Customer service states that the fulfillment center does not have a telephone for them to call to check on the order. I find it hard to believe there is not a phone number for the fulfillment center and each time I call the representative has a different story on the item location and the current 'possible' ETA. It is so sad, this store used to have amazing customer service, after repeated calls and promises - item still has not been received or have I been given a tracking number (obviously still has not shipped) read more

If you are buying fragrance, consider Nordstrom or Saks Fifth instead: Neiman Marcus's customer support just told me that I can not return perfume if I opened the package. Buying perfume can be tricky and it is hard to make a decision based on how the perfume smells on paper tester in the store. You should try wearing them on you for a day at least to understand if you like it or not, and if the fragrance suits you well. read more

I've been looking for the classic design Gucci T-shirt and I was hoping they would have it. We we're looking around at the Gucci section and the lady that was there didn't even say anything to us. So we looked for another sales person to help us. The one on display was a large and I needed a medium so Marco told us that they had one at the back. He went back there but he couldn't find it. Carmen, the SA was so sweet to me and my sister. I ended up purchasing my first Chanel bag and opening up a NM credit card. Two months later, I bought another Chanel bag, my dream bag that Chanel SF basically told me I'd never get. Had an issue with Neiman Marcus representative being untruthful about an item I purchased, so before purchase I called to the customer support asking if the item I wanted to purchase has any promotional discount or sales in the future? because it was designer item and it was for a future event I needed to attend months away and that I can put off purchase and wait for a sale and I was told, "no this is designer items don't go on sales and do not have promotions" which then I made the purchase right away because of what I was told I didn't ask for a name of who gave me misleading information but few months later this item is like $1000 off and when I called and asked why I was lied to and they explained that this item gets marked down when the vendor of the item marks the price on sale which I wasn't told about so I filed complaint and was declined a price match or any kind of compensation for this issue, this is horrible way of treating a customers it took them 5 days to respond to my complaint on top of all and was told it would take 24 to 48 hours to hear back from them. Neiman Marcus enjoy your sneaky earned $$ because I'll never purchase from you again. And do not recommend purchasing from Neiman Marcus I'll be better off using Net-A-Porter instead. read more

