Pretty much everyone in the city has been here after a late night at the bars because (1) they're open til 3 am on weekends and (2) they have really good greasy food. I'd say their most popular item on the menu is the pizza which is also cheap if you just get the plain cheese. Once you start getting toppings it can get a little pricey per slice. You also can't go wrong with the fried mushrooms...or fried zucchini...or onion rings...did I mention everything is fried? "Yay! I'm a fan" sums up my feelings exactly. My brother-in-law works in Baltimore, and since he's had a tough couple of weeks, I decided to surprise him with lunch delivered to his office. I used Yelp to search for "$" places in the 21201 zip that delivered, and "Never On Sunday" came up first. Their website was clean and informative, so I wrote down a couple of menu options and then called during one evening. "Josh" was helpful and accommodating; he recommended the spinach pie (their specialty) over a veggie wrap (which is not unique to NOS). Also, when I explained that I was calling from California and wanted lunch delivered by 11:30 AM the following day, he said that although NOS opened at 11 AM, he could put my order in a few minutes early and get the kitchen crew started, so the food would be certainly delivered in time. I ordered the spinach pie, a small Greek salad (with $1 extra for a hardboiled egg), and baklava. Total with tax and tip came to $23. I would not do this for my brother-in-law every day ($20 lunches have that "special occasion" aura), but considering that: - the food was tasty (per report) - the delivery was on time - the service was great - the convenience was huge I definitely got my money's worth, and was able to do a nice thing for the BIL, and also earned mad points with the husband and with the mother-in-law :-) Plus, you know, my BIL is a great guy and I loved being able to surprise him with something nice. Delivery that never delivers. Waited 2 hours for delivery, called after 1 1/2 hours and they said it was coming but after 30 more minutes it never showed up so they just said they canceled the order. Terrible service, can't even say if the foods any good but definitely won't try again since the owners clearly don't care. read more

My default diner by location. Open until 3 AM on weekends, I've stumbled to Never On Sunday with friends after going out. It's not the classic diner where a server takes your order at the table; you have to order and get the food at the counter. While they have a selection of food even some Mediterranean choices, people primarily get pizza there (as it is the cheapest, fastest, and greasiest option after a long night of drinkage). In diner standards, the food there is fine. It'll definitely satisfy your urge for greasy comfort food. They close at 3 AM, and they mean it! At 1:15AM when just about every restaurant in the area is closed, Never On Sunday pulls through. Finding parking at this time was easy, luckily. I stepped inside and approached the counter. Groups of people were loud but they were seated. And then there were those who were standing by the counter either waiting to order or waiting for their food. I felt that everything ran very smoothly and I didn't have to worry about anyone hurling on the floor next to me. I ordered the Cheesesteak and the Greek Fries, and then went to the bathroom. The bathroom looked clean. I was expecting to see paper towels and toilet paper strewn all over the floor and vomit on the seat. But no, it was clean I washed my hands, and used a paper towel to turn the doorknob and proceeded to wait another 20 seconds for my food. My conclusion on the food: the cheesesteak was very very tasty. Unfortunately, there was not too much meat, but the hots and fried onions I got with it complemented it very well. As for the greek fries, they were a bit too zesty for me. I did save them for breakfast this morning, and they are delicious with siracha. read more

