    Menu - April 2026

COVID has decimated the SF financial district and adjacent areas. This once vibrant restaurant is a shell of its former self. The menu is less extensive than the pre COVID version and some listed items were not even available at 11:30am which is a disappointment (no chicken feet). The staff speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and English but mostly English in catering to the weekday lunch crowd. Ladies still push steamer carts, and fried item & dessert carts around the restaurant for you to point out. If not on the specific cart, just ask the ladies and they'll have someone retrieve it for you. We had Home Sei Gok, Siu Mai, Gai Lan, two types of Steamed Dumplings and Orange Jello for dessert. The best item was the Fried Meat Rice Dumpling. I ordered the Orange Jello hoping for a orange jello version that would duplicate the 1960's orange pie from Sun Wah Ku restaurant on Washington in SF Chinatown. No luck in the duplication..... Service was good, I think they have more items available on the weekends and possibly seating out into the central atrium (at least they used to). The atrium does not have the waterfall from the skylight any more...darn! Overall, expensive and limited menu on weekdays.

Nice cart style dim sum spot. It was empty at 11:00am on a Friday. We got a bunch of items from the carts, but there are a few dishes you have to order directly from the server so we did that as well. We got: - Shrimp dumpling - $9.50 - Pork & shrimp siu mai - $9.50 - Shanghai kurobuta pork dumpling (XLB) - $16.00 - Sauteed string beans with dried shrimp - $12.50 - Sweet rice dumpling - $7.50 - Turnip cake - $9.00 - Crab claw - $15.50 - Beancurd roll - $7.50 - Egg custard tart - $15.00 My favorite was the fried sweet rice dumpling. The turnip cake and sauteed string beans were good as well. I didn't love the XLB because the skin was a bit thick. The pu erh tea was great, and the servers helped refill the pot once we finished the first one. The inside is clean with a nice ambiance. Service was friendly & efficient.

Yang Sing was just okay in my opinion. Definitely better options out there. Their dinning room is pretty small but they have outdoor seating. Some dishes you have to order from the server but most things are pushed around in the carts. They have a very slimmed down menu when compared to other dim sum restaurants. My favorites were the Shrimp Dumplings and Kurobuta Pork Dumplings. Both were flavorful and decently sized. They hyped up the fried rice but it was just okay.

Situated in the heart of SF. Came here to meet up with a friend of mine. A few parking options around. Space is small. But it is one of the rare spaces still offering the traditional dim sum cart. Food was okay. Service was quick and friendly. I personally prefer dim sum with thinner wrapper. Flavor was good and fresh. Just personal preference. Overall, a good option for people working close by.

tldr bad food, but clean store with friendly english speaking staff. My friend picked a restaurant for 8 of us to grab lunch before a wedding. Initial impression was good. Wait staff all spoke english and were polite, atypical for a dim sum restaurant. Place was super clean as well. We were seated outdoor, the floor was slanted and the tables were all pieced together, a little awkward. However, once the food came out that's when the disappointment started. To start, most of the food that came out was cold. The siu mai was very representative of the whole meal: cold, hard, tasteless. See attached picture for reference. Pork ribs is usually my favorite but the pork was hard and the sauce was gooey. Overall, don't come here for good food. However, service and seating for 8 allowed for to have lunch without waiting for hours.

Pretty decent dim sum place, very traditional with the carts going around. I did like the chicken feet and the veggie dumplings, though I do think they could have done a better job with everything else. The service was just OK. Definitely a super busy place for a weekday lunch. Lots of people there, the environment is relatively on the smaller side.

After attending the Sunday mass at the St Patrick Church today, my family celebrated the early Happy New Year at Yank Sing. Since I retired, I had not dined again at this restaurant. We didn't have the reservation. We walked in & were directed outdoor which was fine. They turned on the heater above us. For drink, we ordered the Jasmine tea. We ordered the shrimp wonton soup & Yank Sing fried rice. The server arrived with the dimsum cart. We got the chicken mushroom dumplings, shrimp & chives dumplings, seafood basil dumplings, pork & siu mye, beancurd rolls, steamed spareribs, XLB, chilled Chinese broccoli, chicken feet, and sesame balls for dessert. They have clean dining room. The service was efficient. The food was tasty but small portions for what you get prices are steep. If I am in the area only, I can consider to dine here again.

I stopped by Yank Sing for a solo lunch before heading to the airport. The building is beautiful and the staff was attentive and accommodating of having my luggage in tow. They've got the carts, and if you don't see what you want they've got a menu you can order from or you can ask and they'll say "next cart." I got my go-tos: tea, har gow, shu mai, sesame balls, and steamed bbq pork bun (baked is weekend only). I also got their XLB which I don't normally get but they said it was their "signature" - I would pass on that next time for both taste and price ($16). For one, it was $70 before tip! Seems pricey for five food items plus tea.

