Inside of the Magic Carpet Ride
    Dara S.

Looking for dinner before the Fever game and Sauce on the Side was a great choice. It is right across Pennsylvania Street from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was pretty busy. I ordered the Magic Carpet Ride (Crimini, Button, Portabella & Shiitake Mushrooms, Roasted Garlic Puree, Parmesan, Mozzarella, Ricotta, Garlic Honey Oil with Garlic Butter dipping sauce) for $11.59 at the counter. They give you a table marker and an employee brings your food out to you. It came out hot and fresh. I could not taste the difference in all of the mushrooms. The garlic butter dip reminded me of a garlic aïoli not a butter. The size of the calzone was large and more than I could eat in one seating. And since I was heading to the game I threw away about half. There is a lot of seating. Nothing special about the space. White walls and basic tables and chairs. I will go back and share that calzone with my mom. I think she would love it.

First off, this place was right outside our hotel lobby! Quick walk for lunch. Right across from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Calzones are very large, 10" pizza [basically] folded in half. The coolest part about this experience for me was the Craft Soda fountain!!! I tasted several different flavors but settle on the Original Ski(Lemon/Orange combo) it kind of resembled Mt. Dew in look and taste. Holy flavor explosion in your mouth! The "Duke" WAS amazing! The dipping sauce was a combo of ranch and BBQ sauce of some type, totally gave it that extra punch of flavor! The salad was very similar! Overall, the food we had was amazing! The service was quick. No wait to order, probably only waited about 15 minutes total before we were chowing down! Would come here again!

Magic carpet ride is truly magic for you garlic and mushrooms lovers.

Sauce is a national chain and if you've ever been to one you know they do a good job of keeping the quality consistently good. More specific to this location the workers are super friendly and helpful and of course the food is good. They have an epic location right across the street from the gainbridge fieldhouse, making it an excellent place to grab a bite before a pacers game or concert and not have to worry about being late. Portions are huge so i recommend splitting with someone and kicking back and enjoying the big window views of the comings and goings at the arena.

These calzones are to die for. I first tried them in St Louis, so I was ecstatic to find out there was an Indy location. The meet me in st louis is delicious, plus you can get Ski soda on tap. My husband is from STL, so these flavors are the flavors of home. A great casual place for some good food.

Absolutely the best calzone I've ever had. The dough was light and crisp, the ingredients were top notch and well done, the Sauces were delicious, and that parm on top was the finishing touch!! The sheer size is impressive. You get your money's worth here - in all the ways. We order for delivery and our order was hot and packed well. You can tell these are handmade and made to order. This will definitely be a staple in my Friday night life!

4 stars. Delicious lunch. Reliable delivery. The smokehouse salad was a nice size. However, the basil was off putting. I'll leave that off next time. The rosemary vinaigrette was very pungent. Not to my liking. I tried the of the calzones. All were tasty. My only issue was with the size of the garlic pieces. No one wants to bite into huge pieces of garlic when eating, but the mushroom calzone is filled with garlic. I think the garlic should be finely minced. Looking forward to ordering from here again soon.

This review encompasses two consecutive days of calzone delight. We stopped by our first and ordered a Carmen and the roasty toasty. We enjoyed both, but agreed the fontina cheese of the Carmen pushed it to the top spot. The next day we wanted to try more offerings and got a Fatty B and a meet me in St Louie. Again, both were excellent. After our 4 calzones we ranked 1 - Carmen 2 - Fatty B 3 - Meet me in St Louie 4 - Roasty Toasty On top of our calzone delight, the soft drinks are also out of this world. We sampled every offering and enjoyed near all of them. For two people who dont drink soda, this comes as quite the surprise. We highly recommend dining here.

I have been here a couple of times now, and I will continue to return. Ordering at the counter is fine by me - the workers are friendly, and they bring your food to your table and clear it for you. Food is served on real plates, and there is a nice supply of real, reusable silverware and napkins awaiting guests on every table. LOVE that. Plus, carryout containers are biodegradable! It's a cool, casual atmosphere, with large windows, great for natural lighting (and watching people across the street at the fieldhouse). I had the Garden Calzone on the first visit, and I remember it being tasty and sizeable. My husband enjoyed his Fatty B Calzone, although he said it was a little salty. The second time, I tried the Spinach Artichoke Bites for something a little smaller. These definitely hit the spot. They are panko-breaded little bites of cheesy, spinach artichokey goodness, and the pesto queso dipping sauce is yummy! My husband also said, "Wow, those are really good" when he tried one.

Uber delivery. Still great. Trued their St Louis location, glad they have an Indy location. Size was enough for me, ordered the buffalo bites also--both very good. I tried the Figgy Piggy this time.

Ever been walk-in around and just felt the need for a calzone? If so meander your way downtown Indy near the Pacers arena and you'll find Sauce on the side. Calzones and salads are their jam. They have about 12 different calzones and just as many salads. My three things: 1 ) Different Soda options with more of a micro brew kinda locality. 2) Costanza hit the spot but has large peals of garlic. Had to sort some out. 3) Place is clean and lots of seating. They have a bar if you want/need a drink with your calzone. Check it out nice spot!

