My good friend Jasmine introduced me to New Cottage and told me it was her favorite Chinese Restaurant. I know that she has always given really good recommendations and I trust her judgment so I went with her for lunch. Ever since then, I went with her whenever we were both available and in the mood. Most recently, I came with all of my girlfriends and we ordered a lot of food for the table to share. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were really great about one of my friends bringing her service dog into the restaurant and I know that can be hard sometimes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was really good and I enjoyed my meal. They know my friend at the restaurant because she's a frequent customer and she always goes with her mom. I'm surprised that I don't come in to order more often too because the food and the service is so good.

This was my first time at a Chinese restaurant on the upper west side. New Cottage is a tiny level up from your usual Chinese take out restaurant. It wasn't bad and it wasn't really good either. The eggplant with garlic sauce was literally just eggplant, no scallions or tasty garnish..just plain ole eggplant and garlic sauce that didn't have that garlic taste. The spicy diced chicken wasn't spicy, it was rather just very salty as if the chicken was soaked in salt overnight! It's okay but I wouldn't go back. Very simple, basic meals. It was busy for a Thursday lunch period. It's mediocre Chinese food with tables, a wait staff and tables with white tablecloth pleasing for the upper west side I suppose.

Maybe I'm just totally out of touch with prices. Lunch special was 12.95, so with tax it was $14.10. Portion was the expected small container of the lunch, plus ride and a soup. I get it's a better deal than dinner pricing but it did feel pricey.

Try the duck...20 dollars for a 1/2 duck sliced to perfection...they sadly discontinued the Cantonese meats where you could chose from 1-3.. Calm seating looking out to the bustle of UWS Broadway.

It's good Chinese take in or out, that's overpriced on Broadway & 78th St. in NYC. Won't return though.

Do they have a website for ordering or participate in any delivery services, or is it phone-only? I can't find any listing for them.

Don't think so. I always call and pickup. Sure you can use grub hub or similar service

Chinese food--but not just Chinese food. The menu is all over the place in the best way possible,…read morewith everything from fried chicken and biscuits to spicy noodles, so there's something for everyone. The food comes at you from all angles, making it hard to decide what to order. I couldn't help but wonder if this used to be the old hip-hop club I used to go to! The food and the vibe were both on point. I loved my meal, and the background music made the experience even better. I would definitely like to come back and work my way through more of the menu. BB

This restaurant is part of the Chase Sapphire reserve dining credits! We had read reviews and had an idea of what we wanted to get, but also spoke with the waitress on her recommendations and ultimately went with: Pork dumplings Salt & Pepper chicken Tiger shrimp with walnuts Oyster mushroom rice noodles Snow pea shoots I think my favorite was the oyster mushroom rice noodles with steak. The rice noodles were so silky and the flavor was good. The salt and pepper chicken was also super crispy and very juicy and tender on the inside and whatever sauce that came on the side of it is so addicting. The tiger shrimp was also good, though the menu said it came with a romanesco cauliflower, but the dish was served with broccoli. The snow pea shoots are one of my favorite vegetable dishes and, in my opinion, was just a little overcooked and doesn't need the garlic oyster sauce that comes on top. It's such a cute restaurant and you can open the vending machine door and grab a surprise treat on your way out!

I started with the peanut chicken lettuce wraps (leaving one on the plate to save room), then moved on to the fried shredded beef and the fried chicken instant noodles (which really caught my eye) I was craving something heavier this time, and those noddles did justice. Overall, everything was satisfying. The lettuce wraps could've used more peanuts (I barely tasted them), and the fried shredded beef was labeled spicy but had zero heat. Still, the food hit the spot and left me full and happy. The service was outstanding. The restaurant dining area was very clean and well-maintained, my drink was always full, and the food came out quick and hot. The portions were very generous. I ended up taking some home, and they packed it up fast. Happy food, happy customer!

Grab your camera the bathroom selfie is a must it's so cute in there, but I didn't come here for that so let's get to it! I had their smashed garlic cucumber and that was super tasty after we had their mapo tofu with minced beef! Cooked to perfection the sauce was spicy and delicious paired well with white rice. My little one had their vegetable steamed dumplings and those were phenomenal! Then for dessert we had their new custard carrots omg it was light crispy and the custard was so light and sweet! We also had their special truffle chocolate animal ice cream. Rich and creamy chocolate ice cream so beautiful we didn't want to dig into it but we tore it up! I will go back to try some other dishes like I said I ran into this place not in the plans but turned out to be a delicious run.

Ordered dinner takeout here from GrubHub…read more - Sampan porridge: 6/10, I liked the broth flavor and the peanuts, but didn't really like the meats in this. We started with egg drop soup and calamari. For mains we got sweet and sour pork, stir fried green beans, and crispy noodles with beef. Egg Drop Soup- Deliciously creamy and silky. Sweet and Sour Pork- Crispy deep-fried pork pieces that were tender and juicy. The sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Very tasty. Stir-fried Green Beans- This was wonderfully fresh. You still get a light crunch out of the beans and a garlicky finish. Crispy Noodles with Beef- Noodles were delightfully crisp with a savory sauce. The beef pieces were tender.
