Some time ago, after playing pickleball in Irvine. I decided to visit Viland Coffee since it's just opened. Viland Coffee is an upscaled, comfortable, modern bright and clean cafe with tables, seats inside and outside. It's not big, I would say it's similar to a size of most local Starbucks. Service is very friendly. You order at counter and they will call your name when the order is done. So I try young coconut blended coffee with half dozen beignets (you can order 6 or 12 only). My young coconut blended coffee is very smooth. Nice touch of dry coconut on top of cream. It's not super strong coffee or super strong coconut juice, so it's nice combination where they adjusted it perfectly. The beignets are just so good, soft, with good texture and kind of like a donut. I can probably eat 12 easily. It's got powdered sugar on top. It can get busy here, so come here during off peak time is highly recommended! These are definitely adequate drinks but just quite mediocre and overrated; similar drinks could be found anywhere else. I do find the espresso to be way too strong and more importantly that the flavor is so artificial (including strawberry, ube, etc). I was also quite annoyed once trying to place an order on the sight while it kept crashing; I called in and was second-guessed or interrogated before my order was taken. As I'd lie about the site crashing; oh how ridiculous! But for what it's worth, it's definitely adequate coffee that will get the job done and get you your coffee fix if you're really craving some. Got the uji matcha tofu, Vietnamese coffee and tofu pudding. Uji matcha tofu - this is very interesting as I've never seen it offered elsewhere before. Got 50% sweet and 50% ice. At 50% it is actually a bit too sweet after factoring in the tofu pudding, which adds sweetness to the drink. This is a rather interesting combination and I was surprised how well it worked together. The matcha they used isn't anything too special but it's the tofu pudding that made it good. Vietnamese coffee- 50% sweet and 50% ice. Note that they don't fill the cup all the way up which is inconsistent because they filled it up for the matcha. All I can say is that there's better coffee options on that street. Tofu pudding- I think they put a layer of coconut milk on top. It's extremely sweet. I wish the sweetness levels could be adjusted. The tofu pudding isn't what you'd get at the markets- it's more watery and jiggly but not in a bad way. Just different and still enjoyable. read more

Beignets are tasty but must eat fresh while they're nice and hot. Coffee was tasty and service was prompt and fast. The area is nice with plush seats off to the side but it only leaves room for 2/3 large groups plus a few 2-3 person tables/chairs near the entrance. Parking can be a pain here so I'd come on non-rush periods. Def would come again! read more

A friend recommended this spot bc I'm on the hunt for the best matcha spot in OC. I ordered online because I anticipated how busy the store could get, but when we got there was only 1 person in line. However, we still had to wait 10 mins over our estimated pick up time to get our drinks. I ordered the Uji Matcha Tofu with extra Matcha Cream ($9) and the Viland Coffee ($7.75) Coffee was good. The creme brulee top paired really well with the coffee. Matcha was okay. I liked the tofu element but despite how green it was, the matcha did not really come through. This review is for their matcha and beignets. I only came here because I've heard it has good matcha. I got their signature Uji Matcha Tofu which consist of matcha with some silky tofu in it. By default it comes with oat milk. It turned out sweeter than I thought and much have preferred it less sweet. The tofu in it was nice and can easily be slurped up through the skinny straw. The actual matcha though didn't taste of high quality. It sure was not ceremonial or organic and the color was a dull darker color. The person I came with got their matcha coconut water drink. He said it was okay. We shared their beignets which the smallest size comes in a bag of 6 beignets. Some were powdered with sugar but some barely had any powdered sugar. Very popular coffee stop on Bolsa. There is a huge parking lot behind it so it was very easy to park. You enter the storefront from Bolsa. I bookmarked Viland when they had their grand opening because I happened to be eating right next door and noticed a long line when we were leaving. I was curious about the hype and honestly, the beignets caught my attention! I only really associate getting fresh beignets with Disneyland so I was excited to eventually come back and try them. Fast forward to today...I finally made it in and I'm so glad I did. The space itself has such a cute and inviting vibe. It feels modern but still cozy and it's the kind of place where you can easily stop by for a little coffee break. The atmosphere definitely adds to the experience. I love anything with young coconut so of course I had to try their coconut coffee and matcha drinks. I asked the guy (with glasses) at the register to make my drink not too milky, and he understood the assignment because wow... it was SO good. He was so patient and accommodating considering that there was a line behind me that it made my first time there positive. You could actually taste the coconut bits in both the matcha and coffee latte which made the drinks even better. The ube matcha was probably one of the best I've ever had. I'm usually not a huge fan of ube flavored things unless it's authentic ube halaya because some ube drinks can be too sweet or artificial tasting. This one was perfect it wasn't doing too much and had just the right amount of sweetness, and the flavors were balanced so well. I didn't get a chance to try the beignets this time..but now I have another reason to come back! Parking can be a little tricky since Viland is located along a busy street and shares parking with several other busy businesses. You may have to circle around for a bit, but it's worth it. I've been wanting to try this matcha tofu pudding for the LONGEST time. I loved how smooth the tofu pudding was and it was the perfect sweetness. Great plaza, good location in Little Saigon with plenty of other great Vietnamese businesses nearby. Ambiance - blends well with the Vietnamese culture scene, but still maintaining a nice clean classy and more modern aesthetic take to it. There are tables and chairs inside and outside too, so that's nice. Service - good, no complaints. I had a birthday reward I wanted to redeem. Note that Viland Coffee & Yummy Bakery are under the same owner, and the $5 Birthday Reward can only be redeemed once. I thought it was going to be $5 at Viland and $5 at Yummy, since they're separate restaurants - but nope, just a heads up for others using their rewards program through Toast. the interior is Viland is so pretty and well decorated with a pretty displace case. the hojicha is a new drink and i'd rate it a 7.5/10. the uji matcha tofu is a 8/10, the tofu is such a great add on the the drink but it does overpower the matcha taste. we also bought some tofu to bring home. the parking here is not bad as it is in a plaza with other busy shops. it's located near other good dessert and drink shops too! read more

This coffee & tea shop is a good place to hang out and study as there are a fair amount of tables, with pretty good and reasonably priced drinks. My drink came out in good time too. I tried their new coconut matcha. It was less than $7, which is a "steal" nowadays. The coconut water was good and the matcha foam was too. I got the foam at half sweet and I think that it was a good middle between maintaining matcha's bitterness and having some sweetness. Unfortunately, my low rating is due to their sanitation. I went to use the restroom, where they were out of soap. I let a worker know . I studied here for a few more hours then went to use the restroom once more before I left. The soap dispenser was now full but barely worked and what came out did not lather. This is because they had replaced the soap dispenser with hand sanitizer. Very unsanitary for it to not be real soap and then considering some of the workers probably wash their hands here then prepare food and drink. read more

If someone pays the full amount for a full cup, why is there any hesitation and attitude in making sure the customer properly receives what they paid for? The shop itself is on the smaller side, so seating can feel a bit cramped, and it's often crowded. The decor is cute though! One thing I'd probably skip next time is the beignets. They might be better fresh or warmed up, but when I've had them, they've tasted a bit stale and didn't live up to the rest of the menu.
