I'm falling in love with these !!!!

I really love with this food. Beef don, Agedashi Tofu and seaweed salad. Prices are cheap !!! I used to get sushi foods and today it was my first time I have kitchen foods. Its very tasty :) It tasted just like the family food I ate in Japan last year. To compare this store, it is like a small Japanese restaurant that only local people in Japan enjoy eating. The atmosphere is quiet, the food is qualitative and quantitative. It is very peaceful place for couples and singles to avoid from noisy resturant. The reason I wrote this review is some reviewers critizied this resturant so I coulnd't ingore that evry customer has different experiences I understand that. But I had nice times with this resturant. So I'm writing for those who might hesitate to go on a bad review.

Living 5 minutes from the restaurant this has become our families staple for sushi. When entering you are greeted by the staff in a traditional Japanese greeting. The wait staff is eager to seat you and take your drink orders immediately. They have private tables for private parties and can accomodate up to 30 guests on a table in the main dining area. Their bar seats up to 8 people and the chefs are always friendly. The best part about Sushi 21 is the quality food and the low prices. They have take out and even have nice presentation on the take out. i highly recommend this for all sushi eaters!

    The Oysters!!

The OYSTERS are to die for. Theyre bigger than the average $3/piece at fancy restaurants. My husband and I go here 2x a month and love it everytime. Its best to order ahead bcus it takes time to prepare the oysters. The red sauce is what makes it so delicious so ask for extra sauce n lime.

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! Prices were just about as you'd expect: not too high, but not super cheap either...but wholly justified by the great food and lovely service and experience! It's quaint - doesn't have a lot of decor, but it's decent looking. We sat at a two top by the front door and window, but it is next to a short wall with a decorative piece on the shelf so it makes that table kind of private. We were amazed to see how many servers they had working that evening when we arrived 7:30 pm without a reservation. There were probably six open tables and within half an hour the place was completely packed so they had staffed up well with five servers for maybe 15 tables. We enjoyed the ike karaage which is octopus tentacles. They call them squid on the menu, but squid tentacles are much smaller than that. They were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The dipping sauce was super light and fluffy maybe with a tiny bit of lemon and miso and it complemented the karaage very well. We also had the blistered shishito peppers which were dusted with ground red pepper and came with a soy base dipping sauce and a lemon. We thought maybe they would be good with the miso lemon aïoli, but actually they were much better dipped in the soy sauce mixture. My entree was the sashimi salad, which really had an enormous amount of fish. All I could see was tuna and salmon chunks (probably leftovers that could not be used in sushi because of their shape) with a nice mixture of greens and tobiko. It was lightly dressed with a soy, ginger and sesame vinaigrette and very tasty. My husband had the hama chili roll and it was very light but flavorful. The pricing is great and we plan on returning in the near future.

It was freezing, so I pivoted and ended up at Umaka Ramen -- honestly, not mad about it. Since I'm currently on a cut, I skipped ramen (painful, I know ) and went with the chicken teriyaki entrée with sauce on the side. It came out on a sizzling plate which made it feel extra legit, and the salad was actually beautifully plated...not just a throwaway side. That said... for $24, I still kinda feel like they should've just included the miso soup instead of charging extra. BUT -- the miso soup? They did NOT skimp. Loaded with tofu and seaweed, super comforting, and honestly one of the better ones I've had. Service and ambiance were both great...clean, cozy, and a nice escape from the cold mall chaos. Overall, a-ok in my book Not mind-blowing for the price, but solid, satisfying, and they gave me exactly what I ordered.

Especially to save anybody else from what we had to endure. We came in for dinner after a long, exhausting day of running errands.... myself, my sister, and my 83-year-old mother. We were seated modestly quickly, which gave us hope. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that went right. Shortly after being seated, a man who appeared to be our server approached us not to take our order, but to tell us he was "too busy" to wait on us and that someone else would come. That set the tone immediately. When another server finally did come over, things didn't improve. It took OVER 15 minutes for Server to acknowledge us, And another 10 minutes just to take our order, while we watched multiple tables who were seated after us being served promptly and efficiently. At that point, we should have left. I eventually received an appetizer, but my mother and sister received nothing. As I sat there awkwardly picking at my food, we watched surrounding tables (who arrived after us), receive full meals before us. We flagged down our server, and only then were we casually informed that my mother's meal had been given to another table. No apology beforehand. No proactive communication. No attempt to correct it until we had to ask. Let that sink in: an elderly woman sat there (over a hour now), waiting, ignored, while her meal was served to someone else and no one thought to inform us. At that point, we got up and left. The front door staff were the only bright spots. They were polite and immediately got the manager. The manager assured my sister that the situation would be "handled," that we would be contacted, and that some form of recompense would be made for the experience. She was also so apologetic... But her apologies were as devoid is truth as her personality was devoid of any humanity. So her promises that she would reach out that we would be recompensed well...That never happened. No call. No follow-up. No accountability. As for the food? I can't fairly review it because we never actually received it. The small portion of appetizer I did get was nothing memorable, and the sake was honestly subpar. What I can review is the service, (if one can call it that,) and it was abysmal. Disorganized, inattentive, and completely lacking in basic professionalism and respect. Promises were made and not kept, which makes the experience even worse. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are too many places that actually value their customers' time, dignity, and experience. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.