Nice location with a bunch of brand names. This location has the most beautiful high ceiling, it's very European feel. But the sales on the first floor was not as busy as the second floor on the shoe department. This by far was the best Neiman Marcus that I've been too. I browsed in Chanel and had a amazing experience. After I browsed in jewelry and bought something I took a look in the shoe department. Every single staff member was amazing and attentive. The restaurant is great! The service was excellent and I had the most amazing server. After leaving the store and browsing at another I realized that I couldn't find my purse (I went to the Chanel across the street to browse and tried on a few pairs of shoes after browsing I noticed that I couldn't find my personal purse) I tried to stay calm and I informed Neiman security that I couldn't find my bag and went back across to Chanel where I was last. As I was canceling cards I let the Chanel staff and security know that I could not find my bag. The security guard at Neiman Marcus found me inside the store and let me know that a purse was located. I really want to share my thanks to everyone at Neiman Marcus. I highly recommend this location and it's security and staff. I absolutely love this store, every time I come I end up purchasing something I didn't know I needed. The service here is exceptional as it should be. As crowded as it is you still get all the assistance you need. I came looking for holidays gift for my family in SoCal. I love how the store has a variety to choose from. My beauty consultant recommend creme de la met which I recommend to have for beautiful skin :) They also give you several samples to go along with it. The review is specifically for Nilson in the fragrance department. I stopped by the store yesterday, looking for a scent from LeLabo. Nilson told me the store doesn't carry it, but offered to show me several fragrances from the Frederic Malle line. He was very friendly, super knowledgeable and professional, and not at all pushy. He gave me a couple of samples and told me to think it over and also gave me his card in case I decide to purchase, which I definitely intend to do. I'm a stickler for high level customer service, which is difficult to find these days, but Nilson offers the type of service that often is the deciding factor for me, in whether or not I purchase an item, especially from a high end store like NM. The city of San Francisco has banned the sale of fur starting January 1st, 2019. There is an exception that fur may still be sold until the end of 2019 IF a product containing fur was purchased by the store prior to March 20, 2018, and IF the store can show official invoices that prove the purchase dates. Neiman Marcus still has TONS of fur on its racks, and when asked about it, they refuse to answer customer questions or show purchase order invoices. When the Health Inspector came to request invoices, all they provided was an excel spread sheet with a list of dates, that they can easily manually change. I can create an excel spreadsheet too. That is very different from providing official, uneditable invoices. Animals used for their fur are kept in tiny wire cages, are anally or vaginally electrocuted, and then have the skin ripped from their bodies while they are still alive. This is horribly cruel, unnecessary, and the opposite of beauty. It's time for Neiman Marcus to listen to the people of San Francisco, who've banned this torturous excuse for "fashion" from their city, comply with the law, and get these products of unimaginable violence out of their stores. Show your customers that you care about their moral standards more than you care about profiting from nightmarish cruelty. Nordstrom SF took ALL the fur-bearing products off their shelves. My friend and I stopped here at the cafe inside Neiman Marcus. We experienced THE worst service ever. We were waiting in line and when we got to the cash register, no one took our order. We then sat down at a table and was able to flag a waiter down. He threw us some menus, didn't bother to ask us what we wanted to drink, but asked the table right next to us if they were all good and if they wanted water refills. We only ordered two chocolate cakes but we had to flag down the waiter multiple times for utensils, napkins, and water. The waiter seemed so displeased and had such an ugly attitude like he wanted to serve every other table but us. Just because we're not drenched in Armani suits or Gucci handbags doesn't mean we get treated a lower level of respect or service. I really did expect a higher level of service from Neiman Marcus. I superior quality products that are going to last and make me feel fabulous! Most times those products come with a high price tag. On days when I venture into the San Francisco Neiman Marcus, I am always greeted with a pleasant smile by the ladies at the perfume counter while being mesmerized by the interior decor. The store is bright, spacious, glamorous and never overly crowded. Even though I know people come and go, moving items and touching things, it always looks perfect inside. Like they opened up just for me! I don't need to tell you but I will, the customer service is AhMazing!!! Thomas in the shoe department is my favorite. He has been with NM for several years and is in the know about the latest trends, the best designers and those you should avoid. I wish I knew him when I bought those death traps called So Kate! Danmark in beauty and cosmetics will make sure you are not walking around looking like a clown in these streets. He helped me with a return that really shouldn't have been a return. Now I will always come to him for my lux makeup needs. I've had other positive encounters in the Chanel and Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques, so all in the store staff are on the ball. I particularly like this location for the relationship building. I have the two gentlemen mentioned above in my phone contacts to keep me updated on special events, sales and new releases. If you like 5 star service and do not mind paying for it, then Neiman Marcus is where you want to shop. read more

I purchased a couple bowties online in anticipation of my wedding - one was a pre-tied and one was self tie. I ended up using the self tie one - it was by Eton and quite beautiful. The pre-tied bow-tie was quite expensive (Tom Ford). I tried it on one time and decided I would rather have the self-tie for the big day! So I went to return the pre-tie at the downtown store (keep in mind it had been tried one once) and the store manager refused to accept the return because it showed signs of wear. There were literally NO signs of wear. It was a pre-tie. You do a clasp and its on. Undo clasp and its off. It spent a combined total of 5 minutes outside of the box. I ended up going home and contacting N-M customer support and they were apologetic. Anyways, never going to this location again. Probably will just avoid Neiman Marcus altogether. I was under the impression they had a decent return policy. Apparently not. Buyer betware - shop somewhere else. read more

I wasn't seeing Ana@Valentino to buy another $4K dress with my Caucasian husband. I was with the Black woman and Hispanic man who create my brand, shop for me and keep me fresh on every stage and in every meeting. They pick up items for me as part of their job. If we can't comfortably and safely shop in your store without my husband present, you don't need my money or my Glam Squad's time/$. Caroline Herrera won't be pleased to know your store makes her brand look tacky and her products unbuyable, at least from your store. I can't run away with merchandise and neither can my glam squad which averages 53 years of age. We are not the looters you seek.
