I went to this diner twice in one week- the first time it was for breakfast, second time I had dinner. Both experiences were basically the same... The service here is SUPER SLOW! I had to look for the waitress several times during both visits which was annoying. I don't understand why because they appeared to be OVER staffed! I saw so many employees just standing around staring into space. It was extremely bizarre... This diner is actually pretty nice. They have a nice bar area as soon as you walk in and a vast display of sweet treats right next to it. We were greeted promptly during both visits and didn't have to wait. I went during peak hours both times, and each time the diner was pretty much empty. During my second visit, I asked for a larger booth for my party of four, and the hostess told me the booth I wanted was for a party of five only. Reminder- THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY!!! The food: Meh- Typical diner food but I was completely underwhelmed by most of it. And for the price I paid, I was very disappointed. Found this spot through our neighbors. Good food, great portions. The last time we went, the service wasn't as good as usual. Had to wait 40 min for our food, and 1 persons food didn't arrive at the same time. Everyone else was done eating when the last plate arrived. They didn't refill our drinks once while we were there. While the Nevada Diner has an awesome sign, the same thing can't be said about it's food. I tend to stay away from writing bad reviews (mostly because I stay away from bad food places) but sometime the whole experience is just so bad that I feel compelled to make a note of it. Tonight dinner at Nevada was such an occasion. Mind you I have eaten there in the past and was not expecting haut cuisine but I did expect half decent food, service, and ambiance. I am sad to report I got non of that. The service was close to non-existent (I had to blame waiters since sometimes it's not their fault), the food atrocious (I ordered Jambalaya, what I got was undercooked rice with half raw vegetable, and meatballs sized mystery meat masquerading as sausage and some shrimp on top.) You would think that ambiance is one thing a diner can't screw up but I was sitting in a wind-tunnel every time the side door was opened, and need to grab things before they flew away. If your idea of eating out consist of half microwaved TV dinners, soups from a can, and hunting for your waiter while hurricane grade winds sweep thing of your table I highly recommend that you visit the Nevada Diner soon. I have been going for years and I can't remember a single time I was disappointed or that my order was incorrect.. Horrible, horrible, horrible. So my bf took me here late cheistmas eve. I was excited to try this place due to the extensive menu and desserts. Sadly, I was dissaponted. First of all, our server was horrible and inattentive. He seemed new. I ordered the bananas foster frwnch toast, with home fries and eggs. My bf ordered chicken strips with sweet potato fries. The waiter came back at lease 3 times to ask me what i ordered or specifics about my order I already told him. It took a food 20 min for the food to arrive. When it did, i was horrified. The french toast had a banana cream saice that looked like pure vomit. It was drowned im sauce, soggy, and the bananas were brown. I tried to eat it, but the saice nor french toast had any flavor whatsoever. My "home fries" came out as hash browns and I sent those back. I did research on yelp prior to coming here but i was decived. I would say the best prt of my meal was the eggs because they tased freah. My bf didnt like his chicken strips either. I was still hungry so i ordered the chicken and rice soup. It was really good. The waiter was so innatentive, we had to ask other waiters to flag down our waiter for refills, the check, or any other simple thing we needed. So it was almost christmas and i wanted to go home. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My parents and I went for dinner and had the best food. I got the sante fe taco salad. I am not a salad girl, I got a salad because I was trying to be healthy and it was an amazing salad. The portion was huge and the plating was beautiful. Definitely recommend. My dad got the mac and cheese and pulled pork. I tried a little bit and it tasted so good. The pulled pork is a little sweet and the mac and cheese is honestly something that could be made at home however the combination was so good. My mom got a sandwich and she loved it. I have been going to this restaurant for about 10 years. Today, I was given a check for a service fee for using a credit card for payment. I was told it is 3% of total of bill. Along with a tip of 15% your total expenses would be $10 on a $45 check for food without taxes. This is too high of a cost. I like Nevada Diner but this service fee needs to be disposed. Its going to make the servers receive less tips in the long run. On a whole their portion size is huge and the service is accommodating. read more

