Absolutely disgusting is all I have to say. Disgusting - absolutely disgusting.That's New China Buffet in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Driving home to South Florida from Hendersonville, North Carolina, I found myself at exit 5, just miles north from the Georgia border. Heavy rains and an already long weekend meant I was spending the night in Hardeeville. Checking into my hotel, I found a number of local area menus on the counter. Turns out New China Buffet was right across the street. According to the menu, all one must do to receive a discount was to show their hotel key. Cold, unappetizing, and disgusting looking food. Table was sticky and my server spoke to someone on the phone in - I presume - Chinese the entire time. No duck sauce for the egg rolls or fried rice. Chicken meals were - I hope - actually chicken. I'm not sure what the spare rib tips tasted like. All items - with the exception of the soup - were cold. I did save a dollar on the meal by presenting my hotel room key. Having traveled all weekend and not wanting to start an argument, I just paid and left. When stopping in Hardeeville, South Carolina, you should skip the New China Buffet at exit 5. William E. NEVER EAT HERE !! My family and I decided after a long trip in the road to grab a bite to eat. We saw the A rating on the front door but the low reviews on Google but still wanted to give it a shot. We ordered a family style meal including shrimp and broccoli, vegetable soup, shrimp fried rice with chicken wings , and bbq boneless spare rib tips . We took it back to our local motel room and was in for a surprise. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE! The vegetable soup tasted like water and vegetables with barely any vegetables..two pieces . The shrimp and broccoli had a foul taste to it and there was a shrimp in particular that did not look like shrimp...it had a cube shape . The bbq spare ribs were pretty decent , but the texture did not come off like pork meat, it tasted very different . My shrimp fried rice another plate with an unusual texture but I did appreciate that they de-veined the shrimp. Awful awful awful. Ordered teriyaki beef, got teriyaki sauce that didn't taste like teriyaki sauce or anything I could think of. They don't serve gravy with egg foo yung. What?! And the EFY was not good anyway, couldn't find any onions or bean sprouts in it, but I did find big pieces of fat. Egg roll soggy and barely had any filling. I did not eat our takeout and would not feed this to our dog. We were travelling up 95, stopped for late night take out. The chicken teriyaki is actually thigh and leg meat mashed up with stuffing, and deep fried. I would not feed it to our dog. It hit the trash at the gas station. The beef teriyaki was shoe leather, and close to ransid. It even smelled bad when I opened the container. I took two bites. The beef lo mein was equally appetizing. All hit the trash. In retrospect, I think the hostess was pretty deceitful. She took our cash when we ordered. She told us she gave us extra beef teriyaki, and flashed it before us. She was careful not to open the chicken teriyaki. This is the stuff that makes people go out of their way to write reviews. Thanks. We were hungry. So much for our $18 and getting chinese food. I went to the bathroom to wash up. I think I came out dirtier than going in. The restroom was horrid. A disaster. I'm not sure how people can live like this, let alone run a business like this. I ordered shrimp fired rice and it tasted like old mouldy laundry it wasn't good and the rice had only 2 shrimps in it and also ordered sweet and sour chicken and got shrimp instead by the time I found out I was already back in my hotel room. If you're there as soon as they open, the food will be fresh and decent to eat. The later you go, the better the chance the food may have been sitting there for a while, especially aince they don't get too busy with customers that much. Not too many options, but understandable for the size of the place. It could use a little updating though. Especially in the bathrooms. Overall, a decently priced place. And if you get the buffet to go, they don't charge by weight like most Chinese buffets do. It's tolerable for me at times if I get there early enough. read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. I ended up in the hospital with server food poisoning. I was in the hospital for 3 days because of their nasty rotten food. I hope they eat the nasty food they serve n end up like me sick in hospital. There is no excuse to serve food that's bad . I order take out the food didn't look bad but the taste wasn't good nasty freezer burn taste on the chicken n the beef n broccoli wasn't good at all. Very greasy too. This was the absolute WORST Chinese place I've ever eaten at. One car in the parking lot should have told me something. Humongous hornets nest the size of texas on the patio. Waitress talked us into eating the buffet - looked liked food was sitting in the trays for a long time. Food was not that hot.
