Met my friend here for a birthday lunch and had a great experience. It was busy, but they seated us immediately (and have lots of outside dining, too). The wait person was friendly and gave us lots of recommendations. I got the caesar salad wrap an added onion rings, along with a raspberry/blueberry "Fruity Fresher." It was very good (although tasted a little like it started with a powdered mix). I really liked the wrap and onion rings, so kudos to the wait person who recommended them! My friend had the cobb sandwich on grilled ciabatta and there was plenty of it. She ate half of it, along with a tomato-basil soup and enjoyed it. The other half went home to her husband! We couldn't resist the many cake options they have and I got a (huge) slice of strawberry cake and she got the carrot cake. The strawberry was fresh, soft and terrific. Best strawberry cake I've had in a long time! My friend enjoyed her dense, flavorful carrot cake and would get it again. There are so many options on their menu, so I look forward to coming back and trying more. I have vegan friends, so was glad to see the vegan/vegetarian menus, too. Wha treat to come to Neuhaus Cafe for dinner. The store is like walking into a candy shop... one any child would be thrilled to be a part of to pick out their favorite candy. I ordered the Caesar salad wrap and it came with homemade chips, and it was really good! The homemade chips were seasoned just right. You know how some places over season the chips and ruin them... not here. And the sandwich hit the spot perfectly. The meal was so good, my husband and I indulged in a slice of strawberry cake - and it was heavenly! Our waiter was a perfect mix of attention and respect, allowing us to enjoy our meal without being over or under served. Great coffee and full menu- something for everyone including diet conscious. I had the grilled chicken called Greek chicken sandwich; I chose the focaccia bread which was a great choice. Would like to give more stars as food was good but service was non existent. The Philly sandwich was good the fry's great ! Waitress would give a 1 star did not bring items /condiments asked for and since never saw her again never got. Drinks went dry, it was lunch but still some staff standing around. Unfortunately, the food was really disappointing. * The mushrooms in the omelette were undercooked. * The jalapeños were pickled (not fresh), and the cheese quality was subpar. * The tortillas in the migas tasted stale. We ended up leaving most of the food untouched but were still charged for everything. Our server actually called the manager over, but instead of being understanding, the manager was defensive about the food. He did offer to replace the food but we didn't want to take that chance. Had weekday breakfast here. Coffee was good- served in individual carafe which may have kept it hot. I only ordered 2 pancakes with a side of bacon. The bacon was very crispy which I like. Pancakes were large and fluffy. Tasted good but not great. I would order again but I'm picky about pancakes and these were somehow a bit too light for my taste. I bought 5 2 piece boxes of chocolates for my Galentine's and they were perfect! Little red box and they put white ribbon around each box. My pals said they were delicious. Can't wait to go back! The outdoor seating here is fantastic, and the ambience is great. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a meal on a nice day. The food is incredible, especially the breakfast. I'd recommend coming for the omelette alone. However, be prepared for the service, which was incredibly slow. Our server seemed stretched thin, and it took a very long time to get our checks and receive our cards. Nothing fancy. An institution this is here at Preston Hallow. Dependable good service. For lunch, I love their Chicken Salad or Reuben Sandwich. At teatime, coffee and cake please. Not only a cafe, their beautiful store is filled with lovely Belgium chocolates and imported sweets. With so many closed, happy I am that this LOCAL neighborhood gem survived the pandemic. This review is a breakfast review as we went for breakfast today- I grew up going to Neuhaus as a kid and always looked forward to it- I mean what kid doesn't love a place with tons of chocolate and candy??! It was a dream!! Honestly, I hadn't been for years, partly because I don't live in town. I was excited to try it again. The pancakes are huge ! Kids loved the pancakes! I had the avocado toast- it was good. I would have preferred pickled onions on top instead of raw as I feel like that is pretty normal for avocado toast. Egg was cooked well. Next time we will try lunch !! Our kids left with of course a sweet treat ! They also have a nice outside space even with heaters which was a great setup. Definitely try out this gem! read more

I haven't been here in 4 years until a friend of mine raved about their hot chocolate. Since tonight has been rather cold, I decided to drop by for a cup of their famous hot chocolate with whipped cream and it was the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Me + 2 kids love coming to this little coffee house to enjoy an afternoon of computer stuff or board games. The ice cream sundaes are wonderful as the teas and their brownies! This place is really a mixed bag for me. There are things that I like about it and things that I am not so high on. The atmosphere at this location is very Starbucks in the way it feels. Several times while I was eating could not but think how much it felt like that. Mind you not that that is a bad thing it just is an observation. The service was good fast and friendly. Our weight person was very attentive even though she was pretty busy. There seem to be a lot of regulars coming in and out because there were several people that she knew which was very nice. The food here is probably what bothers me most about this place. It is very average at not so average prices. For example, for dinner both of us had half a sandwich and a cup of soup. I indulged in a chocolate sundae after dinner. There were no drinks ordered for we only had water. The bill came to $36.50. Now keep in mind to halfs is the equivalent of one whole sandwich and two cups of soup a scoop of ice cream and some chocolate sauce and you begin to realize this place is really expensive. read more