You better come hungry. Big calzones with lots of fillings. The calzone was cooked to perfection. Order at the counter and food is delivered to the table. Each one is made fresh so it's a 10-15 minute wait. Good selection of beer and sodas

I forgot what I order but add jalapeño

Mmmmm so tasty. Fun place. Great food. Walked in off the street and very impressed with the quality of the calzone. Was huuuuge too and so I wasn't even able to shove it down it was so big, and I can usually pack stuff away.

If you and 12 of your friends want something to eat, this is the place for you. I ate maybe half of my calzone and I was so full the rest of the day. You could definitely split a calzone between 2 or 3 people and be good. I had the Roasty Toasty which was cheese, chicken, arugula, and pine nuts with pesto. It was of course delicious. The s'mores was delicious too. We ate almost the whole thing before I realized I didn't get a picture. The staff were really friendly and explained the menu and all our options. The location was super cool, right across from the fieldhouse. Parking was a little difficult but that's to be expected with any downtown location.

The inside is cute but there is no seating inside. You're going to get a little messy eating your cinnamon roll and want to be in the privacy of your own home anyway. Yes, these are quite a bit pricer that's for sure. People were buying one of everything in line. I was like wow! Some Items the combinations of flavors didn't appeal to me. I love tiramisu and pecan pie so I got them both. One suggestion I would have is to have utensils and napkins at the table for people to use. The pastries I bought are really temperature sensitive and need to be kept cold. Both had a cream - mousse inside. They wouldn't last long only a day or to the next. I loved the pecan item I ordered. It was great! The tiramisu one I wouldn't order again. The bottom flakey part was so bitter. I love coffee and expresso and tiramisu. But, the whole thing just wasn't what I thought it would taste like. Now I know. :-( Creamy, sweet, smooth, with a kick of coffee all come together to make a great tiramisu. The bitter taste of espresso paired with the sweet mascarpone cream filling reminded me of the holidays when I would watch my mom make tiramisu for our family. While a lot of people prefer a sweeter espresso, I thought this was perfect and very true to a traditional tiramisu taste The Pear Kouglof reminded me of a fresh yeast donut that's been tossed in sugar This was a very kid-friendly pastry in taste and while I wasn't too blown away by it, it did make me wonder if I would have preferred it with a stronger, more potent, fruit. The Cherry Basque Cheesecake -- this pastry was the house favorite. The texture of this cheesecake was creamy, but somehow still spongey.. cakey, but more like pudding. Mix that with the juiciest sour cherries and the crunch of a biscoff crust.. mind blown was an understatement. We're looking forward to what Beurre Sec has planned for their next pop-up

That could not be more true. We both did Pick Two: I got a chicken salad sandwich and my mother got a turkey and cheese both with the soup of the day which was butternut squash. Soup was OK, sandwiches were OK. I got a side of chips (not made in-house) for $3. My daughter was upset when we arrived bc she was napping in the car and she proceeded to cry for about the first 10 minutes so, I walked around with her to calm her before I sat down since it's so cramped to try not to disturb everyone else. She was not happy the entire time so we were trying to calm her and feed her. Cake slices and cheesecake are $17-20 each. They're large but other reviews say dry and taste old. That's pricey. We skipped dessert at those prices based on the quality of the rest of our meal... I got an $8 peppermint mocha which was good but, served in the smallest teacup imaginable. It's extremely small inside. Like, uncomfortable. Granted, I had a lot of items with my baby and her and we were seated at a table for two with her in my lap but it was close quarters and the waitresses were squeezing between the chairs to walk around. They have about 6 tables inside with a small event private room in back. Our waitress was kind but, the manager or owner was off-putting. She went to every single table seated except ours to ask how their meal was and experience and, when time to pay, she wanted to personally ring me up to ensure we left in a hurry. I get it, some places are not meant for babies, but, since it's billed specifically to kids, I thought this was. Nope, I was wrong. (She's 19 months - so, too young for this bougie of an establishment clearly) I would not come back at all unless it was for my, older daughter to have a birthday cake experience and get a couple cute pics. As far as instagram-worthy goes, they know what they're doing. As far as quality of food. It's like a 2.5 stars. I wish we'd waited and walked into the larger one in Carmel and just shopped and got some cookies to go!

The menu is extensive so there are a lot of options, one might even say, too many options. Since we visited around 8:45 pm there was no line and we had a lot of time to ask about their offerings. The person working the register was kind and handled our questions with ease. We sat at a table with our number stand and then we were served. It wasn't that our desserts were bad they just were a lot for two people. Talk about sugar rush!! What we did end up eating was tasty and seemed very fresh. I love this concept and hope more people venture out to check it out. The vibe is very chill and there a chairs and tables plus couches if you want a different experience. Be warned you will be filled to the brim with chocolate but who says that's a bad thing.
