I have an older heat pump system in our master bedroom that's seen better days (like back in the 90's probably). It's been working on and off. Then not at all. I have had at least two companies look at this unit over the past few years. The system would work on and off again. I called Aaspen HVAC after a google search for 'HVAC repair' and they sent someone out. They did a true diagnostic (literally testing components, such as a capacitor to make sure it was working). BEWARE I had aaspen in for a HVAC tuneup. A few days after he was here,I went into my basement to find it flooded.I called back and they sent a mechanic who made some useless repairs and said it was OK. Sure enough,Went down to basement to find it flooded again. Called again.They sent a different mechanic who showed me a leak on some copper tubing. He said he would make the repair and "Joe"(who i assumed was the owner) would have to "eat this one". So I was surprised when I got a bill for over $600.00. I called to complain and he reduced it to $ 463.00.Now mind you ,I had no leak before aaspen came for the tuneup.The 2nd mechanic also said"Joe would have to eat this one" yet they tried to bill me. Had a new heating and cooling system installed by Aaspen HVAC , Joe was nice , one of the selling points was the unit came with a ten years warranty.After two years the system stop working completely in Feb. , I had no heat. I call the Aaspen office , a lady answers the phone and I explain the boiler had stop working and we had no heat, and we still had almost 8 years remaining on the warranty. The lady took my name and number and told me Joe would call me. He did return the call and told me he installs the unit but does not service them. That I was to contact the manufacturer of the unit Ameristar. Joe could not provide a number , for Ameristar, so I look it up on the internet. I call Ameristar, there customer service explained, that Aaspen as the installer would had to service the boiler as the warranty is issued to them as the dealer of the boiler and they our there listed on the warranty , they would have to service the boiler and advise what had gone wrong, then Ameristar would cover the replacement parts. I, call Joe back, still would not come out to service the boiler , so it's Feb. , my house is has a temp. of 48 degrees. I had to hire another firm , the boiler was found to be un fixable , as when Aaspen , had installed it incorrect so it was to damage to fix, they had change every part but the damage was so bad the boiler would not run for more than 8 to 10 hours,this went on for close to two , finally the new system was put in , this was after I fell in the middle of the night when the boiler went down again and I fell and dislocated my shoulder and had to under go a very painful operation and recovery to fix my shoulder. Joe , could careless, I filed a complaint with Westchester Consumer Protect, the piece of fiction , Joe wrote to them , he miss his calling in life. Common sense Joe I have nothing better to do with my hard earn money , but replace my boiler every two years, the one I prior lasted 35 years, and I replaced because to be on the safe side, even through it was still running with know problem.
