In town for a work conference and my Airbnb motel was just across the street. Yelp reviews were legit so I walked over to grab a solo dinner to go. They were just launching their kiosk orders and I was directed to use that for ordering and ask for help if needed. I chose soup dumplings and garlic noodles. I wasn't prompted about any additional sauces for dipping and I wish I had been offered them or have them as an option in the kiosk. It was ready pretty quickly and the fast walk "home " was perfect because I was super excited to dig in! Noodles were a little dry and I wish there was more sauce or some soup sauce or something but the actual flavors were well balanced and satisfying. I wish I would have sat in the restaurant instead of taking it to go. I feel like the location really adds to the ambience and it would've been fun to people watch through the windows.

I love that the restaurant remaining in the family from back when it was Sun Hong Kong. We had many great memories and frequent there for the live seafood decades ago. Simon said they are considering bringing back the fresh seafood option which I would vote for since that what I used to eat even at midnight snack back then. Overall, friendly services , clean and lively ambiance. up coming young chefs upholding a long time family business with a modern twist but still authentic is a great way to keep the Sun Hong Kong legacy for old timer like myself continue to come back and support.

We stopped in 606 late on a Friday night, it had a que and iPad to text to put name and number down. We were able to get seated prior to closing, and the place is clean, large, and modern. Overall our group of 4 wasn't so happy with the food, in particular absolutely skip the BBQ baby back ribs. Not only is the portion small, but it's practically no meat and all cartilage and bone. I had a really tough time chewing any of it, and getting any meat from it. Besides that we got a standard kung pao chicken and chow mein that were both good, but small portions if sharing.

I'd say this rating is between a 3.5 and 4 star. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and got seated right away. It's right on the edge of Chinatown and little Italy, a short walk away from the Portsmouth parking garage. The servers were pretty nice and recommended a few dishes to us. We loved the milk tea we ordered, it was just the right sweetness while being very rich in flavor. We ordered the beef chow fun, crispy combination chow mein, sichuan green beans and Simon's garlic chicken. Everything was pretty good, but the beef chow fun needed a bit more wok hei and the chicken and green beans were pretty small portions for the price. The Simon's garlic chicken was basically just a sesame chicken, I can see why people new to Chinese food would like it, but was mostly pieces of fried coating. Our favorite was definitely the crispy chow mein, which had lots of meat and good flavor. Overall, I'd probably recommend other spots in Chinatown for authentic Cantonese fare, but this place was clean and good in a pinch.

Delicious food, their milk tea is a must try. We ordered the Dry Pan-Fried Beef Ho Fun, and the taste was surprisingly close to what you'd find in Hong Kong. Unlike many other Chinese restaurants, it didn't have that heavy MSG flavor or the greasy taste of reused oil. Definitely one of the better versions I've had in the Bay Area!

Wanted to avoid the ritual of going to North Beach and get Italian and getting a pastry somewhere. Decided on China Town went to Yelp to find a place and here we are. Ambiance Very modern restaurant very clean. Customer Service Host asked us if we had reservation and we did not, we were seated shortly, thank u. We had a male server but got switched halfway thru service. He was very polite and suggested garlic chicken or salt and pepper fish, he was right. Salt and Pepper Fish Did not look like much however this fish was breaded and cooked perfectly. Fish was moist and so much flavor. 606 House Fried My wife loved it. I liked it alot. Will return to try the garlic chicken next time.

I'm not one to choose American Chinese food but yes to Hong Kong /cantonese cuisine. We had mostly vegetarian dishes for our friend. I really enjoyed the quality of the food here. The 19$ fried tofu with string beans was crunchy on the outside and soft & airy on the inside; it was addictive. The 19$ signature chow mein was not oily and the vegetables are fresh. The 10$ veg potstickers were perfect. The 7$ Hong Kong milk tea had a whole ice cube made of the milk tea, I do think it needs a bit more condensed milk as it lacked that sweetness. Everything was great as we were seated next to a window and it was just great weather outside. The servers and owner checked up on us, making sure everything's good. I do wish to try the Hong Kong dishes next time :)

First time visiting Chinatown in San Fran and while doing a little research this restaurant popped up. It had a modern interior and a wide selection to choose from. I enjoyed my vegetarian chow mien and my husband had the Mongolian beef. Very flavorful. And super attentive service .

We had a pleasant experience here the other night. The service was very good. The ambiance was very nice. I liked the set up of the dining room and the chairs overall it was 3.5 stars but im being nice& rounding up. The food was not bad at all, in fact we both thought it was decent but nothing about it stood out in anyway to me personally. It was lacking depth of flavor so I aksed for soy sauce and chili oil which they did bring out. Every dish was good but the food was not coursed, cramming all 4 dishes on the table at once. The chowmein was bland and noodle to veg ratio was off.Good but nothing spectacular.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in SF, located on Broadway at the intersection of Chinatown and North Beach. If you're a longtime SF resident, 606 is ran by the sons of the owners of the legendary New Sun Hong Kong. We love coming here for dim sum, lunch and dinner - even my parents love this place! Here are my favorite dishes: 1. Crispy Noodles Hong Kong style with combo BBQ pork, seafood and chicken 2. Sweet & sour pork ribs 3. Honey walnut prawns The food hits the spot, the service is amazing and the location is perfect for a post meal gelato (try Lush Gelato just up the street) and/or night cap (I love going to Comstock Saloon) 606 is such a gem and definitely gets 5 s for SAFAV: Service Ambiance Food Alcohol Value for Money

