I review very few establishments here on Yelp but feel I must give New England Air Supply of Danbury CT the ***** 5 STARS they deserve !! I had my entire 27 year old HVAC system replaced by them in August 2011. I did my shopping & found their reviews, prices & service to be EXCELLENT back then. System has been working GREAT since installation. I moved out of area January 2014 & now I am a Landlord with Tenants that called me this week to report small leak from a vent. NEAS was there next day to repair & do Tune-Up of AC which was over-due. Again with great service & reasonable rate. It's so good to find a company I like & trust so much...... Let me start by saying that i hate writing reviews but I was so taken by professionalism as well as empathy from carlos and robert that it will be unfair to the company not to sing their praises. I literally call them the angel of .HVAC. My story started when we bought a house 2.5 years ago, moved and hadn't realised that the heat pump wasn't working, after 2.5 years of high electricity cost we started to look for help. After many phone calls with various HVAC and the manufacturer (LENNOX), I finally reached out to Carlos. He was patient on the phone and took his time to explain the system followed up immediately. They turned up on time, fixed the system as promised, and was very honest with the pricing. I cannot recommend this company enough, if only there were a 100 stars on yelp. Yes, we are fans. NEAS dealt fairly with us after identifying a problem with a unit that was previously installed. The problem was not the fault of NEAS installation. Since it was already Fall when this issue was discovered, NEAS put this repair on their calendar for warmer months and we received a call from the company in late April to schedule. Everything was done in a short visit, very professional technicians. The day they worked on my unit was not humid, so they reminded me to check the functioning on a humid day, and to call them if the unit did not seem to be cooling as well as it should. We have been using these guys for 2 years. They already replaced a bad AC unit in our house. And we use them for our service of our a/c / heaters. We decided to change our boiler. Of course we picked the coldest week of the winter. And our house was a logistical nightmare do to limited access for a 600 lbs boiler into the basement. Rob and Carlos found a boiler that they could assemble the boiler in our basement making it smaller to bring down the stairs, used an electric handtruck to safely bring it down. Here is how they did it Day 1) brought in new boiler, did pre-work on setting it up. Too cold to take the old boiler out and start connecting new one (which was the original plan) Day 2) disconnect old boiler, connect new boiler, don't leave till it is fully installed. This also included all new piping, etc (there was a lot wrong with our old system). They did not leave our house till 9:30pm at night Day 3) Fine tune the installation, make sure all the I's are dotted and T's crossed, double check everything, put all the covers on, straighten out all the wires, etc. Then take the old boilers out (we had 2 boilers they replaced with 1), take all old parts. I called NEAS to come to a rental unit I own to check an issue with the gas furnace. They came to check my furnace and Lisa informed me the Honeywell control panel needed to be replaced. Then told me the panel itself would be $1330 and then $135 for the house call and $115 for labor I guess and air filter, for a total of $1580. Lisa told me that the Honeywell unit is very expensive and they are not kept in stock by Honeywell but that a local distributor had only one left, so I needed to decide asap. When I asked her for the model number she seemed taken aback. When she then gave me the model number of the unit she quoted me $1330, so I did a quick 30 second search and I found 6 available on Amazon for $313 with warranty!!! When I questioned her about this and asked her if they are marking it up $1000 she said she couldn't give me those details, but never confirmed or denied that NEAS was profiting $1000 off of the unit. I could understand them wanting to make money off the control panel, maybe 20-25%, even 50% like they marked up the air filter they replaced, (I paid $8 and they charged me $18) but marking it up over 300% is a sham! She then gave me some BS about how all the wiring had to be redone and that they couldn't install one that I purchased for $1000 cheaper bc it wouldn't be under warranty. So I kept trying to get her to answer why this is costing so much and she gave me more BS about how the manufacturer just tells her how long it takes to install and they go by their suggestion for pricing. So I asked her how long will it would take to instal and she again seemed taken aback but eventually quoted me an hour for two techs. Why two? Don't know bc only one came to the initial service call. So essentially her "flat rate" for the install is $1000 which is essentially $1000/hr. That's what I call very expensive wires and techs. If this weren't for a rental unit I own where the tenants have a new born baby, and if it weren't below freezing outside, I would have gladly told New England Air Supply (NEAS) where they could go. It would have been worth a day to order the unit myself and have another HVAC company come install it. This would have cost be roughly $500 and even after paying NEAS for their service call fee of $135, I would have saved easily $800-900. Lesson learned. I would never recommend NEAS for anyone looking to HVAC work in the future. read more

I had NEAS put in a new AC system for our 2nd floor which included an air handler. The coil had a leak after just 18 months which was apparently out of the manufacturers - First Company's- warranty which is very poor on their part as my previous unit lasted 16 years. I called NEAS twice after this happened, no response after messages left. Then finally I got Lisa on the line, I explained the issue and told her we needed someone to come out asap since we have no heat as a result of this issues and temperatures were below freezing. She refused as said they were too busy and they couldn't help because it was out of warranty. She didn't care we didn't have heat, didn't care that they installed a unit 18 months ago and broke and could have intervened with the manufacturer or come out and make the fix. This is after paying them $8k. Very unfair business practice. Very poor customer service. I will continue to explore all avenues to seek fair treatment from this vendor- or at least, warn others they do not stand behind their service. read more

I definitely would not recommend NEAS. They tried to overcharge me on a repair so that I would purchase a new furnace. It makes me really angry when people try to take advantage because its the winter and your heat is not working and they think you are vulnerable. I went with Hefferon and they were great. We solicited three proposals for the replacement of our worn-out home central air conditioner, choosing contractors based on web research. Carlos and Bob made a great first impression, and their knowledge and experience was evident throughout our conversation. Their positive impression was head-and-shoulders above the others, we decided that we would hire them, even before we received their quote. The quote was competitive, and a few days later, they arrived on time, with our shiny new Lennox units. Since our original Lennox had lasted 27 years, we thought it reasonable to stay with that brand, as recommended by Carlos and Bob. They took full responsibility for every aspect of the project, not leaving any loose ends for us. For example, we wanted modern, internet-connected thermostats with LCD screens, but we didn't have enough wires in the wall to accommodate the usual models. Carlos and Bob figured out a way to make it all work; creating our Honeywell account, connecting to our internet and getting everything working together correctly. Outside, the pad for our outdoor unit was in sorry shape. Bob went so far as to carefully select individual rocks from our rock garden to properly elevate the new pad, carefully avoiding the appearance of missing rocks from our garden. It actually looks beautiful. At the end of the day, we had a very clean installation, all the wires to the new circuit boards were neatly bundled, all of the duct joints taped neatly, etc. The air conditioner has functioned perfectly from that first day on, with zero problems. Lisa, the office coordinator, handled all the logistical details perfectly, and was very pleasant to work with. It is rare to find people with such a combination of competence, dedication to detail and pleasantness; so I enthusiastically submit this well-deserved positive review. read more

I had New England Air Systems NEAS come out to replace a leaking evaporator coil on a 2-ton air handler inside my home (built in 2000). They told me the part was not available for this unit and presented a proposal for replacing the entire air handler for nearly $7,000. To verify, I called the air handler company and found the $300 part right away, so now I just need a reputable AC contractor to install it for me. When I called NEAS back, they were full of excuses to try to cover their true intentions. Bottom line: You cannot trust this company to do the research necessary to service your existing units. They simply want to replace everything at great cost to you (and bigger profits to them). read more
