I have lived around here long enough to see this building go through a bunch of variations of Mexican restaurants. So when I saw it was going to be a ramen/sushi/Thai place, I was skeptical. We finally gave it a try today for lunch and it was LOVE. I had the spicy miso ramen with fried chicken. It was perfect. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The ramen was hot and a perfect amount. My son had a salmon poke and smashed it, gave it rave reviews. We also split some sushi and the salmon avocado roll was a good size. The service was great! We will definitely be back.

I recently ordered from this place for the first time because I wanted to try something new, and I'm thrilled! I was craving ramen, and this one definitely exceeded my expectations. It was rich, full of flavor, and perfectly spicy--just the way I like it. They were also very generous with the meat. Besides the ramen, I ordered takoyaki, and it was delicious! But let's be honest--when is takoyaki not perfect? All in all, I'll be ordering my ramen and takoyaki from here from now on. My local spot just doesn't meet the criteria anymore.

I saw a review that said this place had a guy's fave tonkatsu ramen so I had to come in. The waitress recommended the spicy garlic miso ramen, and I love spicy and garlic, so I decided to give it a try. I asked if the base was the tonkatsu broth and she said yes. It was good but not the best ramen I've had. I got the fried tofu as protein and I liked the idea of having it on the skewer above the soup so that it would stay crispy. It did lack flavor though since I didn't soak it in the broth. Probably the pork would've been a better option. The place is small and cozy. The egg was ok, but I've had better. Def have also had worse. Overall not bad but I wouldn't say it's the best ramen. They also have sushi and Thai options (as the name would suggest).

In the few weeks this spot has been open, I've been back multiple times already! Staff is incredibly kind and attentive. The decor is cute. They made great use out of a smaller space. Tables are closer together but not crammed or uncomfortable. Food has always been solid! The garlic beef and pad see ewe have been my favorites so far.

    Don't Make Me Cry

I ordered two rolls: OMG and Don't Make Me Cry. The rolls were giant, but mostly because they were packed with way too much rice. You'll definitely say "OMG" when you eat the OMG roll--but not in a good way... The ginger inside completely overpowered the other flavors, and all that extra rice made the roll feel heavy instead of balanced. Don't Make Me Cry was also just okay and had so much rice.

What a gem in Jefferson Park! Best Tonkatsu Ramen I've ever had. Rangoon and Gyozo appetizers were excellent. Service was very good. Cute little restaurant. We will definitely return.

Shrimp Pad Thai....Theres only 3 Shrimp in the photo, but they gave me about 6-7 Shrimp. Just can't see them all here. The noodles were great. Had very good flavor, but the shrimps were not seasoned at all. I asked for spicy, and they forgot I'm assuming. I look forward to trying the curry next time. It's new to my neighborhood and so far it's pretty good.

My son and I had an amazing dinner here late on Monday night. We got orange chicken, and sushi. Everything was delicious. The orange chicken was lightly breaded and came very quick. OMG roll was amazing. But the pièce de résistance was the Kano Nemo roll with black rice! Perfectly seasoned and just everything right about it!

Shrimp roll was the winner for best bite. Wanted to love everything but woonsen could be cooked less. Sushi was yummy. Wanted more sauce for chicken and broccoli. Would've normally taken a star off for service but I want this business to last. Be patient and it's worth the wait. Very friendly service.

Welcome to the neighborhood Neko Sushi, Thai & Ramen! Grand opening was a couple days ago, and today was the first chance we had to stop in. The restaurant is very conveniently located on the corner of Milwaukee Ave and Farragut Ave. There is plenty of parking close by as well as a divvy bike station right outside. You can tell that the restaurant was recently fully remodeled, as everything looks new and clean. When we got here, we were sat fairly quickly and took some time to look over the menu. They offer a good variety of options across sushi, Thai and ramen. We started with some gyoza and crab Rangoon, which were both delicious! My husband ordered the tonkatsu ramen with pork belly and was very happy with his dish. I ordered chicken pad Thai which was also very tasty! I asked for extra peanuts for my pad Thai and the server brought it over very quickly. The portions are good sized and we both packed up leftovers to take home. It is nice to have this place close by home, and we are excited to try more dishes from here!

