Tri Dim Shanghai on the UES was fantastic--authentic, flavorful food, attentive service, a full bar, and spotless from start to finish. Friendly atmosphere and overall just the whole package. Definitely a spot we'll return to.

We have been coming to this restaurant for several years now and unfortunately it has changed a lot and not for better . Food is still good but service is very rude and less than acceptable. On several occasions in the last few months we had a really bad experience with service. Rude waiters , not willing to accommodate your standard requests ( like bringing appetizers all together for each guest. We were party of 3 and other 2 people had to wait 15 min or so to get their appetizers so one person for being polite and waiting for other people food to show up ended up eating cold food) few items on the wine menu was not available and waiter pushed other higher priced items . No one poured our wine , we had to do it ourselves, also water glasses not being refilled . When check came and we did not wanted to leave gratuity for the lack of decent service, our water demented a tip and was really forceful and very rude about it ) it's a shame ! It was a really good restaurant and I am not sure what happened to it . Food however is still good and if it was served on time not cold , that would have been even better. Lovely ambiance. After dining here several times we won't be coming back .

Their lunch special is spectacular for 1295 or 1395. You can get a spring roll or soup and an entrée with rice. I honestly had to bring home half of my entrée back because I couldn't finish it!

I came here for lunch special. The food was very good. Price is reasonable. They also have a lunch special menu. The places are well-designed and clean. The service was very attended.

Tri dim is my go to Chinese restaurant on the UES. The service is excellent and the food always great as well. We have tried many dishes and all of them have been excellent so it's hard to pick a favorite! We've had the pork soup dumplings, hot and sour soup, egg roll, thick noodles, chicken with broccoli, sesame chicken, eggplant in garlic sauce and shredded beef with chili pepper. I can't wait to come back to try more!

Tridim West is known for its traditional Chinese Cuisine and mouthwatering dim sum. We tried the crab pork soup dumplings , crispy shrimp balls--they all packed with flavor and oh-so-delicious! The decor is modern and nice. Whether you're a dim sum fan or exploring the Upper West Side, this spot is a must-try! Make a reservation for Sunday lunch. We got the last table luckily without one. The service was friendly and professional. The dumplings were all delicious. The room is decorated nicely. Great spot on the UES, walking distance from the Met Museum.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

One trick to having a good meal at an unfamiliar restaurant is to attempt to observe most other people are having before placing one's order. In this case, we should have observed that most customers during our visit seemed to order noodles and noodle soups, not dim sum. The ordering process follows a fast-casual format -- order at the counter or at one of the two kiosks next to the counter. Then get a seat, wait for your number to be called (in Mandarin and English), and pick up your order at the counter. We ordered two things to start, but were glad we left it at that. The dim sum here could have been better, especially considering the price. - Minced Beef Rice Noodle Roll 牛肉腸粉: $6.50; $7.08 with tax. Yuck. A not fresh, fishy 腥 odor / taste. - Shu Mai 燒賣: $7.75; $8.44 with tax. Meh. Factory-made, relatively small, lean. Seating is cafeteria style. Condiments, plastic cutlery and disposable wooden chopsticks are available at a centrally located table in the seating area. The seating area is brightly lit and very clean. There is a well-maintained unisex restroom with ADA grab bars -- request the key from counter staff.

I was browsing for places with scallion pancakes and I came across this restaurant. I saw they had a scallion pancake beef rook which I'd never seen before. It was fried and crispy on the inside with tender beef on the inside, that was slightly savory slightly sweet. I had the roll on its own, which made for a light meal, but it can also be enjoyed as a large snack. It was a little greasy, which can be expected, but not sure if I'd get it again. I did think it was innovative though. The most impressive thing about the restaurant was actually the space. I came to pick up my food and was surprised to see this beautiful place. The outside is unassuming and nothing special but inside has the aesthetic of an old Shanghai restaurant. It's ornate and slightly quirky. It's also really big, bigger than I expected. Even the bathrooms had traditional Chinese flare with the sliding doors. Definitely worth checking out,

Some of the most memorable dishes were the Mapo Tofu ($13.99), Hutaoli Roast Chicken ($43 for whole), Spicy Pot Potato ($19), Roasted Green Beans ($22), etc. All of the food is good, but definitely pricey. While the food also came out quickly, our drinks came out towards the end of our meal. It's a good spot for big parties as it never got too busy even on a Saturday night. They also have private rooms. The live music was fun, but also made it hard to have conversation.
