LapFix ordered the replacement, only to be sent the wrong product. LapFix re-ordered a correct replacement and charged me over $100 for labor. The replaced screen only lasted 2 months before splitting apart again. I'm not a hipster that drags my laptop around town and park at coffee shops for hours, my laptop rarely leaves my home. When I returned to LapFix they plan to order from the same supplier and will charge me another $350 to replace the screen. I said no thank you, at this point I might as well buy a whole new laptop. Hey LapFix, maybe you should change suppliers, they're probably selling you refurbished crap.

Marcus was a gem and helped send over some files that I wasn't able to back up before handing him my laptop. He definitely went above and beyond. He was extremely responsive, and I got my laptop back and sheeee isss looking cutee!!! It's like I have a brand-new laptop. To be transparent with costs and services: I paid for a diagnosis ($99), a new battery ($52), and repairs/replacements for my keyboard, webcam, computer screen, and whatever else was messed up ($399). Even though it seemed like a lot, it really is not when you think about the context. --I got to keep my 7-year-old computer that I LOVE, and now it feels brand new. A new laptop with the exact same processor/ram would've killed my bank account. I also live in NYC usually, and I KNOW this would've been WAY more. --I know NOTHING about fixing computers. While I can do YouTube searches to do minor software troubleshoots, I don't even know how to open up a laptop to see what's inside. --They're professionals who have gained years of knowledge, education, and experience to be able to do this. It might seem like a couple of days of work, but it's years of time and money put into learning this craft. --I didn't have to leave my home. There was no driving to a store or finding time to pick it up. It's like DoorDash but with your computer. --They're family-owned, Black-owned, and veteran-owned. Stop giving Apple or whatever corporation your money!! Shop small and shop local. Invest in your community. My PC, which I built a few years ago, was powering on but not displaying anything on the monitor. I decided to save time by taking it to a professional instead of troubleshooting it myself. Similar to how I might change my own oil but often leave it to a professional for convenience, I expected a straightforward experience. Initially, the tech seemed to fix the issue within a few hours. He moved the GPU to a different slot and switched from HDMI to DP--an easy fix requiring no parts. Unfortunately, the interactions I had with the tech by text and phone left me with little confidence in his ability, and I ultimately decided to finish the repairs myself. When I called to ask about diagnosis costs, I was told it could cost up to $250, depending on the complexity. However, I was promptly billed the full $250 as soon as the computer was picked up--before any work had even been done. This felt unusual and concerning, as I typically expect to be billed after the diagnosis or repair work is completed. One major issue was the tech's recommendation to replace my CPU heatsink, which has no moving parts and was in perfect condition. His justification was that "missing clips" would make mounting new fans impossible, and that a new heatsink would include the necessary clips. But buying replacement clips costs just $4 on Amazon--or free from the manufacturer if I provided proof of purchase for new fans. Suggesting I spend $130 on a new heatsink instead of offering a much cheaper and simpler solution is unacceptable. When the PC was returned, the heatsink was in a grocery bag, which he claimed was for my "convenience." This actually made reassembly more inconvenient, as I then had to reinstall it myself. He offered to put it back, but he didn't have thermal paste on hand--a critical component. Installing a heatsink without thermal paste could destroy the CPU. If I hadn't known better, I might have let him do it, which would have caused irreparable damage. The tech also claimed to have worked on the PC for three days, but text messages show the main issue was resolved within hours. Beyond that, he unnecessarily removed parts, suggested replacing components that didn't need it, and generally made the situation more complicated than it needed to be. After this experience, I simply don't trust this company. While pick-up and delivery were convenient, the overall service left me disappointed.

I've always been a PC user and recently decided to join this century and purchased a MacBook Air (which I LOOOOOVE, incidentally). I had it just about three weeks before it had a major accident...a rendered unusable sort of accident that I can hardly speak of without getting mad all over again. I thought it was not salvageable. I ran to the Apple Store in tears asking for guidance, and oh how they steered me wrong. They recommended a place called Kroll Ontrak way down I66. I drove out there with my machine and left it with them for three days to "analyze it," for which they charged me $65. They called me back once it had been brought back from "the clean room," whatever that is, and told me that they had taken the liberty of beginning the downloading process. I thought that was all really considerate until they gave me the quote for this service. And I choked on it. It wasn't much really; they only wanted my mercedes and my first born child. And there was no room for negotiation. None. So I took back my computer, paid them for their so called analysis, and was on my merry way. I turned to Yelp and found MACS in Alexandria---what a stroke of luck that turned out to be! I called and spoke to Will (the owner). I told him about the fate that had befallen my beloved MacBook Air and his response was, "no problem, bring it in." He was able to salvage everything: years and years worth of files, some new software I had purchased and coincidentally lost the disks for, all my emails, bookmarks and photos! On top of all that, he was able to then file it all away properly on my new MacBook Air. There were no "clean rooms" and there weren't any sort of mysterious processes like Kroll Ontrak had described to me. The best part was that he didn't want my car or my kid, just $125. SO, so reasonable. Later that day I had logged in to my new computer and remembered a question I had meant to ask him about something else unrelated. I called and he offered to fix it for me by logging into my computer remotely using TeamViewer (my old company used to use that software so I was comfortable with this--I know how it works). Talk about customer service! It wasn't even related to the original problem, it was just a question about a functionality on my computer. He just whizzed right around on it and fixed it with no effort. He also pointed out a great mac tutorial site to me so I could learn how to use my computer more effectively. SO NICE! I will not hesitate to use Mid Atlantic Computer Solutions again in the future. They are GREAT!!!
