We hired NETR (now Sila) for a heat pump installation on our triple-decker through Mass Save. ~$107k project quoted at 2 months, took 8 months due to contractor errors. Major Issues: - Design Error: NETR's original electrical design violated Somerville setback requirements (i.e. building code). This required complete redesign, Eversource resubmission (~7 week delay), and last-minute neighbor coordination. I had to personally intervene with Eversource management to get the revised permit moving. - Failed Inspections: Electrical work failed inspection multiple times, requiring days of corrective work. NETR pressured for payment before inspections passed, citing "substantial completion." - Settlement Problems: After 8 months, I requested compensation. NETR offered $1,000 and claimed the design error delay was due to "my preference." When I provided documentation proving otherwise, they withdrew their offer to send a foreman to review the timeline, then gave a 24-hour ultimatum to accept $1,500 or face "legal escalation." We settled to avoid further hassle. Outcome: The heat pumps work well now. But the design error, failed inspections, gaslighting during settlement, and 4x timeline extension make this impossible to recommend. NETR recently merged with Sila (now majority-owned by Goldman Sachs PE as of Nov 2024). They pressured me to pay early - do not pay until inspections are closed with the city. This is your primary leverage. On a $100k project affecting three households, we expected better execution and professionalism. Strongly recommend avoiding this company. read more

Overall I would recommend this company. I gave it a four star rating because of the project manager Chip. He was frustrating to work with. He made things very unclear and had poor communication skills. He had quoted me a price that included the use of a lift and then the day of the install there was no lift used. Because of this I felt a credit was due back to me. My attempts to claim the credit with Chip were fruitless. I felt he was dishonest about conversations we had regarding the quote he had given me, and he made little attempt to follow through with me. To make a long story short, after repeated unsuccessful conversations/emails with Chip, I decided to speak with Mike, the company's owner/president. Mike is an outstanding professional who worked with me to make sure I was satisfied with the final amount I paid for the installation of the mini-split system. He listened to my concerns and was able to issue me a credit. I received a check from NETR within the next 2 days. Mike values his customers and goes above and beyond to ensure they are happy with the service/experience that NETR provides. In addition to Mike, Jeff and Steve were the crew members that came to my house for the mini-split I had installed. They were great! Both guys were professional, knowledgable and very approachable. During the installation process, they made my wife and I feel at ease with any of our questions and they patiently worked with us to have the install meet our specifications. I strongly recommend Jeff and Steve, as they are a great team! read more

In the fall, we had 7 Mitsubishi heat and air units installed in our home. First, Chip who was the consultant, was excellent in providing information, explaining the system, and checking to make sure all our questions were answered during the installation. He also provided the paper work to get rebates on the units. The installers arrived on time and were extremely careful going through the house wearing protective covers over their shoes. The first day, 4 workers arrived (Adam, Jose, Steve, and Tim) and got right to work. They came with me through the house to make sure where the units were going and answered all the questions I had. They worked very hard and all the units were in by day1. They were extremely careful with the furniture, walls, and items in each of the rooms and the hardwood floors. During the next 4 days, Adam and Jose worked diligently to get the work completed on time. Their work was impeccable. All of the tubing in the basement and outside work looks so professional. They are an unbelievable team. This was a great group of installers. They are very skilled, hard workers. They were so careful and everything is clean looking and neat inside the house and outside. They are friendly and courteous. The heat pumps and AC work terrific. We have used both. It's amazing how quickly the heat and AC provide the heat or air. I highly recommend N.E.T.R. Mr. Cappuccio has a staff that deserve an A+ rating. read more

You get what you pay for ... not the cheapest, but truly the best. We had three Sanyo mini-splits that were on their last legs when we closed on our condo last May, and decided that it was time to upgrade to new Mitsubishi units. I found N.E.T.R. based on Mitsubishi's website. These guys know mini-splits -- that's essentially all that they do and they've seen it all. I called them on a Wednesday and had a walk-through and quote in hand by the next day. Jimmy walked me through our options, and since our job was a bit more complicated (5th floor in a historic building with no elevator), he came back a few days later with one of the company's experts Adam to make sure that the job was planned correctly. Our install was about two weeks later with Brian and Jawon. Incredibly patient and professional -- they tested everything and even showed things about the old units that had caused them to wear out sooner than expected. (Someone who used to live in our unit had been running the AC with the windows open, which caused so much condensation that part of the old unit had rusted!) Overall, great experience. Everyone at NETR was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. From the time I called to inquire about installing a mini-split heating system to the day of installation was less than four weeks. We were impressed with Russell and Chip, with the thorough presentation, with NETR's experience and knowledge of the systems, and with the company's dedication to doing things in the best way possible. (We did have a plumbing company come to give us an estimate, and they couldn't hold a candle to NETR's trustworthiness and thorough knowledge of the product and installation.) The day of the installation, Jose arrived right on time and got to work. He was courteous, clean, and efficient. He drained the unit and tested the equipment to be sure that it was all in working order. At the end of the installation of he patiently demonstrated how to use it, with very clear instructions and helpful suggestions. It's only the first day, and it's working fine. We live in Cambridge, MA and got quotes from a number of mini-split heat pump installers. N.E.T.R. was the most flexible and thorough and their bid was competitive. They were willing to issue detailed quotes for several different scenarios in a clear, easy-to-understand side-by-side format. The installation lead-time was 4-5 weeks in the summer (high season, most likely) but the shortest lead-time of any we spoke with. When the time came for installation Christian and Josh were very thorough and considerate. We live in a condo and through some mis-understanding about where exactly some of the piping would go, they were flexible to work through some last-minute adjustments. Also when our condo neighbors had concerns about the parts that went through their basement, Christian and Josh were very conscientious about making sure the neighbor was satisfied with the outcome. We've now had our units for a few months through some hot and some cold season and things are working great so far. read more