This little gem is a treasure. The menu is varied and sure to have something to please everyone plus whatever is served, is delicious. It was a pleasure recently to introduce an old friend to this spot and see her reaction, first to the menu options and then to the food itself. It was a simple lunch of Tortilla Soup and a Caesar Salad plus Chicken Salad sandwich but we enjoyed every bite. Their homemade pickles added a small but special touch. Neuhaus Cafe is a huge little cafe that is tucked away in the shopping complex off of Preston and Royal. There is a huge bakery and a huge candy selection in the back of the wall. This places seves everything from breakfast to sandwiches, salads, soups and other random items. The owner was friendly, and he walked around and checked on every table. Doesn't have a menu posted so I tired to just get an iced mocha with a. couple extra shots - normally a drink that costs maybe $8, I'm fine with that. My total was $20+ (also got a truffle). Meaning that my drink was around $18 just because of the extra shots. Haven't tried the truffle I hope it's good because the coffee made me want to throw up. Don't go. Starbucks is across the street. Today went to Neuhaus Cafe for lunch. I have visited at least a handful of times. When my grandpa was alive he loved to go here. I have had breakfast there once it was delicious and have soups, salads and sandwiches there. There potatoe chips and pickles are yummy! Prices are very good! Staff is always curtious and attentive. Owner is never appreciative nor friendly to customers and repeat customers that give him business. He snubs us and others all the time and has not once greeted us when he used to see us all the time. Food is extremely bland and his candy is way overpriced. We do not recommend this place and have since taken all of our business. We are fortunate to live in a Dallas neighborhood that has lots of excellent restaurants to choose from. Many are outstanding and very appreciate of us giving our business to them. This a bit of a unique cafe. In a nice way. First, since it's a cafe, let's start with the cafe. Tried their cappuccino and it was very good and well presented. For the food. Their menu is much larger than a typical cafe. Actually it has a selection you expect at a restautent. I attached pictures of several pages of their menu. Now to the very interesting part. They have one of the largest selection of chocolates and sweets compared to just about any other place in Dallas. Very well presented and excellent if you want to pick up a present package for someone. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is excellent. Parking is very convenient. I think these cafes are an excellent alternative to the large chains that we run into everywhere. read more

Went for Saturday lunch at about 2:00 pm. Place was packed. Waitstaff appeared overwhelmed but they were hustling as hard as they could be. That said, service was spotty and food was slow to arrive. Veggie panini was less than spectacular. Soggy, greasy, and hard to hold together. Veggies were grossly over cooked. Cobb salad with chicken was much better than the sandwich. It was good. My only complaint was a personal one related to the bleu cheese. Too much of it. And crumbled so finely it was impossible to fish out. So if you love, love, love , bleu cheese you'll be happy. Otherwise would give some instructions about how you want it applied. Ambience...not much here. Sitting on sidewalk of a strip mall is hardly Lux but was comfortable and not overly noisy. Only distraction was a neighboring table's marginally behaved dog. Cute but distracting even for this dog person. Giving this visit a 3 star. Would be two star had everyone not been trying as hard as they could, but feel circumstances beyond their control probably affected both service and the food. Could give another star if sandwich had been better. Prices on the high side even given present monetary circumstances. read more

This place looks really cute, and it appeared very promising. Unfortunately, it did not live up to that promise. I stopped in for a slice of cake. Since it was my first time, I asked the girl working there what kind of cake she'd recommend. The conversation went something like this: Me: Is there a particular cake you guys make that's widely considered to be better than the others? Her: All of them. Me: I mean, is there one that people usually like best? Her: What do you like? Do you like chocolate? Do you like carrot? If you like chocolate, you should get the chocolate cake, but if you like carrot, you should get the carrot cake. Me: See, I like all kinds of cake. I'm trying to figure out if there's one that you guys make better than the others, because I've never been here before. Her: We're famous for all of them. They're all really good. Me: So you're saying they're all equally good? Her: Yes. Me: Do you have a favorite? Her: All of them. This is one of my pet peeves. Surely this girl does not like all of these cakes equally. Was she afraid of offending the less delicious cakes? Without any help from the staff, I decided to try a slice of carrot cake. It was horribly oily and greasy, and the icing was disgustingly sweet. Cream cheese icing is usually the best part of carrot cake to me, but I found myself scraping this off, because it was so terrible.
