I'm sorry but the current rating for this place is a half to full star too low. Sure the Chinese is "Americanized" and they probably use too much sugar in their sauces.... But isn't that why you had the craving in the first place? All in all, fantastic takeout and delivery food; exactly what I look for in a neighborhood Chinese place. This is the best Chinese food place in Denver! I eat there about once a week, and I have never been disappointed. My measure or awesome Chinese is the dumplings. We live literally 3 blocks from the place and we never walked in the restaurant before. Why? Because it's right next to a 7/11 and looks a bit shady from the outside. But weren't we wrong? I am so glad I trusted the fellow yelpers' reviews and ordered takeouts from them. The food was ready within 10-15 minutes and was still hot when I put it in my mouth. I ordered a shrimp chow mein. There were some good sized shrimps and several different kinds of fresh vegetables. My only complaint would be the sauce had too much corn starch. It's not greasy, or salty, or anything your typical American-Chinese takeout places serve. It's fresh and has an appropriate amount of salt in it. I also really like the flavor of their dumplings. The skin is a little thick but the filling was good. Since it's so close by, I am definitely gonna order again whenever I crave for American-Chinese food. read more

There I was, Sunday evening after a complete and total bender, shaking alone on my bathroom floor with crippling anxiety. My roommate is a human garbage disposal (but somehow still looks great) and had suggested we get Chinese. I was suspect at first but then conceded that I might as well shovel schezwan chicken down my throat to continue wallowing in my own self-loathing. After a $10 serving that could have saved dozens of lives in Stalin's Soviet Russia, I went into a brief but incredibly euphoric food coma. This lasted all of 8 minutes, then I started to see my innards palpitate through my skin due to how shocked they were by the volume of schezwan. Suddenly, I had to sprint to my toilet. I need not explain the complexity of my stool that baffled my GI doctor during my appointment days later but what I do need to explain is the utter relief the schezwan provided. I did not think about work, or my uncertain personal life, or Mike Pence at the Olympics for the entire duration that New China Cafe conjured an anal demon within my body. Thank you, New China Cafe, for combatting my Sunday Scaries! New China Cafe is my favorite spot to order Chinese delivery. There are a lot of bad chinese restaurants in Denver, and I was looking for "the spot" for the longest time. I had no idea this place even existed until a co-worker recommended it one day. Plus it is one of the only places that will deliver to both my work and my home. (Cap Hill and Cherry Creek) The food comes pretty fast and has never been cold. On cold or snowy days the delivery time can run up to an hour or more around lunch time, so do not be shocked by long wait times during these days.! The delivery also has a $10 minimum and most of the lunch specials are $6-7, so throw in some soup or rangoons! I usually get beef and brocoli or general tso's for the lunch special. read more

I haven't been here for 15 years since I moved south.....New China does not disappoint! We had Drunken Noodles, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Combo Lo Mein, Hot Sour soup....Crab rangoons and the Crispy Wings!! WOW....large portions! Very good flavors.....get any Combo plate with the Crispy wings!!! Nothing short of incredible. You don't need any other Chinese spot in the city. Everything is delicious and the staff are wonderful. They take orders over the phone. If you get a message that the line is disconnected, just keep trying. Their phone rings off the hook during dinner hours. Always ready in 15 minutes or less though. Highly recommend. read more

This is great value Chinese food. The chicken lo mein had plenty of chicken and was a giant portion. It made three meals. I had to order the Kung pao chicken a second time a week later because it was so tasty. It actually had some spice which I find many American Kung paos lack. Free delivery too! read more

Well, to start off I almost hung up on them and told them to phuck off. RUDE !! He couldn't hear me, told me my order didn't make sense; I said well it's on your menu. Then it was ok. It was the beef, shrimp and pork lomein combo, I asked for only shrimp and beef. How hard is that?! Customer service us not part of this. I'm hoping the food makes up for lack of courtesy. Ok. This place is great! The portions were large, service was fast and friendly, and the food was perfectly spiced and full of flavor. We had the Kung Pao tofu, shrimp Lo Mein, and crab wontons. Definitely above average. The real test was how the leftovers held up. Everything tasted just as great as it did the day we ordered it. Best Chinese food in Denver! Great customer service and food is great. My favorite dish is the green bean chicken but many of the dishes are amazing. They give you plenty of food for the price. The food is generally ready within 10-15mins. I had one instance when they accidentally left out one of the dishes and they were extremely apologetic. They willing drove 20 mins to deliver my food, would not accept tip, and gave extra dumplings and lemon chicken. Def have great customer service. Highly recommend! read more

After living across the street from Great Wall for two years, I needed to find a new Chinese restaurant to fill the void. Great Wall is pretty much a Denver historic site, so there were some big shoes to fill. I ordered the lo mein dinner combo, and it is insane how much food was brought to me. Heaps and heaps of rice, lo mein, two chicken wings, and an eggroll were enough to last me two days. Not to mention this whole meal cost less than a bundle of bananas at Whole Foods. I mean we are talking under ten bucks for pounds of food. Now I don't want to admit this, but the lo mein was also much better than Great Wall's. Second time I wen there I got, the sesame chicken. Again a boatload of food but was clearly not as impressive as the lo mein, yet set me back around 8 bucks. So I am still torn and feel like there will always be an eternal battle in my heart between Great Wall and New China Cafe, but for the time being New China is my number 1. read more
