Some friends were in town and we had a busy day ahead of us so rather than going to my usual preferred breakfast location of Peg's Glorified Ham and Eggs or even EggWorks we decided on a closer location in New Day Cafe. I've been to this location a few times before and overall it's alright. It has a variety of items on the menu (only breakfast and lunch), prices are reasonable, but food doesn't really knock your socks off. It's like a high level version of Denny's but without the bacon being paper thin. And what's the deal with bacon being super thin and pathetic? Just charge me more and give me a thick slice! Not some sad burn victim scab! Anyhow, I digress...... New Day Cafe is pretty easy to find, it's in the same building as China Tango. We went on a Sunday morning and it was semi-busy. Most of the clientele were older folk looking like they're about to head out to church or spending a lazy Sunday hoping for quality bacon. Here's some of what we ordered and what we thought: California Omelet - It was okay. It tasted exactly like what the ingredients listed - bacon, eggs, avocado, and monterery jack cheese. The bacon was crunch and the omelet was pretty decent. Rancher Omelet - This is like the meat lover's kind of omelet if your meat of choice is pork. Bacon, sausage, and ham. Chicken Enchiladas - Overall they were okay, but you would get a better mexican food experience going to Robertos across the parking lot. Chorizo and Scrambled eggs - The dish was a little skimpy on the chorizo, but the eggs and hash browns were fine. Overall New Day Cafe gets the job done if you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast. I wouldn't really take friends here if we were looking for something more substantial and tasty. New Day was fine, but nothing to really go out of your way for. I suppose if this were a Seinfeld episode then this place is like Reggies where you go if you can't go to Monks because your pals took up your usual 4 seater booth by inviting your fiancee thereby killing Independent George. Serving as a gateway to the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area and picturesque parks and trails, Anthem Highlands is a special place for a new day of outdoor adventure. And the prime spot to start the new day of outdoor adventure is the New Day Cafe.    The New Day Cafe is a family owned breakfast and lunch diner in the Albertson's-anchored Anthem Highlands Shopping Center. Tucked in a shopping complex with chain stores such as CVS, Bank of America, Albertson's, Verizon, Subway, and Pizza Hut; it is easy to overlook this jewel. My brother and I almost did. It just so happened that we learned about this diner by accident. During the beginning days of Stay Home for Nevada Phase Two, the majority of the restaurants in the shopping center were take out only. When I am about to set out on miles of outdoor adventure that doesn't sit too well. Fortunately New Day Cafe was open for dining in. Subsequently my brother and I would dine here two times before hiking adventures through the Anthem Highlands and Inspirada to the landscape where Henderson merges into the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area.    The two times that we ate here, the service was very good. The Waitress never hurried us and never failed to top off our bottomless cup of coffee. Good customer service included a glass of water with the meal. The customer service was so friendly that it permeated with its guests. My brother and I got into a long discussion with the customers at the next table. A good breakfast will bring out the best in people. In my opinion New Day Cafe is more of a breakfast place. It closes at 3 pm before dinner. Before I go on to write about their breakfast, I will share that my brother really liked the hamburger they served him on the second visit.    Being that this review is penned during the Coronavirus 19 Era, before eating the food, I went to the restroom to wash my hands for at least twenty seconds. Just like the rest of the restaurant, the restroom was very clean but nothing fancy. Following other Covid-19 protocol, the restaurant was obviously at 25 percent capacity and the staff were wearing face masks. Now for the food.    The two breakfasts that I ate in the New Day Cafe were my leading full service breakfasts since Covid-19 hit the United States. It is understandable that I enjoyed every minute of my breakfast here. The first breakfast was the New Day Breakfast Special. It costs $9.99. To me this was their "Best Of" special that gave me a taste of their breakfast items. Mine included pancakes, two slices of bacon, and scrambled eggs. I thought that the food was very good and that they served a generous portion of it. Just like Anthem Highlands is a gateway to the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, this was a gateway to the New Day Breakfast area of fruity pancakes, omletes, and numerous breakfast items. However, during breakfast #2, I ordered the egg salad sandwich. I love egg salad. Unfortunately it was much more famous in the New York bagel shops where I grew up in New York than it is in the Las Vegas valley. I savored the opportunity to give it a try. And I have something to say, "It was awesome!" At $7.99 it came with fries. New Day Cafe loaded up the sandwich with delectable egg salad that looked as delicious as it tasted. It looked so delicious that the dining friends that we made complimented my sandwich. In turn I complimented it on Yelp by saying from my heart that I highly recommend the New Day egg salad sandwich. Complementing the breakfast was a cup of savory hot coffee. The bottomless coffee costs $2.49. In my opinion it was equally or even better than that chain with the Green Mermaid logo.    After my two breakfasts here that could be the start of additional visits, I can surmise that New Day is more than breakfast in a Gateway location to the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area and beautiful parks and trails. It is also the Gateway to breakfast and lunch adventures in dining. On future adventures I would like to experience eating their fruity pancakes, omelets, BLT, and a burger. read more

Great local cafe serving breakfast and lunch. I've tried the waffle, burgers, sandwiches, and coffees. All tasted good and would order again. Fries are crispy, fruit is fresh, and the potato salad also had good flavor. Prices are affordable and service is fast. Ordering to go is easy and the order is always correct. New Day doesn't seem to get credit for doing much to everyone's liking, so I finally tried them for breakfast and left somewhat impressed! It's literally 4 minutes from my house, and too convenient not to be good! Breakfast is average in price, as you can't compare to casino breakfasts as they have a way to offset costs. My California omelette was not overcooked, which is what I hate about ordering one, and it actually was quite stuffed with bacon and avocado! The time for your food to come out was pretty fast, however, the overall dining room service left a little to be desired! There is no "skip in the step" of the one dining room server.
