I called to complain and was only offered replacement wings and was given almost an OH WELL. I was told by the manager that "it happens, we don't look at or clean the wings" "how are we supposed to see that when we drop 20-30 wings at a time". THATS NASTY! Word of mouth is everything, You can't get away with bad business when the consumer did no wrong and you have my money. As its name implies, Never On Sunday is open 6 days a week and closes on you know when. I was craving gyros one day and the closest place was probably Never On Sunday. I took a stroll and walked in. It's a relatively small place, but with a quick turnaround. I haven't had the pizza yet, but the gyros are pretty good. A tad bit smaller than I had expected, but definitely hits the spot when you crave them. The tzatziki sauce is also pretty good. The fries are also served in smaller portions. The fried zucchini was an interesting order. But the best part is that they offer my favorite grape soda from Boylan. That made it a complete meal. Overall, Never On Sunday offers a relatively inexpensive spot to grab a quick bite. I'd probably come back when the craving arises. read more

Never On Sunday used to be my spot. I'd order from here about 4 times a week while living in Mount Vernon. I stopped in recently after getting my hair cut and it seemed like my placing an order was a bother to the female cashier whose boyfriend was hanging around the counter. So I decided to stop here looking for something good to eat that was close to home and wouldn't take too long. I should have stuck with what I knew which were the wings and pizza. I definitely recommend the wings and pizza. Even though I read the reviews and saw the pictures I wanted to give them the benefit the doubt especially since a lot of the reviews were 5 yrs ago. But I got the chicken bacon wrap it was ok not bad not good but ok. The chicken was a lil dry and could have used a lil lore seasoning. It just felt like it was missing something not sure what but something was off. The pickle was nasty couldn't eat it which was very disappointing because I love love pickles. Would I get it again umm no wouldn't be my 1st choice I'll probably stick with my wings and pizza from now on. The customer service was good though everyone is always friendly and it's never a long wait time. The last couple of times the pizza has been good. I previously ordered wings and they were great, so I ordered wings in store. Their menu, displayed boldly above the counter, clearly says one price, so I ordered. When I looked my receipt, the guy charged me $5 more. $26 for 20 wings is A LOT. Not sure if they sold this place or what but I went to this place today around midnight. The food certainly has changed. Used to get chips with the subs/sandwiches and now it's an up charge for fries (as it was) or nothing. Also they changed the fish on the fish subs to supposed flounder that has no flavor at all. The chicken parm sub was overcooked chicken which wasn't good as well. Certainly no need to waste anymore money here and at the price paid per quality, McDonalds is by far the better choice for a late night snack/meal. read more

