Food here for me has been hit or miss. Its either super good or just ehhh though never bad. Plus I do admit I love the environment even though I am not normally even one to care. It really gives a old diner feel and I enjoy that quite a lot. my first time trying mexican(ish) breakfast and i was very pleased. I had the green montadas breakfast special, which was a huge plate of enchiladas in green sauce, eggs, hash browns and beans. after you start digging in, the plate starts to resemble an abstract expressionist painting with all the different colors of the sauces and the food blending. stuffing your face has never been so artful. we had come with a party of about 30, and i was surprised how deftly the service handled us. they were not just composed and upbeat, but had that hustle and timing. as a former server, i really appreciated the professionalism. will certainly be coming here over ihop in the future read more

Have been going to this restaurant for a number of years...all good, however, the last three times there have been disgusting, to include today,s breakfast with raw hash browns and hard egg yolks (ordered sunny side up). When I brought it to Vanessa's attention (our server), she just shrugged her shoulders and did absolutely nothing except to tell me to order the hash row s crispy next time. Some nerve! By far the best place to go for brunch, prices are very affordable and the food is delicious, if you go there on a Saturday or Sunday morning be prepared to wait to get a seat as it gets very packed but it's worth the wait trust me. The staff is super friendly and nice. read more

Our friends who brought us pointed out the historical features of the building from the original Clock Restaurant so that was neat. As far and the food and the service, both were very good. The menu is extensive but I think I sampled a little off everyone's plates and the chillis rellano and the queso dip were pretty memorable. All in all, I get the popularity of the New Clock and hope it hangs around a while longer. read more

So, aside from. Them being extremely busy and taking a minute to get a seated (we had 10 people so they're excused) I would say it is an excellent and well priced version of Waffle House. The service was great, food was fresh and overall, just a good solid food choice. If you're not familiar with Waffle House, it is a southern delicacy. Yeah, in MS, we have family reunions at Waffle Houses, and Christmas morning meals...so yeah, it's a big deal. Anyways, to familiarize the way I rank, 3 stars is pretty darn good. The food here is BOMB. The prices make it even better. The only issue I had was the customer service, I'm hoping maybe everyone was having a bad day but everyone was rude, short, and straight-faced. Me and my friend had asked our server to split our check and after we both paid and headed out, they made a huge scene assuming that we didn't pay, but once they figured it out they apologized. So I have now come to eat here three times. Food order has always been as ordered and for breakfast I am honestly say I am pretty happy. It isn't 4 star dinning but it does give you a quality plate. Staff is courteous and looking to get everything out as quickly as possible while keeping the coffee and water cup filled. I honestly have 2-3 breakfast items I plan to try before leaving the area. Been here twice and every time we go, the food was great, the service was fast and the coffee is awesome not to mention cheap! The caldo de res is good, very hot and had a lot of beef and vegetables. It was me & my husband's 1st time here it's morning we found this diner and since breakfast spots are hard to find in El Paseo we were excited to try the food after reviewing yelp as We walk in it's busy we are told by a waitress to seat our selfs so we found a table in the back it's a clean restaurant the decor displays a variety of clocks on the wall. we have been sitting & waiting on a server for about 15 minutes now so I got up and grabbed a few menus to look over while we waited for a waitress to come over to our table we were reviewing the menu it had a variety of breakfast, lunch, & dinner items, there were also Mexican entrees after looking over the entire menu I'm going to take a guess that it's Mexican & American dishes that are mainly on the menu. After waiting almost 20 minutes our waitress arrives she asked if we would like something to drink and if we are ready to order my husband gets the pancakes eggs & bacon, I order the waffle bacon, & they substitute my eggs for hashbrowns at no extra charge. our order comes to the table in less than 15 minutes. The pancake breakfast all (3) cakes were burnt & had a Smokey taste to it the eggs were over cooked and had some toasty brown color the bacon was okay. The breakfast waffle was also burnt with a smokey under taste, the bacon was chared at the ends, the hashbrown was a little over cooked and was greasy I was disappointed and looked around for our waitress she was nowhere insight so after waiting over 10 minutes I got up with my breakfast plate in hand and decided I'm leaving so I found my waitress and let her know the issue she apologized & got the manager who also apologized she didn't give her name and I did ask but it was so busy she didn't hear me I let the manager know that I didn't eat my food & that it was burnt she offered to issue a discount but instead she didn't charge me at all for both meals. I appreciated that I wasn't charged and thanked her. Unfortunately for the quality of service & food offered here I will not be returning I hope that for future customers they have a better experience than I did & that there food is edible. read more

Only go here if you're black out drunk because that's the ONLY way the food will taste good or he service will be even close to good. My husband and I came in for breakfast and ordered steak and eggs, by the time I finished my drink, (and never got a refill btw) the food came. The steak was over cooked and the eggs weren't cooked the way I asked at all. The server NEVER came back.. not once to check on us. So we basically were stuck with this food and finally asked for someone to bring it back to the kitchen. After waiting another half hour, the same food came back but on a warm plate. We asked for a check because at this point just wanted to leave.. and expressed our unsatisfying experiences to the manager and we got a whopping 5% off the bill. read more

Some people seem to like their chips less thin and crispy. The best value is to get the burritos. I got the chile relleno and the Colorado burrito and was full for $4. Our waitress was super sweet and the food came very quickly. This is now our third day in a row here. The staff are extremely friendly. They remember you and always come by and say hi. There is a very family friendly atmosphere. You can here the cooks singing in the kitchen and the food always comes our perfect. Lots of grandmas and grandpas. Pancakes were super good. Nice and thick and fluffy. The beans were just like I like em: Nice and heart attack-inducing. Even my plain old scrambled eggs tasted awesome. Hashbrowns were brown and crispy. Everything served in large quantities and in a hurry and piping hot. They cook so well here; these guys know their Mexican breakfasts and are serious about them. Everything's so greasy and scrumptious, and well, Mexican. Mmmm. Our waitress was a doll. There is many reasons to write this review- whether it's because of the caring staff or the value oriented menu. After all that, I love this place because it was one of my dad's favorite spots who I know was a appreciated regular here - I think lots of old timers love this place since it does have that low key local diner feel. The menu has plenty of choices and the couple different meals I tried were good and well priced - some full meals being $2-$4 which is awesome to me coming from San Diego costs.
