I was unsure about trying this place after seeing some of the reviews but I had a craving for some buffet style food. It was not the best buffet I have been to but it also was the not worst. The lunch price is pretty good for what they have to offer. They have a number of chicken dishes available for lunch. I forget which one it was but it was really good. I actually got several servings because I was really impressed with it. Like most buffets, some items are hit or miss but everything I tried ranged from decent to actually pretty good. i used to like coming here, they were very friendly however i got a to go plate here and found this chicken looking thing in my food, i went back to get a refund since i was not going to eat this egg drop soup with a chicken looking thing in it and they refused to give me a refund, they put the manager on the phone and he was completely disrespectful and using profanity. Ok... first the website states a price that is inexpensive. But when your bill comes it's almost 19$. Then they added a 12percent service fee. On top of a service fee, they add a fee to use your debit card. There is also a sign once you start getting food that they will charge you 8.99 a pound for wasted food. This restaurant is one of the best buffets i've been to since quarantine. they have a variety of chicken, shrimp, noodles, and shells filled with crab. they even have egg drop soup, and wonton soup ! and even more importantly the food was hot (my friend said it was burning her mouth lol) and flavorful! there's a sushi bar with a variety of sushi too. Unfortunately for me and my wife we had an awful experience. Our first time ever going here because my mom was having extreme cravings for buffet food. After entering they made us pay more than it said on the menu for pricing and the whole time we felt like we were being rushed out the door. We had only eaten one plate before they sent us the bill. The food was rubbery and cold. I was extremely disappointed with the food and had stomach pain for an hour after eating here. My wife nearly threw up. When you first walk in the place looks rundown I won't complain about the ambiance of the restaurant because location and decor does not define a restaurant but rather its food and I was not satisfied. " A Huge amount of Choices " My wife and I went to the New Century Buffet in El Cajon, and had a good meal. We were very surprised by the huge amount of food choices they give you. As you walk around the different food choices just go on and on. A lot of the food had some very good flavors. Our favorite was the Orange Chicken sauce. It was very good. And the Sesame Balls were really good. And there Sushi selection and taste was also very good. I also had the cream cheese wontons which were also good. I had eaten prior and couldn't eat anymore. My stomach was full of drinks. Tried to stay hydrated more in this heat. For dessert, I had the custard which was light and good. The peaches hit the spot for fruit. They had strawberries, bananas, grapes and other fruit. They even had a chocolate fountain. Looked good but my daughter said it was good. I also enjoyed the fruit salad which remained cold like it's supposed to. I actually liked the service here because the waiter watched our drinks and refilled them right away. This place is so worth going to if you have a big family or if you have a big group. Came back recently for dinner and I had another good dining experience. One of the standouts was the New York Strip Steak. Good flavor and very tender. The soup selection was also very good. I love crayfish, and they served some here. I also like the Chinese pork ribs. Nice sized dining area. They also have plenty of parking. The lady working the register was super nice. She also came buy a few times and asked us if all was good. Yes indeed it was very good. High foot traffic so not always as clean as it could be.
