Reviewed as a 4 star Chinese restaurant in SF's Chinatown! Must walk going here, no parking available. Order is cooked fresh because we had to wait a little bit while Sammy is driving around who waiting. Small space but food is great, max of 22 in this restaurant . Quick service at cashier/server. I would recommend this place. Big plate and price is reasonable !

Small non-fancy place with amazing food

We came in at 430pm on a Tuesday. This place is small and there were just enough seats for our family of five. Plan ahead. The food is tasty. Service is quick. Nothing fancy but the place is clean. The server recommended the chicken wings and I'm glad she did - delicious

Finding a good value in San Francisco could be a challenge especially in the cheap and cheerful category. The best deals can be found at mom and pops restaurants and at hole in the walls around San Francisco. This place I went to has wonton soup under $10 . They also have a variety of Cantonese dishes all in the heart of Chinatown in San Francisco. On a November almost at the end of San Francisco Summer and Autumn month stroll in Chinatown I was fortunate to find Fortune Restaurant. Inside Fortune Restaurant there are a few tables. Here you will receive tea without paying for it unlike some places in SF. There is no gimmicks no long history story behind the restaurant. It's barebones minimum decor but the food tastes like you paid a small fortune and got a bargain basement deal for the food. I got the wonton soup and it was flavorful. It was soup for the soul on a day which is at the cusp of being a rainy day in the city. I then got the scrambled egg shrimp rice. It was delicious and savory and the shrimp was okay and complemented the wonton soup. It's one of the best places to grab comfort Cantonese food in San Francisco which will save a new fortune by going to New Fortune Restaurant on Stockton street. Come get food that is "Chinese"its made in the style of the region in China that's "Cantonese"a place you will get free cups of "hot teas "a good place to enjoy different tasty plates at New Fortune but here you will save some money also known as "cheese" It's located at 815 Stockton in San Francisco if you never "gone" you find a a new fortune here just get the soup "wonton" and here they only have shrimp which is okay and other meats but they don't have "prawn" this another recommendation from the San Francisco native "Don Juan"

You can honestly throw a dart in Chinatown randomly and it'll always land at a delicious place. As always, I have resorted to utilizing Yelp to ease my stress choice overload, which this place popped up. The salt and pepper pork (popular Yelp order) was very flavorful and tender with a very nice crispy outer layer. The beef pan fried noodles was tasty as well, with a duality of crunchy and al dente. Beef was tender and the bok choy was a nice complimentary ingredient, although it could use more bok choy. As always, and important, I love it when noodle portions are abundant. The front door server was friendly and nice. I also noticed a sense of community in this lowkey small business, assuming some patrons are regulars, and that is a good sign for a business to thrive.

Small business with reasonable prices located in Chinatown that opens slightly later compared to others! I ordered the beef chow fun to go, and although it looked so good, flavorful and dark, i was disappointed. The meat was tender and soft but the noodles lacked flavor. It did not have the typical rich soy sauce flavor. The restaurant is small, but the server was really sweet. Hoping it was an off day, and i would try giving their other menus a try.

Honestly, really enjoyed both items I picked up! Got the beef chow fun and seafood pan fried noodles! Really solid portion for both items plus easy order and pick up experience! You know the spot is bouta shmackk when the OGs are huddling over a kettle of tea! Will surely be back! Service and ambiance was decent too!!

We ordered takeout from this place for a family-style dinner at home with friends. The food overall was yummy and very affordable! Pickup was smooth as well. Sweet and sour chicken - 5/5 Chicken chow mein - 5/5 Garlic beans - 3/5 Chicken fried rice -3/5 Beef and broccoli - 4/5 Curry chicken - 4/5

Wonton egg noodle soup ($9) is my go to here, add a little bit of white pepper to make it yummier! The restaurant makes good use of the tiny space and sharing tables is pretty common. One server taking all the orders from phone to in person, so at times you might need to walk up to the counter to order. Weekend can get quite busy, order 3 items: black pepper beef with rice ($12), wonton noodle soup ($9), and wonton rice noodle soup ($9), waited about 30 minutes. You get 8 wonton in your soup, they do not skimp out on at all. The wonton had plenty of filling and was flavorful. Not too salty either. The rice plate is a great size, super flavorful, not too oily for the protein as well. Great prices with options for everyone!

I find myself coming for lunch more often not because the food is good but the kitchen actually listens when i ask for low salt & less oil. Everywhere i go i ask for the same thing but they give me lip service, but not here, New Fortune honors my request and i appreciate that. This is a popular restaurant even on the weekdays so be prepared to wait for tables if you come during the lunch time rush.

Generous portions. Bring cash if you're buying something less than $20 or order something worth $20 because that's their minimum for credit cards. I got the HK noodles with pork chops for $13 (w/tax) and was not able to finish it for lunch and had to finish for dinner. Totally worth it. It's definitely for sharing and absolutely delicious typical hole in the wall Chinese fast food.