Great dim sum place: 1) Waited about twenty minutes for a table for four people outside, the Friday after Thanksgiving, around noon. 2) The outdoor seating has plenty of heat lamps, so it feels nice and warm but there's also good air circulation. 3) They still have carts! I love the carts! Not many dim sum places push the old school carts around anymore. It's super fun to choose what you want to eat by sight, and they come around as soon as you sit down. There's two steamed carts and two fried food / dessert carts. 4) My favorite must-haves are are Stuffed Lotus Leaf, Turnip Cake, Steamed BBQ Pork Bun. I would definitely order the crispy tofu and beancurd roll again. I would order the steamed spareribs, chicken spring roll, and eggplant in hunan sauce if I was really craving it. The crispy tofu has a super fragrant great green onion / garlic mix. 5) Next time, I would like to try the pork dumpling, salt and pepper pork, string beans, scallion cake. 6) The Jasmine tea was good! Good flavors. Jialu

This is by far one of my favorite dumpling restaurants in the entire city, especially if you are a vegetarian! They have a tone of delicious options, the mushroom was definitely my favorite! The service is always incredible, they are constantly walking around with a dumpling cart. The restaurant is a little tight inside but you still have plenty of room at your table. Highly recommend this spot the next time you are craving dim sum!

We were visiting SF and hadn't been to Yank Sing in ages. We arrived Sunday morning shortly after 11 am and we were seated outside immediately. I didn't realize they took reservations so next time I'll be sure to make one. We didn't mind as it was cool and nice outside. We enjoyed all the usual items. Xiao Long Bao, Shu Mai, Har Gow, Mushroom dumplings & shrimp dumplings, shrimp and scallop dumplings, BBQ Pork Bao buns and my all time favorite Chinese Brocolli. Services was friendly and prompt and everything was so tasty. Good to back!

I liked that they had a small squab option which was perfect for two people. The meal started with complimentary cucumbers and peanuts snacks perfect paired with a drink. Everything was delicious but if I pick a favorite, I think it would be the eggplant. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. It's a small restaurant so I would probably only come with 2-4 people. I noticed all these dishes were quite small, maybe they work better with larger parties where you only get 1-2 bites each. I came with a party of two without a reservation about 10 minutes before opening on a Saturday night and we were able to be seated in the first wave. The spicy pig head was doused in chili oil and topped with lightly dressed greens. This was delicious at the first bite but the pool of chili oil made it hard to continue. The scallop vermicelli was also so delicious - vermicelli had a great bounce and the flavors were well balanced. Definitely heavy on the butter, which made it yummy at first but again, hard to continue. Sausage and bacon clay pot was great at first with the tong ho really balancing the umami of the fermented meats. However, the rice itself was too saucy for me, and the clay pot didn't produce the scorched rice I love in clay pot rice. The XO escargot and milkbread was also very great at first but sat in a pool of oil as well. I really wanted to rate this higher because I loved the aesthetics, the first bites, and the service, but considering the price and oiliness, my overall experience fell a bit flat.

There will be a little bit of a wait if you come at lunchtime, but the changing of tables is so quick, it's worth the wait. My table got many items to try out, including a number of dumplings and main dishes. We have no complaints! The servers were on top of their game, and every time a menu item was brought out, they would cross it out at the table, to ensure all our food was brought out. Each dish came out piping hot (especially the dumpling and wontons), and my favorite main dish was definitely the Braised Seafood + Tofu in Clay Pot. Pair that with some rice and your set. This place was such a vibe! Totally recommend; all our food came out quick --- everything was made-to-order, and they got nothing wrong. 10 out of 10!

This person who took our order asked if there were any allergies, I said soy and her eyes lit up while she calming asked, 'soy-sauce', and I list soysauce and all the soy things that fall in that umbrella. I order my item, the chicken wings and item to share: the pan-fried dumplings, while my partner ordered one of the noodle soups. She comes back later and points out that the noodle soup has soy - much apperciated because people sometimes share, etc. And I said it was just for my partner. -- The chicken wings were plump, crispy, the first two were 'heathly', didn't taste the salt, and the rest were packed with flavor. If you're looking for consistency there is a #1 spot in Chinatown for chicken wings which I will not disclose in this review. But, otherwise, for flavor - I like it here. My partner said he didn't find the ones here oily but I said the bottom ones were a little and I did enjoy it. The panfried dumplings - the meat was succulent and delicious, I didn't think there was enough soup, these ones are smaller than other places, but the meat is massive. They were good, not my favorite ever, but I think the meat was the best hands-down anywhere. - It was very busy with perhaps locals and tourists. The table on our left were these two white men in the architeture field - super vulgar and sexist talking about people they don't like, it would defintely be an HR red flag. And then to the corner on the right, there was this little family who hadn't had soup dumplings before - the grown kids ate with their hands and the parents with forks (I love to see people trying new things), I didn't see all of this going on but I asked my partner who kept looking over.. Yes, my partner was judging you but kudos to trying new things however it is. - For large parties - you'll have to wait awhile. QR waitlist kiosk thing in at the front. ** I truly apperciate food safety and staff being attentive which makes patrons more confident and are able to make more safely informed decisions when ordering.

If you don't know what to get, there's a sign outside the door when you hit the front of the line that lists the top menu items. We got an order (each) of the shrimp, chive dumplings. And the baked pork buns were absolutely worth the wait. Don't be afraid to get one too many, as you can take it home and reheat. And by the way, we arrived during lunch time. (Service 1/5) The buns (5/5) were very tasty, light and full of meat. Definitely will keep this one on our radar when the kids come for a visit.
