Can't beat the people, food, or prices. And now they're finally open for dinner. Score!

Small diner with the usually diner foods that great for a quick meal with the kids before heading to Legoland. Our waitress was so pleasant, she even had a short conversation with us. When I sat on the chair I was super nervous whether it would hold my weight (big person thing), but it did. Overall this diner seemed to be a quite spot for local family and friends to meet together.

The service and the food selection are both very good. In this economy the prices are also reasonable for what you get.

My nephew was visiting from out of town and wanted to come here as he always remembered loving their penne Ala vodka, which he did enjoy. My mother on the other hand decided to order the Short Rib special that was written on the chalk board at the hostess stand. She got maybe two bites in, noted it was cold and the when she cut into the center it was frozen solid, as in I can see the freezer burn ice in it. Yikes! We called over the waiter who apologized and offered to bring something else out. She chose the Rumanian Steak, that came out nice and cooked. Obviously the rest of us were finished eating. She ate a bit and decided to pack it up. The waiter then brings over a piece of Flan as an apology, very nice. (Not all of us are flan fans but still a nice gesture). Now we get the check. They not only charged us for her meal but charged for the steak which was $40 vs the $27 frozen special. We asked to speak to the manager and he said it was a misunderstanding and would change it to charge it for the $27, fine I wasn't going to argue, he was nice about it. They ended up taking the meal off completely. It's a shame that these employees have to deal with the bad decisions and of the owners and head chef/kitchen manager. I will not be returning but wish the best for the staff.

It was very nice. Since there were so many if us they took special care to make sure that our orders were correct. Now the food, it is decent. I got a dish that I can't find on their online menu but it had chorizo, potatoes, black beans and avocados with three eggs. It wasn't bad. The creaminess of the avocado mixed well with the egg and potatoes. I wish there was more chorizo but other than that a solid dish. The portions are very large. I had to take some of mine home.

***4 1/2 stars*** I…read morehad a feeling I would be the youngest person in here by about 20 years, and that was confirmed immediately - it was basically the restaurant equivalent of seeing a Judi Dench movie in theaters. This place is a delightful time capsule that reminded me SO much of the little diner down the street from where I grew up in Hunterdon County, NJ called Ma-Dee's (which is still there). This is quintessential small town America at its finest. After passing by a few times during lunch, I decided to actually stop for a meal yesterday afternoon. I will say that the absolute worst part of this experience is the parking - you'd think that at some point in the last 40 years they would have secured more than the front area parking lot that requires you to back right into a county highway, or that at the very least they'd put down some white paint to denote some official parking spots so you don't have customers parking however they want at weird angles. I ended up parking in the back (keeping my fingers crossed that my car wasn't going to get towed for whatever reason), and had a tough time getting out without hitting some of the vehicles parked nearby. Thankfully a happy ending in that regard. I was told by an employee coming out of the kitchen to sit wherever I wanted, so I plopped down at the smaller counter off to the side. It wasn't particularly crowded in there despite it being lunch time, but everyone in there looked to be a) of retirement age and b) a resident of the nearby area. I stuck out like a sore thumb, though it probably did help that I was wearing a puffer vest. It's unusual for me to get anything other than breakfast at a diner, so I went with two eggs (scrambled) with hash browns, sausage and toast ($8!). Hit the spot. This obviously isn't Michelin-level food, but that's not why you go to a diner like this. The eggs WERE a little bland and definitely needed the pepper I added to them, but everything was perfectly fine and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you all of this food came out within two minutes. That really might be a record for something that by definition does need to be cooked to order. I was pretty stuffed after that but curious about the dessert options, and obviously couldn't turn down a highly-endorsed piece of chocolate cake. Delicious. I didn't confirm whether or not it was homemade, but that's certainly the vibe I got. The service was utter perfection. It was very obvious to everyone in there that I was making my Sparky's debut, and the staff made me feel right at home. They told me about the various celebrities that had frequented the diner over the prior few years (apparently Denzel is very nice), and were surprised to find out that I made the trek for lunch all the way from Pomona (which is literally about five minutes away but no matter). And the price point? It would honestly have been competitive during the Carter administration and I wouldn't be surprised if the prices haven't been adjusted since then. Definitely coming back with an appetite and an eye toward a very large parking spot.

It looks like they are doing some work near the lobby area, possibly weather related, but it did not take away from the experience. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away. The staff was friendly across the board and our server Emma was great. She checked in often and made sure we were good. Even though we ordered at different times, the food still came out relatively quick. Now onto the food. We had two Godfather omelettes with home fries. They were okay, but mine lacked flavor and the hash browns were overcooked. The potato skins with bacon were good, but also a bit overcooked. The standout for me was the breakfast egg rolls. Stuffed with Taylor ham, egg, and cheese, they were juicy, crispy, savory, and loaded with gooey cheese. Easily the best thing I had. We also had the bacon egg and cheese biscuit sliders, which I was told were good. The fish and chips, on the other hand, did not hit. It was greasy, heavily breaded, and the fish was mushy inside. The fries had a slightly off taste, though not terrible. I also had an espresso martini. It was decent, not the best I have had, but still enjoyable. Overall, the experience was good. Friendly service, a clean and comfortable space, and some strong menu items mixed with a few misses. I would come back to try more, especially the Bandito Burrito, Latin Steak and Eggs, buttermilk pancakes, short rib and egg tacos, Mexicali skillet, Cuban breakfast, cheesy bacon tots, Irish Dream coffee, and Pirate's rum punch. And definitely those breakfast egg rolls again.

Shrinkflation is the new name of the game here from my experience over the past couple of months!…read more $14.95 for 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, toast, and 2 sausage links. 1. The new sausage links are significantly smaller than they used to be. 2. You're never going to get 2 eggs. It always looks like a bit more than 1 egg when scrambled, portions are horrible. 3. Home fries are dry and bland. 4. I don't even think they really butter the toast anymore either. This weekend 3 adults and 1 child eating sliders, 2 burgers, an adult shake and a kids shake came to $100. When eating I asked the waiter if I could get a slice of onion for my burger, he told me it would be $1 extra. I said "oh I think you misheard me, can I just get a few pieces of raw purple onion for my burger, nothing fancy?" Nope, after speaking to manager they now want 55 cents for a slice of a vegetable on the burger! I jokingly asked "How much for the entire onion?" They responded that they won't sell an entire onion. And remember when you would get a burger deluxe and there would be a bunch of french fries on your plate, not anymore here. Now they put a small handful of french fries in a small metal cup on your plate, maybe 20 medium fries. Now it's $1.00 for a slice of cheese and 75 cents for lettuce and tomato. So now it's $15.95 for a cheeseburger with a few french fries, an onion ring, cole slaw, and pickles. They won't charge you for an extra pickle slice yet, so at least I could eat a few pickle spears with our $100 burgers. Also, $3.25 for a seltzer?!! This place is crazy! I wonder how many times the topic of charging for ketchup, salt & pepper came up b/c that's next I fear! The prices go up, the portions get smaller, and we get nickel and dimed for every little thing. So I left a significantly smaller tip, if I'm going to get cheaped out on every little thing then I'm going to start doing it too. If prices increase by 20% and portions decrease by 20% and service decreases then that's where I'm going to find my savings. Sorry to say, this is our new reality.