From my first contact with Chip to the last goodbye from Jerry and his crew, the NETR group was a breath of fresh air in this crazy world. They really, honestly love their jobs with NETR, citing the head of the company as a big reason. (That counts a LOT when I'm looking for a company to work with.) Beyond that, though, the installation guys were machines! My husband and I were astonished at their incredible skill and speed. It took 3 days to complete--incredible. With Chip's assistance (make no mistake, this was no "sales job"), we had a split-ductless cooling and heating system put in. (Yup, green tech), to augment a very old heating system, and to cool/dehumidify in the summer. And Chip was right: It works great! NETR should be a business model for any business out there. I will also applaud the people who field the calls (for us it was Eleni and Alana), who are gracious, conscientious, and organized. The excitement of a new home was diminished a bit with the bouts of humidity this summer. A couple of quotes and N.E.T.R. came to the rescue starting with company representative, Jimmy S., who quickly sold me on the ductless cooling and heating units. I made the decision to use N.E.T.R. for the service and Jimmy S. and Adam H. arrived to review the plans with me for the installation of three units that would work best for my space. Three weeks later, Brian B. and Christian arrived to install the units. My brother had used this company five years earlier and recommended them to me. I was impressed with their knowledge, professionalism, and their commitment to making sure I was happy with the system, as well as the timely fashion in which the job was completed. We recently had to call them for service on one of the units and a tech named James M arrived at our door. While we have always valued and respected the folks at NETR, I am writing this review because of James. He is the absolute most competent and knowledgeable service tech we have ever had the pleasure of working with. James is not only an expert at what he does, but he has a friendly and professional manner. He respected our home, did not leave his work area dirty, and calmly and confidently answered any questions we had along the way. We've had work done by N.E.T.R. over the past 10 years (install, service, etc). This year we upgraded our system and worked with the firms owner to make certain our plans were practical and workable. Mike Capuccio, the owner, came to our place and reviewed our plans with us. He offered suggestions and within 3 days provided a quotation that was easily within our budget. The following week the newer system was installed by Brian B. and his assistant Jawan. They reported early and had all the needed equipment to complete the job. Hard workers, mindful of our living quarters and very pleasant. We were very pleased with their efforts and especially happy with the units we selected. NETR installed a Mitsubishi mini-split system for me last year. At the time, I arranged for a 3-year maintenance contract with them but payment, in the form of the first of 3 installments, was deferred until the first visit, which was last week. James Majors was the service technician who inspected and cleaned the system. He is extremely personable - smart and funny - and took the time to explain to me how to clean both the indoor and outdoor units myself; also, how to fine-tune the air handlers using the remotes. At the end of his visit, I asked if I could pay all 3 installments in a single sum. James called his office and they agreed. He went one step further and arranged for a deep discount on the total. Taking care not to soil my "spotless, tidy" floors/home, they put down drop cloths and began working just as the N.E.T.R. office had told me they would. Everything proceeded as planned even though I had requested a slight tweak of the original plan. Jeff and Ivan worked well individually and as a team. Their work ethic and care in performing their tasks at hand, including training, earned them a "walk on water" rating from me. Wow!!! On Monday , James M. from N.E.T.R. Inc. came to my home to service my Mitsubishi AC's Units and I was more than pleased!!! He not only cleaned the Units thoroughly, he took the time to show me the best settings to put them at for the most efficiency. It was perfect timing because I had guests coming from San Diego who arrived last night and I wanted them to be comfortable. My husband was so impressed with how our two units on the first floor cooled the entire first floor (Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Family Room and Porch!!!) on an extremely hot night!!! The NETR Inc team that came to install my equipment (Brian and Jawan) was on time, tidy, and very professional. They had to deal with some pretty challenging outdoor site issues because of our recent snow, but they didn't complain at all. They cleaned up every spot they touched, and everything was completed perfectly to spec. And when explaining the tech, they were knowledgable and enthusiastic about it. I already like this system for heating, can't wait for it to help me out in hot weather too. Great experience. Chip was my salesman and was professional and clear, and gave me a detailed estimate on the spot. Steve, Jeff, and Brian did the install in one day, and coordinated with their contracted electrician. They were friendly with each other clearly work together well and often. They draped my furniture (including my cat's perch!) and cleaned as they went. My condo is small (450 sq ft) and there were four of them in here with me and my cat all day, and it was no problem at all. I have to say, they were all really nice and took the time to explain the system's operation to me, too. And....it's cool in here now! I'm very pleased and definitely recommend them highly. read more
