The food is good. Delivery is reliable. You can customize everything on the menu on the online order. It's all very cool.

I found my new chinese resturant! They have 1 of my favorite dishes, Spare Rib Tips! The egg rolls (another fav of mine) were delicious. I had the house special chow mein. Crispy noodles, white rice, shrimp, pork, beef, chicken, & vegatables very good. Christy my partner in Dine had house special mei fun - she was so excited that I found this place because Mei Fun noodles are her absolute favorite! Was excited after reading the reviews but we were sadly disappointed. I tried the chicken with mixed vegetables and my girlfriend had the curry chicken. Both came with an egg roll and fried rice and were both tasteless. The chicken was slimy and gross. The egg roll was well stocked with vegetables but also had very little flavor. Since I moved to St. Louis about four months ago, I have been looking for a good, cheap Chinese spot. Having been to China myself, I typically like a place that offers cuisine somewhat like that you can actually find in China, as well as sort of the American-Chinese classics (like crab Rangoon...that's not actually Chinese). New China did this in my opinion! I went a little crazy on my first takeout order there and got the wonton soup, crab Rangoon, chicken with broccoli, AND a large order of fried rice. This was enough food for two days which was great. The wonton soup was my favorite part. The broth was a flavor punch and you could tell that the wontons had been handmade. The fried rice was fresh, and it included some onions and bean sprouts in it. The chicken with broccoli was delicious as well, albeit maybe a bit oily; I ordered a small, which came with a side of steamed white rice, and that was enough to fill me up on the second day. I will definitely be returning whenever I get a craving for Chinese food. As far as your everyday, cheaper-end Chinese food goes this place is five-star worthy. read more

Extremely disappointed with my first experience at New China. I ordered for pick up and I did not receive two items in my order. When I called to fix this, I was hung up on the first time. Next, the person on the phone left me waiting for 10 minutes before answering. After calling two more times, the line was busy. Let me tell ya, this place is a gem of a find. I deliver food from here regularly and decided to finally take the plunge and try their food. What a smart move! Wow! First I tried their fried jumbo shrimp. I'm not sure if they bread it there (they make a lot of their own stuff) but it's fantastic. Crunchy, of course, but not greasy. The sauce you get with it is standard fare but seemingly a better flavor than usual. They also have a dish called Shumai that is also shrimp that's lightly fried with a different sauce that is incredible. My only complaint is there's not more in a serving, but 8 pieces is plenty for the price. I've also had their special St. Paul sammich, which is also unique and delicious. They have a spice that I cannot explain because all my taste is in my mouth. It's tough to tell what it is but it adds a flavor I've not found at other places. I'm a big fan of Chinese food, even though this and 99.9% of Chinese restaurants are not authentic. It's not because they don't want to serve it but because us picky American's have Americanized most foods brought to the states to suit our tastes. Regardless, this is spectacular and the price is definitely right. The family that runs this place, from what I've gathered speaking with them, are from China so there will be a language barrier to a degree. They are extremely kind and generous every time I've been here. The place is always busy as well so you know it's good food. Take your time and it'll be well worth the investment. I promise. Excellent experience. Ordered delivery to our hotel. Very fast, within 30 minutes. House Special fried rice was full of meat and veggies, and was well seasoned. Delivery around 8:45 (no fault of driver/GrubHub). The food was just okay...1 of 2 of us, "would not eat that again, ever." I don't like to just give out 5 stars for anything...that being said I really believe this place deserves it. I realize that this isn't Chinese fine dining but the service and food here were extraordinary! We ordered Mongolian Beef, Szechuan combination, special egg foo yong, crab rangoon, crab sticks & shrimp egg rolls. The beef was very tender and flavorful. They actually make the crab sticks right with perfect breading. They offer the sweet variety of crab rangoon and gave us a big bagful for 3.95 tasty! The shrimp egg rolls were huge and also very good. They even gave us some (real) sugar cookies for dessert! Yum! We will be back! Definitely worth a stop! This is a great spot for yummy and cheap Chinese take out! The service was friendly and very quick. The dinner special is a good portion for the affordable price. For two dinner specials I paid $15, and that's a great deal. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the beef with mixed vegetables and both were delicious! Always fast, always friendly, always a HUGE portion. This is my go to for fresh, hot and tasty Americanized Chinese food. Now a few thoughts on Crab Rangoon. Everyone has a couple. You're either in the garlic Crab Rangoon, or you're in the sweet camp. Theirs are of the sweet variety. I am typically team garlic. These are still fantastic, and if your insulin levels allow for it. I highly suggest you try them. The menu is exactly the same as every other Chinese takeaway in the city. Don't expect to find any treasures. Although they do have a couple curries. Not always a menu staple. Then of course, since this is Saint Louis, there is naturally a St. Paul sandwich available. One of these days, I am going to have to try one. The pot stickers were extra doughy. Not appetizing at all. The beef and broccolli was supposed to be extra spicy and actually tasted rather bland. This was a first time last time at the location. The staff were very nice during the ordering process. The store appeared clean. It took 30 minutes to get my rather small order on a Tuesday night. $16 for an appetizer and entree. I love getting this for takeout and delivery. I haven't actually been to the restaurant itself, but I've ordered delivery several times through Skip the Dishes and the food is always piping hot and fresh. Their Lo Mein is to die for. Seriously. It's so good. Their rice is also amazing, and the meat they use in their dishes actually looks appetizing! They use all white meat chicken in their dishes and the pork is seriously amazing. Did I mention the lo mein is amazing? It's amazing. The only food I've had from here which was not up to par were their eggrolls, which I didn't finish. Everything else is amazing and DIRT CHEAP. The food is disgusting, no beef in fried rice, egg foo young gravy clumpy and nasty. Even the crabless Rangoon are way too sweet, they are not as good as some of the other local spots( China Dish) What cemented the one star was the rude employees that you have to deal with when asking for basic requests i.e. bean sprouts. When they don't have them and you sub extra white rice and they just open box and through them in on top. What a joke! read more