I have dined at the Nevada for several years, frequenting the establishment for breakfast (generally on weekends), lunch, and dinner (usually on weeknights). While several of their classic menu items are excellent (Chicken Taverna, Chicken Potpie, Crab Cakes) and the standard fare (burgers, omelettes, french toast) also quite good, service is often lacking. Lately they seem to have hired a disproportionate number of young servers who are patently unfriendly and appear to be less than happy in their work and very uninterested in their customers. I believe anemic managment is a significant contributor to the decline in service, as shift managers idly stand around ignoring the staff and customers (and often engage in conversation and even argue with each other). Additionally, while there are several televisions in the bar area and front dining room, they always appear to be tuned to soccer games and foreign language news broadcasts (apparently to appease the staff and owners). I'd suggest that the onsite televisions should be tuned to various English language news stations (CNN, Fox News, MSNBC) and U.S. sporting events (MLB, NFL, etc.). read more

Food: the food here has not disappointed me yet, however breakfast is their specialty! French Toast Sticks (5/5)- these were the most delicious french toast sticks I've ever tasted. It reminded me of my childhood, only better. Never go Burger king again. These French toast sticks were just the right amount of crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They're sweet enough to ditch the syrup too, perfect. Athenian Omelette (4/5)- my guess is that this is their version of the greek omelette. Pretty tasty but missing something, maybe Olives. Nevertheless, the eggs and additives were cooked well and very tasty, the feta cheese tasted fresh as well. It comes with toast and home fries. The home fries were a bit soggy for my taste but I ate them the next day for breakfast lol. Body Builder omelette (5/5)- this was a DELICIOUS omelette, almost like the Athenian but it had bits of turkey in it. This is what made the omelette, provides that perfect somewhat salty meat flavor that brings out this dish. I will be getting this again. Gluten free pancakes (4/5) - my friend was looking for a healthy option and tried this. They are a tad dry, however, it is gluten free. With syrup it is definitely a tasty treat. I would not recommend unless you are familiar with gluten free items already Caramelo (4/5) - if you know some Spanish you know this means CANDY, and yes it is sweet like candy. This is one of their specialty coffees with caramel, steamed milk, and whipped cream. It is very good! However a bit sweet for my taste. If you're into that great, if you don't like sweet coffees I'd get a more plain menu option Atmosphere - very casual ambiance with low playing music. They have a bar! Good for a date but not a first date haha. You can definitely bring your kids and/or grandmother here! Service - waiter was fast and was very nice. Tried out Nevada on a Saturday night, got pretty busy past 10pm. Service was decent, but food was just average. My fish and chips were crispy, but needed some seasoning. Lasagna was decent, but maybe wouldn't order again. They spilled coffee on me and ruined a shirt, was not comped anything. And the food was lukewarm at best and there wasn't potatoes like listed...Oh and thr soup came in a Styrofoam cup. Great diner, my dinner time spot, and occasional great breakfast. This is the best Diner in Bloomfield, hands down. Any time day or night, you can get a tasty, healthy meal here. Salads are great, as is the Greek food, the same owners run the Stamna Greek Taverna, and the Chicken Taverna and Lemon Potatoes are the same recipe. Chicken Souvlaki is great, but I wish they'd give you real Gyro, not the formed patties, especially if you guys are Greek. Ok. So. Updated menu and look. Unfortunalty it seems like the facelift as been just on the surface. I stopped in to grab a smoothie, which I was SO looking forward to and really wanted to like. I opted for the cheapest (8$...you can get better deals at most juice bars in Montclair) the frozen Banana and Date with almond milk. The smoothie wasn't 'smoothied' enough and the pieces of date were so large I barely made it through 3/4 of the smoothie, since the smoothie couldn't actually be sipped through a straw. In my personal opinion, unsweetened almond milk would be much better than the sweetened one since the banana and dates already give a really strong sweet flavor. Anyway...enough negativity for one review. They have check in coupons for a free jello or ice cream so there's always that! read more