Your opinion of this place will depend entirely on what time of day and what your state of mind is when you order. If you're ordering Never on Sunday to eat late night, while or after you're drinking, then you'll love it. You won't mind the fact that the people who work their are kind of apathetic and not very concerned with offering friendly service, and you won't mind that you're paying slightly higher prices than you should based on the quality of the food. If you're ordering at any other time of the day or state of mind, you probably will mind these things. For me, the bottom line is that I order food from this place when it's late and there aren't many other options at the time, plus the fact that it's right around the corner from my apartment. Sometimes you're working really late ... sometimes you just don't want to cook and didn't realize that until everything is closed. I used to live two blocks from Never on Sunday, and it was a favorite of mine while living in the city. The menu is extensive, and they are open late night, making it a favorite for those bar hoping. My favorite item on the menu was their cheesesteak and fries (I like simple food). Late at night, when drunk and walking home, I'd stop and get a slice or two of their greasy, yet oh-so-delicious pizza. You can eat-in or carryout. When eating in, you'll find that their customers are an eclectic bunch and span across all socio-economic groups, which adds to the charm. If you are a more adventurous eater, like many I have taken there, you may want to try some of the other dishes, as my friends have been happy with everything they've ordered. I go here alot at work. When I'm working evenings probably about 3 to 4 times a week. The guys that run the place are nice and there is a place to sit down. There are even public restrooms,and they just recently put a toilet seat in the mens bathroom! Which I thought was an ingenious idea for creeps not to come in smell the place up. I've tried alot of things on the menu from the pizza to the souvlaki on pita and I can say that I have enjoyed it all. It may not be the healthiest food, but it least it tastes good. Sometimes I have this urge to bump shoulders with an assortment of late night clubgoers, cops, insomniac music students, and the random raving lunatic. This usually coincides with an urge to get one of the best cheesesteaks you can get in Baltimore. Never on Sunday, oh how I'm glad you exist. A couple of years ago this place was renovated after a fire that seemed to burned away the dinginess of its former life. I had remember going there after some lame college party (where I was trying to explain the concept of "phantom limbs" to a rather impressionable young lady) and found the food horrible, giving me an acute case of food poisoning. Not anymore, with their new decor came a new dedication in achieving that level of taste and greasiness that deserves the title of a late-night-joint. I usually get their cheesesteak: a crispy yet soft sub roll tightly packed with the usual suspects, professionally executed so it will not fall apart in a mess when you unwrap the paper. Other items on the menu that are good include their gyros, their club sandwiches, and their archetypal thin slices. I'm not 100% sold on their 'greek' fare, but who cares when its 2:30am? read more

Decent delivery food by Baltimore standards, but it's often "hit-or-miss". For instance, their chicken parm and pasta dish is usually either perfectly cooked, or burned and dry. Their pizza is actually pretty good for Baltimore pizza, but I much prefer the Harbor East Deli and Pizzeria (which also happens to be open on Sunday). Let me just say that there wasn't anything terrible about our experience but there wasn't anything noteworthy either. The atmosphere...eh, at least it was clean! The food- good, but I've had better mid-range (cost wise) Greek food at PLENTY of other places. There was literally only 2 other people in the restaurant and it still took a good 15 minutes to get our food, which, for counter service is a little lengthy in my opinion. This is one of my favorite greasy spoons in town. They've got a great menu with lots of options and do most -- if not all of them -- well. Their delivery is reliable and generally there faster they they say it's going to be (they usually say 40 minutes -- I find it's usually about 20-30). I branched out of my comfort zone with them recently and ordered a Ruben. Now, I come from a land of great Jewish deli's so my standards are high. Taste-wise, that sandwich was on par with some of the best I've had. But there just wasn't enough meat. If your gonna call it a Ruben the meat portion should be as big as your fist. Otherwise it's a snack -- not a meal. Also, they've got the best gravy in town -- so if you're a poutine fanatic like I am -- and the "disco fries" at your local eatery aren't cutting for you -- order their waffles fries with cheese and gravy. The craving will be sated. But you may have to Gravy Fries Anonymous, and accept the divine Spaghetti Monster as your savior and light -- to kick the habit. Just letting you know now. read more

As others have said, the service is surly and unapproachable. I was genuinely scared that they would mess with my food if I didn't tip them, even though we were doing take-out. Giving the gyro I just pounded 5 stars. Piping hot pita, stacked with gyro meat and absolutely loaded with tomatoes. One of my go-to places for subs, wraps and fries. Even though I no longer live in Mount Vernon, I'd rather drive to Never on Sunday than visit most of the sub places in the Roland Park/Hampden area. Some of the better things on the menu (in my opinion) include the Mount Vernon Club Wrap, Chicken Parm Sub, Waffle Fries, Gyros and the Smokey Mountain Chicken Wrap.