I discovered this little family owned gem on Skip the Dishes. I used to order delivery, and now I order for pickup. The best eggrolls in town and the absolute best dumplings I have had. I order at least once a month, and am never disappointed. I tried several local places after moving to St. Louis a couple of years ago, and none of them compare to New China. I have tried a myriad of menu items, and they were all well made and tasty. My daughter and I will sometimes place a large order and ear it for several meals. The portions are large, and they sometimes throw in a little extra. I am a loyal New China customer. They have earned it! read more

Great for those occasions when you want close-by Chinese takeout. South City has long been hurting for a decent Chinese takeout joint. While New China isn't the best Chinese food by a long shot, it is (generally) quite good, and it's now our go-to choice for when we can't think of anything else or just want some good cheap Chinese food. We particularly enjoy the mei fun, garlic tofu (sweet and spicy), and moo shu (they offer a veggie version). The hot and sour soup is also good. Avoid the rangoon (too full, and too sweet), moo goo gai pan (nearly flavorless), and anything involving shrimp (consistently strong off-taste). One nice thing about New China is that the veggies are almost always very crisp and fresh--something I'd almost never experienced in takeout Chinese before. Best of all, the price is shockingly low--my wife and I can gorge ourselves and still have leftovers for about $20. All that said, the dine-in experience is...surprisingly off-putting. They bring your food in takeout containers, along with paper plates and plasticware to eat with. No good. So we just stick with takeout, and for dine-in Chinese, we head elsewhere. read more

I'm more of a keep getting the same thing over and over kind of girl but everything I have had has been awesome Crab Rangoon-sweet lots of filling Egg Rolls Shrimp Egg Roll Potstickers Fried Rice/steamed rice Lo Mein Orange/General Tsos/Sesame Chicken Egg Drop Soup I normally get the lunch or dinner combo and the portions are always huge. As far as Americanized Chinese food goes, it doesn't get better than New China. Their lo mein and crab rangoons are top notch, and served in massive portions. Service was very friendly, as well.