My husband wanted Nevada Diner (once again) to get this Turkey bacon cheddar on pita (That he's been getting for years ) The turkey was a lower quality meat that they normally would serve . Usually it's actually oven roasted Turkey slices. This was very poor quality deli sliced meat (I almost wanna say from a Oscar Meyer pack) Needless to say he sent it back, The waiter was very understanding and did say they changed meat since the last time we were here. which was very disappointing.. I went to the diner for brunch this weekend. The menu looked delicious. I was immediately torn between several options. I ultimately chose the French Toast stuffed with bananas and peanut butter sauce. When our breakfast came, I was a little disappointed the French toast was not stuffed but rather topped with the bananas and PB. Nonetheless, the dish tasted delicious! I've been looking forward to going to the Nevada Diner for a while. I went to the Stateline Diner a few years ago, which has remained in my top 10 favorite diners. I arrived to the Nevada Diner around dinner time and it wasn't too crowded. Atmosphere: The Nevada Diner is very clean, modern, and bright. I'm not 100% why it was named the "Nevada Diner", as it doesn't have a big Nevada theme. Never the less, the exterior and interior are clean. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh each time. The waitress refilled my beverage multiple times, and the mug was large. One of my favorite diner coffees so far. Food: The menu at the Nevada Diner is large and they have everything you want in a diner. They also have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, and entire juice bar. I don't know if I've seen a juice bar at a diner before. For an appetizer, I ordered the mezze platter. It came with two types of hummus, pita, olives, and dolmades. It was one of the best Mediterranean platters and I took some home because it was so filling. I decided to order the prime rib off their specials menu. It came with a salad, two vegetables, and dessert. The prime rib was one of the best prime ribs I've had at a restaurant. It was tender and juicy without being drenched in sauce. Both my broccoli and asparagus were cooked well too. Dessert: I wasn't hungry for dessert but I can't turn down free bread pudding. I liked the bread pudding but I was hoping it would be more bread like. In all I have no complaints. Service: Our waitress was both friendly and funny and it's hard to beat that. I truly disgusted. I went out with my friends after the movies to Nevada Diner. We ordered milkshakes and they came with a slice of cheesecake. We were brought our food and drinks and I found a bug in my food. The worst part of all of this is that the manager proceeded to ignore us after making a complaint. He said he would comp the cheesecake but we said we weren't comfortable getting another slice. So annoying and a great way to ruin the night. Not to mention literally being ignored for about 20 minutes. Multiple waiters walked by, even our own and didn't acknowledge us to give us the check. This is a review for the Vegan Panini only. I went on a Monday night after noticing new healthy choices on the menu including brown rice bowls and Dr. Praeggers burgers. The panini was a B- . It needed more work. It was more of a sandwich with grill marks than a panini. See photo. It needed to be cooked longer and perhaps with guac instead of avocado to help bind the ingredients the way cheese normally does But all of these imperfections could be fixed with more instructions to the kitchen. I visited the Nevada Diner in Bloomfield for dinner. I felt like ordering breakfast. I ordered the Nevada pancakes which came with three pancakes, 2 eggs and a choice of sausage,taylor ham or bacon which I cannot eat due to my medical issues. When I asked the server if I can subsitute the meat for hashbrowns she replied that that wasn't allowed. So i was either forced to not get the meat in which I would not get any discount and order an order of hashbrowns which would be an extra charge. Obviously i ordered the bacon because I was being charged for it anyway and a side of hashbrowns. When the food arrived the bacon was placed on the top of my scrambled eggs so my eggs now tasted like bacon that I can't eat. After finishing and leaving the bacon I recieved the bill that had the regular price for the meal and an additional credit card fee if I paid by card. It's their choice to accept credit/debit card why should I have to pay for that? The moral of the story is I will not be returning to the Nevada Diner. The food was descent not spectacular though and a bit pricey. A simple hashbrown subsitution which cost less on the menu than the bacon cost them a customer good business choice. read more

Nevada Diner's service is always hit or miss. We figured we would skip that toss up by ordering take out. The once yummy penne vodka (even worth the lackluster service) is now bland and sad.
