The staff is always incredibly friendly and will likely remember you after just a few visits, which makes the experience feel personal. The food is amazing--while the spice level can vary slightly, we actually love that because it shows everything is made fresh from scratch. You can truly tell this family cares about both their customers and the quality of the food they serve.

I've driven past Himalayan Kitchen for years and finally decided to stop in after wondering what…read morekind of food they served. The outside of the building shows its age with some faded menu advertisements, but once inside the restaurant opens up more than I expected. At first it feels small, but past the bar there's a comfortable-sized dining room. Every TV was tuned to the World Cup, which gave the restaurant a fun, energetic atmosphere during my visit. Service was prompt and friendly. My waiter recommended the pork for the momo dumplings and also suggested pairing the meal with one of their Himalayan beers. After reading several Yelp reviews, I ordered the sizzling pork momo, naan, and chicken vindaloo. I also took the beer recommendation, which ended up being a good decision considering I ordered the vindaloo at a 4 out of 5 spice level. The sizzling momo was the standout of the meal. The dumplings were excellent, and the accompanying sauce was flavorful enough that I found myself dipping almost everything into it. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked, and the chicken vindaloo had a nice level of heat without overwhelming the other flavors. The chicken itself was tender and cooked well. Portions were generous, and I ended up with more food than I could comfortably finish by myself. Overall, this was a great first visit. Next time I'll bring my wife so we can share a few different dishes and explore more of the menu.

Best dumplings in San Antonio! The food was delicious, and the presentation was excellent. What…read moreimpressed me most was that there was only one employee handling everything--taking orders, preparing food, and serving customers--and they did an amazing job. The customer service was friendly and efficient, and the quality never suffered despite being a one-person operation. Highly recommend stopping by if you're looking for great dumplings and outstanding service. 5stars!!

When I discovered that San Antonio of all places had momos, I got really excited! Last time I had…read moremomos was in Rishikesh and they were the bomb (both in terms of taste and spice level.) The ones served at Momo House are different than what I had in India, but they were very tasty, and definitely a departure from the traditional dumplings we've come to know through Chinese cuisine. The menu is built to let you pick your protein, followed by the sauce / cooking style. For example, I ordered a dish of chili veggie momos, as well as pan-fried veggie momos. My colleague who was with me had lamb chow mein momos. We were all very happy with our momos. They were less spicy than what I previously experienced but still tasty. I also had a chai, and my colleague had a mango lassi. The chai was fine but could definitely have been spicier / stronger. The second lassi ordered was accidentally served plain, without mango. We didn't make a fuss. The lady at the counter was very friendly and did a good job otherwise. One word of warning about this restaurant: although it has seating, it's not really built to be a cozy restaurant. It's more of a takeout place. Half of the restaurant is a convenience store. The other half is a very utilitarian setup. Behind one of the counters, a man was repairing the wall. It seemed a bit industrial. All that said, the space was clean and the bathrooms were also acceptable. That's definitely a win and should never be taken for granted. If this space can be developed a little more and the chai improved, I think Momo House could deserve a 5 star rating. There's not a lot of competition out there, so it's a very achievable goal!