Found this small local business and wanted to give it a try. Honestly, the food was tasty. The soup with pepper had great flavor and just the right amount of heat. The service was very friendly, and they offered free hot tea, which was perfect for the cold weather outside. A cozy and welcoming spot with comforting food. Definitely worth a visit.

This was a nice little restaurant to drop by on a random Saturday. They were pretty busy in general with a lot of local customers. The patrons there were all pretty nice as well. Also expect to wait a bit for your food since I believe there's only one chef and one wait staff working there. But I do believe it is definitely worth the wait. The food was good and authentic. The portions are pretty large as well. It came out to be about $21 a person with enough food left over for maybe another meal or two, If I was ever back in Chinatown and had lots of spare time, then I would probably drop by this little restaurant again.

UGH I LOVE CANTONESE FOOD…read more we waited in line before opening at 5pm on a saturday and was able to sit within 90 minutes! wait this was my first time trying escargot and why did it taste so good...if i had to describe it it tasted like clams which i did not expect. the xo sauce was amazing with it. the milk bread that came with it was so fluffy and soft too lapmei bo zai fan was so good too i love the soy sauce they used. the lap yuk was a little fatty but the lap cheong was perfect. so much fan ziu too the fried squab lowkeyy tasted like hot dog tbh LOL i like siu ap a lot more. also just get the small squab (it's $10 cheaper and the waitress said she can't rly tell the size diff) there wasn't really that much meat tho... and then guys u cannot skip the red bean shaved ice oh my god. i didn't even know there was gonna be boba and ice cream inside but this was sooo good. i loveeee red bean the complimentary cucumber and peanuts were yum too a very nicely decorated interior and our waitress was so sweet!

Once they opened the doors we were seated immediately so the strategy paid off. The menu looked incredible across the board so we went in and tried almost everything. We ordered a ton for 2 people and had a lot to bring home. Here's the breakdown: Order these: Squab Liver Skewers: Rich and packed with flavor, a great way to start. I dont even like liver, but this was good! Typhoon Shelter Soft Shell Crab: Really well executed, would order again without hesitation. Salt and Pepper Tiger Prawns: Simple but done perfectly. Singaporean Chili Crab with Fried Milkbread: Delicious but one note here. The bread is a bit much and doesn't add a ton to the dish. This would be even better served over noodles to soak up all that chili crab sauce. HK Black Pepper Steak: So juicy and flavorful. One of the standouts of the night. XO Escargot with Milkbread: Another winner. Beef Chow Fun Noodles: Genuinely the best chow fun I've ever had. Do not skip this one. Mapo Spaghetti with Beef: A fun and unexpected combination that really works. Salt and pepper squid skewers: Packed with protein. Super flavorful! Yuzu Sake: The perfect drink pairing for this menu. Skip these: Chong Qing Fried Hawt Rabbit and Peruvian Chicken Fried Rice were the two misses of the night. Save your stomach space for everything else. The flavors here are exceptional and the service matched it perfectly. Will absolutely be back and already trying to figure out how to snag a reservation next time!

Stopped by Palette Tea House with The Kid after FoodieLand thinking we were just coming for tea... and ended up having a full experience. We sat at the communal high-top table in the center of the restaurant, which has a small pond built into it with little goldfish and even a tiny rubber duck sitting on the rock formation -- such a cute detail and definitely adds to the ambiance. Our server Ken was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Iron Goddess tea, which ended up being excellent. The Kid ordered the Milk Aroma Oolong, which surprisingly tasted almost like milk tea even though it's just brewed tea. Each tea comes with its own kettle, and Ken even came back to refill the hot water for us. For food, we ordered the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice, which was a huge portion and easily shareable. Very flavorful and well prepared. We also tried the Sichuan Seafood Dumplings and the Iberico Pork Dumplings, both of which were delicious. One order is definitely enough to share. The dumplings come with several dipping sauces including soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, hot mustard, and a cilantro-based sauce that had a slightly sweet, horseradish-like flavor that really stood out. Service throughout the meal was amazing. Even without a reservation, we were seated immediately. As a Michelin-recognized restaurant for 2025, it definitely felt like a special treat and lived up to the experience.

A really busy place so be prepared to wait for your table, Sometimes they have to cut off the line at night so they can close off their business, so don't cut it close! Recommendations to order: Yin Yan (M2) - a Hong Kong special of milk tea mixed with coffee. Nothing get more HKish than this. Wonton Noodles (E1) - this is Cantonese style wonton, with really thin wrappers, along with thin egg noodles that has a firm and toothsome texture. Curry Beef with Rice (G12) - Just like back in Hong Kong! The beef tendon in there is so melty good! You can order the curry beef with noodles too but rice is better to soak up all the curry sauce. Hokkien Fried Rice (G10) - a luscious gravy on top of a fried rice filled with seafood and meat. You'll lick the bowl clean Rice Rolls (B) - their rice rolls are pretty solid too, smooth and slurpy. Just do yourself a flavor, don't order the Xiao Lung Bao Soup Dumplings here. It's not Cantonese, and there are definitely better places to get them. So just focus on Cantonese food here, that's what they excel at.