My friend said people raving about their milk tea. Being a milk tea enthusiast, I had to try it. Verdict? It's legit!!! To truly taste of if a milk tea is good, you have to taste the hot one and it's not as hot as I hope for, butt the smell and flavor is there. Beef chow fun - For authentic HK style cuisine, sweet and sour pork and beef chow fun is the standard test. Verdict? I liked it! It's got wok air (鑊氣), flavor is good and the One thing I like is the chow fun is not oily. That's skill and a big plus. Their hot sauce goes really well with the chow fun. Personally, I preferred the onion to be well done so it emits the sweetness into the chow fun and the beef. Simon's garlic chicken - Not what I expected. The garlic sauce is not the common 魚香醬, pretty good actually. What I liked about it is the crispiness of the chicken with the light batter. Sauce not too overwhelming. Now I'm curious what the sesame chicken is like. It's too bad this is not located in the south bay like Los Altos, Cupertino, Sunnyvale. Would have been a big hit. It's slightly out of place with China Town crowd.

This really is the best American Chinese food in San Francisco, and I've tried so many. You really can't go wrong here, they cook everything fresh, use great ingredients, clean oil, and it has amazing customer service and such a nice atmosphere. It's casual but clean, modern, and so well done. Perfect for bringing kids. We love the Simon's garlic, chicken, salt and pepper, tofu, fish with bok choy, chow fun, and especially the honey walnut prawns. The owners of the restaurant are here pretty much every day, and make sure the restaurant is run incredibly well. This is such an under the radar gem of San Francisco, we love coming.

Iconic Hong Kong Style cafe located in SF's Chinatown- 606 delivered on bold flavor, service and fresh Cantonese food. The vibe of the restaurant is relatively upscale- with an extremely professional staff. I got the pork dumplings and the sesame chicken. Wow- every note was electrically flavorful! The pork dumplings were tender, comforting and savory. The chicken itself was garlicky, crispy and warm with the white rice complimenting the entree well. I can see why 606 is a classic, fun vibe with authentic food.

While we were waiting for our table, we saw 2-3 couples get turned away. The restaurant is small, but the interior is well-decorated. It pays homage to HK posters, music, and culture. They offer two complimentary small bites of smashed cucumber and peanuts. - XO Escargot: a must order, the dish only comes with 6 pieces but it's so worth it. The sauce is garlicky, buttery, and each bite with the milk bread is so good. The bread also has a crispy outer layer while the inside is super soft. - Eggplant: at first, we thought the dish was good, but the pieces on the bottom that soaks up all the sauce makes the eggplant full of umami flavor. This paired so good with rice. - Mapo Tofu Spaghetti: just as you imagine, but very yummy. I wish there was more of a numbing spice personally! - Black Pepper Steak: The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare and the sauce was very yummy. This dish did not blow me away like some of the others but was still good nonetheless. I really wished we could have try the Singapore Chili Crab, but that would have been too much food. Our server was also fantastic and so kind, I wish I caught her name. Will def be back!

Nostalgic interior with posters of Canto celebrities on the walls and Chinese pop music playing in the background, but not to point where it was drowning out conversation. We had the fried rabbit (limited quantities), green beans, the claypot with Chinese sausage and bacon, the chili crisp pig head, escargot with XO sauce and milkbread, the fish fragrant eggplant (aptly named), the fried squab, the HK black pepper steak, and the abalone special over vermicelli. For dessert, we had the mango pudding, red bean shaved ice with culde de leche , and the huckleberry silken tofu. Like I said, we came hungry. We did struggle to figure out how to go about splitting the abalone over vermicelli amongst our group since everything was piled on a small abalone shell and not enough abalone to go around for everyone. The HK black pepper steak was very good and cooked perfectly medium rare, but wasn't a fan of the raw onions that accompanied it. Everything else was scrumptious! My parents would most definitely gawk at how much we spent on our meal, but I think overall it was worthwhile and I'm glad we got to try it.

Excellent dim sum spot!! Yes, it's definitely pricey, but everything from the food to the service…read moreand ambiance was fantastic. We ordered 8 items and everything was top quality, but my favorites were: - Ribeye XO "Dan Dan" mein with sesame sauce - Berkshire pork Shanghai soup dumplings (XLB) - Crispy shrimp & meat tofu skin roll It's a small restaurant and was super busy when we went around 11:40am on a Sunday, but luckily we were seated immediately when we walked in. Service was very friendly and efficient. Our server also helped refill our teapot with hot water when we finished the first pot. I really enjoyed the meal here and will definitely be back to try the dinner menu next time!

I was able to get a walk-in table for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is pretty small,…read moreand the service was great. I will say, the restaurant felt a bit... drab. There was no music playing and it felt like everyone was whispering at their tables because it felt weird to talk at a normal volume. The interior design also does not match the quality/price of the food - I really think this place could use a redesign and new paint job... Anyway, the food overall was good, but definitely on the pricey side. We got two items off the seasonal menu - a spicy shrimp wonton starter, and the country fried rice. The wontons were good, but not spicy, and the fried rice was really good. It definitely could have used some chili oil on top, but was still good as it was served. The food also came out pretty quickly and was a great temperature. We also got the spicy string beans. They were alright, but not much better than any other dim sum restaurant's. Our total after tax & tip was about $100 for two people, with just two starters, one main dish, and a single beer. This definitely feels high for the quality/quantity of the food, but the great service helps makes up for this. I would say if this place got a redesign and lowered the prices a bit, it would be booked up every day.