I loved the indoor outdoor feel of the space with the open windows, and they also have a nice outdoor seating area. The atmosphere is casual but cute, with a mix of bar, high top, and bench seating. We tried a few cocktails, which were good, and our server was friendly, patient, and gave great recommendations. But the absolute STAR of the meal was the crab rangoon dumplings. OMG. I already love crab rangoon, but these took it to another level. They were easily my favorite thing we ordered, and I would go back just for those. I'm not usually a big ramen person, but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the ramen was. We ordered a spicy option with fried chicken, and while I wasn't a fan of the fried chicken getting soggy in the broth, the ramen itself was delicious...honestly, the flavors were even better the next day after everything had soaked in. I ordered the karaage chicken nuggets and chicken and veggie dumplings, while my friend ordered the nuggets and fried chicken bun. Everything came out quickly and hot. The chicken nuggets were meaty and flavorful, and the sauce really elevated the dish. The fried dumplings were packed with vegetables and had a great texture. My friend enjoyed her fried chicken bun the most. She loved how soft the bun was and thought the sauce on the sandwich really brought everything together. We did have a little hiccup at the end of our meal. We waited for the bill for a while before flagging down our server, only to find out that the bill was connected to the QR code in the booth. I actually think that's a really cute and convenient concept, but it would be helpful if guests were told about it when they're seated or when the food is delivered. It would definitely save guests from sitting around wondering when their check is coming. Overall, another enjoyable experience at Ramen-San.

For the main attraction I ordered the spicy garlic ramen that was such a delightful mouth experience it really hit all the taste buds! The noodles were perfectly bouncy with the right amount of chew. The jellied egg was perfect and rounded the soup very well! The red chili threads enhanced the spicy miso broth just enough to slurp all the delicious goodness down! My husband ordered the Sapporo miso soup which had more of a creamy type of broth vs the spicy garlic. The noodles were also thinner than regular ramen & had a bouncy springy texture that just hit the spot! Since it was kinda chilly outside we also ordered hot green tea to accompany our spectacular ramen dishes. All my previous personal experiences…read morehave always proven to me that restaurants with names that don't represent their culture in distinct ways are generally subpar. For example, I would usually never even think to step into a restaurant named Best China House, Sushi Bistro, or Mom's Korean Restaurant. (Apologies if your shops are named as such. These were meant to be generic examples) Oh, how times have changed. I would have never thought having a bowl of ramen at a Monster Ramen would give me this much pleasure. Part of it will (in fact, most of it) be on me and my general philosophy on fusion cuisine and outdated gemerational gap. There was definitely a time when avoiding agorementioned type of restaurants may have been deemed smart. But I feel the new generation of restaurant owners and chefs have up'd their games in not only at better food making, but also accepting of a bit more irony. Anyone who knows me knows how much I stay away from trying anything "fusion." It's kinda funny to myself how hypocritical it is that I would be totally okay in substituting an ingredient or two when I'm missing some when cooking, but when it comes to paying money to sit and eat that I would judge chefs by thier style of cooking. Yes, a big part of it is based on a large pool of personally gathered data, but I do acknowledge that I need to open myself up a bit more. Case in point. I was recommended MR by a fellow Yelper and I decided to give it a whirl. I happened to have a friend and his son with me, so I was able to do small tastings of 3 different ramen. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. We collectively had bowls of shio, shoyu and miso specials. Plus, I ended up getting the Summer Special bowl to go for my wife. All of them had their individual charm to them but more importantly, each of them were made to perfection when it came to broth seasoning and noodle texture, which are THE two most important aspect of ramen, in my opionion. Not too salty nor bland soup. Perfectly dense noodles. I just loved all four! It wad when I tasted the yuzu in tgeir shio ramen that my wife would love it. Even though I brought her the spicy Sunmer version home, I still think it'll be worth bringing her and our daughter back when we get a chance to. Our server Dionne (I think) was most pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, too. It helped that I came before the dinner rush, although, I can also see more lively vibe being nice as well. Will be back with the fam definitely!