We had a craving for chicken fingers and were told to visit Never On Sunday. They delivered a basket of crispy tender chicken fingers and fries that was spot on! The staff was friendly and patient in going over other great menu items that nearly made us go in a different direction. I will never order from this place again. I've been here 3 times and twice my order has been wrong. The first time, they put mayo on my sandwich when it wasn't listed on the menu. We ordered food from here during our stay for the American Masters Cheerleading Competition in Baltimore. I will start off by saying the Service was phenomenal. They where very caring and helpful I enjoyed that. It was clearly they wanted to provide the best service they could provide. The food was awesome as well. I ate the shrimp cheesesteak and it was marvelous. It didn't taste like the steak came from a Steak Em' package. It was fresh. The calamari was delicious as well. My wife had a gyro and my goodness it was huge and it was well prepared my wife said she loved how they cut their meat for the gyro. One thing I would say is ask for light onions because they will give you onions and plenty of them. Haha. I think Never On Sunday is the type of place you go to when you absolutely have no idea what you want to eat and you need something quick and easy. They have a wide variety of food for a really low price. 8/10 times the food will be good but you run the chance of getting okay food. The odds are usually in your favor. Unbelievable they don't honor their word...smh will update my review. have been to Never on a Sunday three times. Its a 10-15 minute walk from my job. The first time I was blown away with how awesome their cheese fish sub is fresh and huge. A fast pace lunch spot some what in and out. The second time I ordered my cheese fish sub was last Friday and they for got to put the cheese. I called to inform them and they said on my next visit they would give either a 10% discount or no cost for the cheese. Well, I bought my co-worker with me on my third visit was so bad I will never return. While ordering my cheese fish sub with everything plus hots I mentioned the phone call and the cashier tells me the total...wait for it... the total was the same price as last week. So i tell him I know the price and the total he is telling me is not discounted. He gives another total that was a little cheaper. They have a three man show, two take orders while the third hand people their orders. It was a little shocking to me when the same man that took my order was now handing my cheese fish sub. I look to see if there was cheese...yes there was a cheese smear on the wrapper I did not totally open up the sub. On my way back to my job it starts to drizzle great for me with no umbrella. Oh, I have to take in a breath right now...I grab my drink and chips to sit down with my cheese fish sub that I thought had everything plus hots to ONLY be looking at a roll, fish and cheese. Where is the lettuce, tomato, onions and hots? We are in disbelief...she calls back, she is placed on hold, then finally someone answers and while she is trying to rely what has happen, she is cut off with the person saying "you the one with the cheese problem". My co-worker had to compose herself "yes, we had a cheese issue earlier" so who ever she is speaking to states the have to check the ticket and we need to come back to the store. Again this is not a hop, skip or jump to this place. We are both hungry and tired but we managed to walk back. The employee said "i saw you look at that sub before you left the first time" I said yes looking for the cheese it was on the wrapper so I didn't open it all the way. We are given the standard apology of them being busy with a lunch rush....I'm not buying it...one the cashier, who took our order had a smirk on his face. The key to a great gyro rests in what I refer to as "the ratio." "The ratio" relates to the harmony between the tzatiki sauce, feta cheese, veggies, meat, and bread. If you have too much feta the gyro will be salty, if you have too much veggies then the gyro will become a salad, if you have too much meat the gyro will lose its balance. Of course it helps that each of the components are of the best quality, but it's all in the details of the ratio. My favorite gyro is from Never on Sunday. The fluffy pita is covered with standard gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, onions and seasoned, diced tomatoes. The ratio is perfect. With each bite you get the perfect ratio of ingredient, neither salty nor bland. The first time I had it, I was a bit drunk so I went back to confirm its glory. These gyros are the PERFECT meal, forever and always, no matter what level of alcohol might be coursing through your veins. The staff is funny, sharp, and patient with the 2am crowd on a Saturday. They have many many options, from pizza to subs, but I cannot emphasize enough how tasty the gyros are. The chicken gyro is cooked to perfection and dripping with savory juices. There's a good balance of tomatoes, feta, and onions. The food is alright for a late night, but they charge customers for water, including those that purchase their food. Utterly ridiculous. The marginal cost on that water is nearly nonexistent, and there certainly has to be some violation of a government code with this. Expect a line after 1:30 a.m. because it's one of the rare places open late in downtown Baltimore. Food is reasonably good (the grilled chicken gyro I had was surprisingly tasty..actual lemon juice and herbs on my grilled chicken chunks..flavorful tzatziki. B+. The pizza left something to be desired if you're looking to do anything other than sop up the bouillabaisse of colored spirits in your stomach. Low quality cheese and a poorly made crust earned the pizza a C) Would classify this place as very affordable on the ever crucial late night protein/carb/$ matrix. Highly recommend. Assuming that the menu hasn't changed much since I last lived in Mt. Vernon (2008 ish), this place never fails to satisfy, ESPECIALLY during its late hours (i think thursday through saturday, they're open till 3:30 a.m.). Of course, you can't assume that this place is an authentic Greek food place, but I've never felt that that was an issue, because it is all about piping hot greasy awesomeness with some inspired Greek fare. Get the tzatziki with extra pita: you will need it to combat the ginormously creamy pile of garlicky minty dip. Second-To-Sex is the best hangover dessert, or really, just a great concoction of graham cracker crumbs, cool whip, chocolate pudding, and probably a few other ingredients I'm forgetting. I think though, that of the few places you can order fries and sides from late night in Baltimore, that Never On Sunday has the best selection. My dream order is: waffle fries, western fries, onion rings (their onion rings are sure to give you heartburn, but they are SO worth it), tzatziki, second-to-sex, and lest we forget, the BAKLAVA. you can't go wrong there. I'm giving Never on Sunday 3 stars solely based on their pizza. Coming from the Philadelphia suburbs, I'm yet to find pizza in Baltimore that comes close to anything from back home. While Homeslyce and Pub Dog provide phenomenal "specialty" pizzas, I'm yet to find a decent traditional cheese pizza in the area. My boyfriend loves this pizza, but I find it lacking. The pizza sauce is slightly sweet, which I don't mind. The crust is rather bland. I believe they throw some different cheeses on top which gives it a more pungent smell; perhaps it's feta? Also, the pizza is huge-- 18". For some reason, every time I get this pizza, I wish it came with a vat of ranch on the side. With this said, Never on Sunday is the place to go for late night in Mount Vernon and I am looking forward to trying their gyro! read more

During my 15 days in Maryland this spring I must have eaten there 20 times (and i couldn't even get in on Sunday --- i tried). The prices at this place will fit any college budget and the slices and sandwiches are huge and greasy. This place has a large menu and everything that I've tried has been really good. But keep in mind it is diner/dive food, don't expect anything fancy here. Of course this place is off the hook when you are tipsy and got to place to go, but I often dine here for dinner. Never on Sunday is a even better stop if you are out drinking anywhere in the area on any night of the week except.. you guessed it Sunday! I frequent here more than I check in typically on Friday and Saturday nights. If you get here before 1:50AM you won't wait long for your food, if you come after 2:00AM it will be a party and expect to wait 10-20 minutes. The folks who work here are reasonably friendly, however the same guy I order from at 2AM doesn't always seem as friendly at 2PM... which is suppose is typical for a pizza joint on the east coast. Probably the cleanest, most aesthetically pleasing carry-out place I've ever been to. Definitely great for a greasy food fix or a post 'night of partying in the city' hangover cure. They carry your usual suspects: chicken wings, French fries, pizza, subs, gyros; you name it. I opted for the Cheesesteak Sub which was pretty tasty. I completed my order with a side of fries and a bottled beverage offered from their fridge. My total came to $12.88, which wasn't bad considering the portions given (the subs are HUGE). Delivery that never delivers. Waited 2 hours for delivery, called after 1 1/2 hours and they said it was coming but after 30 more minutes it never showed up so they just said they canceled the order.
