I heard from many that this place was THE PLACE to go for burgers in the area. I'd driven by it a bunch of times and it's always crowded, so I thought it must be good. I finally make my way out there one afternoon; I love burgers, I think it's hard to get them wrong. But it certainly didn't live up to the hype. Eating here is experiencing a bit of local history. The history of when there weren't other choices. Now you are paying $6.25 for a loaded burger. No fries or drink are included. Eating environment is basic tables and umbrellas. The burger is not the preformed chain type but that is the only unique or reason to drive out of your way to have a burger. I don't normally do reviews, however this place is way overrated. I found nothing exceptional during my visit. I appreciate the fresh meat but other than that, the meat simply had no flavor. I ordered a nessy burger with all the accoutrements and it was just bland. The other reason for the low rating is the cost. I was just at Nessy Burgers over the weekend this place OMG is soooo good. The burgers are so large and everything is fresh from the veggies to the meat. The burger coast around $7 and it is so worth it, you pay that at fast food chains and it doesn't even compare. Alos the fries are good and to top it off the pickles you get yourself are so good to. I would give it 3 1/2 stars, but rounded up to 4. After hearing about this place and looking it up on Yelp, I made a stop here before golfing at Pala Mesa. My 13 yr old son's favorite food is cheeseburgers and he loved it. The burger is juicy, flavorful and big! I added bacon, which was kind of costly, but they used a good quality bacon. My brother in law liked it as well, although he slightly favors the Red Rooster in Oceanside for burgers in our area. Definitely worth a stop if you're on the 15. Plus, you gotta love the little shack on the side of the road atmosphere. Oh, and go with the advice of other Yelpers, buy your drink at the gas station. read more

Great hamburger! Hole-in-the-wall place, actually its a trailer. But don't be fooled. The food is great. I live in OC but will try usually try to go here when I visit the area. I love their fries... one of the last places to still have the wedge-cut style fries. They use Canola oil to cook their frys, not cheap soybean oil which gets me sick. Hamburger not always consistent, I have had a burger on the dryer side, but usually it is very moist, and is the reason I first got hooked. For a couple years I drove by, always intrigued by the often long lines in front. So I finally decided to try it, and i don't regret it one bit. Great hole in the wall with great food. I've lived in Fallbrook for several years now and driven by Nessy Burgers many, many times. Always saw a large crowd there. My boyfriend and I finally stopped by last night to see what the fuss was about (we were also encouraged by all the good reviews on Yelp). The burgers are definitely a good size but as far as taste goes, very disappointing. The meat was bland. Whatever seasoning they used (if any) didn't bring out the flavor of the meat... even with all the fixings. Won't be eating there again. We will be going back to our beloved Five Guys. read more

I so wanted to love the place. The Nessy burger was an awesome $5 burger. The fries were a subpar Ore Ida frozen in a bag at the grocery store, totally not seasoned at all that cost $3, the smallest bottle of water was $1.25 and sodas in a can were $1.25. But unfortunately we ended up going to the market next door and discovering where Nessy's tomatos/produce for the burger came from which was a huge disappointment. And after reading someone had diarrhea from here, its not a surprise. Before you head to Nessy go into Pala Mesa market and see what they pass for produce and then make Nessy isn't using those tomatoes or lettuce or onions on their food. Also I should comment that it costs $3 for a dozen canned sodas, their market up is sickeningly outrageous. I'd pay $1.25 if it was triple the size, a fountain soda and it came with ice. Not to mention our burgers didn't come with the sauce that the sign says it does and their menu is so simple but apparently there's a hidden menu folks aside from the locals wont ever know about because we saw someone order their onions a certain way. They need to fix that. So wish we knew that before ordering what we did. We would have ordered the steak, but wasn't sure if it was a burger or a slab of steak on a bun or not. I think they need to fix that so folks know what they are getting exactly. Also the sitting area was just a good idea gone wrong. Loved the outdoor seating, but having more shade, less bees and flies and easier access to condiments that aren't sitting in the sun all day and trashcan and utensils and such would be smart. I think if they put a tent up in the back (which they have room for and they have clear tents now) it would protect the diners from being bombarded by bees and add more shade. Also they need bigger shades or umbrellas or something. A nice fabric canopy draping across the front and sides would be a nice addition and still allow for the light and nice view. The trash cans also need to be closer to diners with bee and fly traps around them or all in one area on the way to the parking lot or have the tables bused or something. Especially if you plan to have an eatery or permanent food truck location with al fresco dining next to a nursery that would something you need to cater to. They have a graveled lot in the back but there are paved parking spots next door to them you can use right next to the seating. For now Ill rate the place A-Ok because everything was ok but could improve. Too bad because the burgers were awesome and worth the $5. Everything else was average or below average. The service was also no frills, totally disorganized in how you order, no explanations on anything, no smiles...just boring service. Wasn't tip worthy at all. For one person for a meal,drink, tax and tip it was $5 for the burgers, $2.75 for the fries , $1.25 for drink, tax a couple of bucks, and tip (if it was tip worthy) another couple of bucks makes it a moderately priced place. But it does have some value. We'd go back if in the area again and see if things improve or not, and if not we can always take it go, lol. read more

