As a reference, while San Tung remains good at times, it can be extremely inconsistent and is insanely expensive because they can charge whatever they want, and do. NFR is, and has been for a long time, solid as a rock. The woman who runs front of house couldn't be nicer. The woman (and sometimes a man) in the kitchen are wizards cranking out menu items on demand, and even custom orders when requested. You'll sit next to first time tourists visiting SF and local, older aunties and uncles quietly eating their 'usual' orders. Anything soup or noodle-based is a winner, but pretty much anything else on the expansive menu is fire. Value is also a factor, large portions at very reasonable prices. Where can you get a bowl of won ton noodle soup for less than $11? New Fortune Restaurant! I came by on a Saturday around little before noon and was able to snag one of the two person tables before they got busy. There's not many tables here. 6 two person and one long table running down the middle to accommodate larger groups or more people in general when the smaller tables are taken. The hostess was my waitress and took my order promptly. My won ton noodle soup came out quickly after. If you are a fan of pork, you'll like the won tons. I like mine to have a bit more shrimp so it isn't so heavy and compact but the taste was great. Noodles were chewy and good portioned and the soup wasn't too salty. I'm not sure if they took credit cards since I paid with cash but the check out transaction was quick and I was on my way. It was a very first time I visited this restaurant. I came here with my friends, and it was a sudden visit not a planned one and it turned out to be amazing. The Resturant is not too big, but I did 25 people can adjust. The service was very warm and welcoming as they served everyone with a cup of jasmine tea, which felt very refreshing. We ordered one one plate of sweet and sour chicken, 1 plate of thin chicken noodle and shrimp fried rice. The chicken noodles and the fried rice was very basic, but we added some chili oil into it and it taste amazing. The sweet and sour chicken was very good, if you have a sweet tooth, you will definitely love it. It's a must try or else you can ask them to raise the hot little bit higher. The service was very fast. We hardly waited for 10 minutes and the amount of food was very good. I would say it's good for four people. Bathroom needed a key fob. The woman bought tea to us once we were seated. I ordered the wonton lo mein and my man ordered the beef noodle soup/stew? He said it was really good. As always, I have resorted to utilizing Yelp to ease my stress choice overload, which this place popped up. The salt and pepper pork (popular Yelp order) was very flavorful and tender with a very nice crispy outer layer. The beef pan fried noodles was tasty as well, with a duality of crunchy and al dente. Plate half steamed rice, half a decent serving of the stew, which is not liquidy as the term stew might suggest, but in a light sauce (not at all spicy). Big but bite-sized chunks of lamb, probably rib meat, because it was well layered with marbled fat, which made it juicy and tasty, not too much fat to eat. The noodles (we opted for fat noodles) were well flavored and tasty. There is only seating for about 20 people and one server that does both dine in and take out. She was busy - there was seldom an empty table for more than a few minutes - even at 3:30 in the afternoon. With that in mind, service was good. She refilled our water several times.