I agree with all Manny and Joe M said and more. For years, my family and I have been stopping at Nessy's on the way to or from the beach, just as we did yesterday and we were not disappointed. The Nessy burger is simply like big backyard burger, always very tasty! They are known for their burgers, both beef and turkey (get a clue from their name), so we haven't tried much of their other few choices on the menu. We've had their breakfast sandwiches which were really good too. Don't be fooled by appearances, their place is like a food truck, only a trailer. Nessy Burgers is at a much better location than the gas station stop, right next to a nursery. But blink, and you might miss it, as it is small and they blend in with the greenery. They do need a bigger, brighter sign. For those who were concerned about the condiments out on the tables, that is no longer the case. The main bottles are kept cool in the shade and you pour what you need into small, plastic containers. Bottom line give Nessy Burgers a chance. Don't go there expecting gormet, just old-style, simple and delicious! read more

This IS the best burger in San Diego County, for me. I like the BURGER and not the multitude of items can put on it, sauces, produce, other meats... bleh... gimmie a damn burger and make it good. They serve two burgers, with cheese and without. There are other items on the menu ranging from eggs and ham to top sirloin steak but I have only had the GLORIOUS Nessy Burger. These are burgers like your most skilled uncle may have made on the 4th of July. These are the burgers that your dad wishes he could throw together real quick on a Sunday afternoon. we are talking about a thick (probably 1/2 pound) burger, angus beef (saw the delivery truck) lettuce tomato and onion, thousand island dressing and a good bun. THATS IT. BEAUTIFUL. Look at the photos from other reviews, this just IS what it IS and you will love it. The little roadside grill on the 76 can sport a line but it moves quick. Do yourself a HUGE favor and give this little place a try if you find yourself near Bonsall/Fallbrook, this is a family favorite for us. read more

So after many years of hearing about this place we decided to try it out after we had some nice weather after the rains in the area. I was excited to check it out as I had heard that the burgers were outstanding. The trailer was just as I imagined, in a parking lot of a small grocery with tables around it. The tables were all nice and clean and the area was well kept. There was a line at the ordering window, which was a good sign. We place our order-two Nessy Burgers, and some fries. Even with the crowd, we did get our order promptly and the ladies working were freindly and nice (hence the stars I did give). However, the burger was just a lot of hype. It was a big burger, and I did appreciate the toasted sesame bun, but the patty itself, although quite large, tasted like french onion soup mix meatloaf. It was not tastey at all and they put waaaaayyy too much thousand island dressing. It just didn't taste as good I hoped and it surely did not live up to the rep that I had heard. My burger joint! I was first introduced to Nessy back when they were still at the location on Hwy 76. I heard how good they were from a lot of my fam and friends. So when I moved here from Carson it was one of the first places I visited. To be honest when we first got there I was NOT impressed. A trailer in a parking lot and a few tables to eat at was not making a very good first impression on me. I looked over the menu and finally decided to order a dbl Nessy w/ cheese, egg and bacon. And of course I had a side of fries. Let's just say I've been a regular ever since. This has become my go to when my fam from out of town want a burger!! I like the new location and it's conveniently located right next to a liquor store. I get my ice cold POWERade there and then I go order my dbl Nessy For all those that have written that the outdoor eating area is nasty because all the bees and flies get over it! On 9/12/14 I stopped by on my way home from Temecula only because my nephew has always wanted to eat at Nessy's. This is a very casual place. I don't know what all the hype is about. First impression was not good. It's a little shack with a port-a-potty in the back. I was disgusted with the amount of flies. I don't think I've ever seen so many flies! I had to eat in the car because there were so many, no kidding! If you're allergic to bees watch out for the recycle bins of soda pop. They are covered with bees. I was surprised they have an "A" rating from the health department. I didn't eat my hamburger, I think because I lost my appetite when I saw the flies. The patty tastes "beefy." Probably grass fed? They are located off to the side of a liqour store. I saw people buying alcohol from the store and drinking it at Nessy's Burgers. I don't know if they have or need a permit for that. There is outdoor seating if want to eat surrounded by flies and bees. My nephew loved the food. I on the other hand didn't like it at all and I will not be back. I thought it was over priced too. $22.00 for two burgers, one order of french fries and two sodas. I'd much rather go to Red Robin! read more
