Pretty busy during lunch hours but they do a good job at flipping tables so even with a lot of people you aren't waiting for too long. We got the salted fish fried rice, the salted egg yolk pumpkin shrimp dish and the shanghai pan-fried soup dumplings. The milk teas tasted like the classic hong kong milk teas, they are also not too sweet but more condensed milk can be added. Dishes were good, the salted egg yolk was delicious, the pumpkin was soft and the shrimp was fresh and chewy, and it went well with the fried rice. The shanghai pan-fried soup dumplings came out piping hot, I burnt my tongue a little trying to eat it fresh. It was crispy on the outside with super flavorful and delicious filling inside filled with heaty soup.

Very cute HK style cafe with the best soup dumplings! Stopped by on a Tuesday at 1300 and it was packed, which is a good sign! We ordered the HK style milk tea which wasn't the best. It had its signature flavor but felt watered down. I would pass on it or give it another try. Loved the tea eggs ! It's very hard to find a place that does it right. You can tell that the eggs were marinated enough by the color and perfectly salted. If I lived around here, I would get this all the time for breakfast! The congee itself was very good, nice flavor and the rice was cooked perfectly. The pork liver was definitely overcooked and dry, I would skip the liver and go for something else. The wontons and soup dumplings were so good! 5/5 I love that they don't mince the shrimp, instead they cut it half which gives each bite the perfect texture. The soup was made very well- nice and light. Favorite part was the soup dumplings. I'd dare say, these taste better than Din Tai Fung in SJ. 6 pieces instead of 10 but the size of these dumplings were massive. I was afraid they would be dry but that wasn't the case at all! Every bite had hot soup spilling out it and the soup was amazing! It had just the right amount of salt. They give you a side of vinegar which adds a tang to it ! This is a must get !!

casual and spacious hong kong style restaurant in chinatown, they serve up delicious and authentic wonton noodles. it's simple but comforting. I loved the chicken and mushroom dumplings, and sauteed green beans too! the dessert was ok, the coconut jellies are pre-made/bought and refrigerated

My husband and I both found it to be okay. We got combination fried rice, pork & shrimp dumplings, and the beef brisket noodle soup. Nothing was very well seasoned. Not sure if this was an off day because the place was packed so clearly others like it. Service was a well oiled machine. We put our name on the waitlist with the tablet and got seated within 15min. Food came out quickly. Parking: street parking throughout Chinatown.

This is the kind of restaurant where you need to go in knowing what's good here, so let me break it down. Get: - house special wonton noodle soup - any wonton noodle soup but try the house special first - pan fried pork dumplings; watch your tongue, it's HOT - curry beef stew - spicy wontons (appetizer); the sauce slaps Pass on the hot and sour soup, it's neither hot nor sour here. I'll report back when I've tried more of the menu but if you somehow need to order more than what I've listed above on your first visit, you're built different from me. Try to come for an earlier lunch, like before 12:30pm, because a line tends to build up outside. There's a tablet for you to join the waitlist when you enter the restaurant, make sure to join the waitlist!! If you're a solo diner (or even a party of 2), they may ask if you're willing to skip the line by sharing a table. Communal dining is fun, say yes! The inside is clean and spacious, but very noisy and hectic-feeling with waitstaff rushing about.

Finally made it to Hon's Wun-Tun House in Chinatown. This is their 2nd location. The original is on Kearny. The interior is modern. The restaurant is cozy but has space. It can accommodate a couple of large parties of 8+ people. Two separate unisex restrooms. Corn & Mushroom with Chicken Dumplings: delicate Dumplings filled with chicken, corn, & mushrooms (4/5). Served with dipping sauce. The dumplings were flavorful. Signature Wun-ton Noodle Soup: delicate shrimp and pork Dumplings and thin noodles in light broth (4/5). The broth had the lightest hint of dried scallops to me. Support your local business.

Delicious Cantonese food my Cantonese family enjoyed! We came around 4:30 pm on a Sunday and joined the waitlist as they were pretty busy but only waited about 10 mins to be seated. Interior is pretty spacious and modern with a good amount of tables. We shared 4 dishes among 4 people and were full. Service was pretty quick. Portions are good though prices are on the higher end. -Wonton noodle soup (4.5/5): delicious! savory and juicy wontons, thin and chewy noodles, light and comforting broth -Seafood pan fried noodle (5/5): so good, one of the best pan fried noodles I've had! The sauce was nicely savory without being too salty or bland. Came with a variety of seafood -Salt & pepper pork spareribs (3.5/5): nicely seasoned and crispy though the spareribs were either too bony or fatty so there wasn't much meat

Came here to try the wonton noodles but everything was delicious! Added ourselves to the waitlist for an early dinner on Sunday around 4:30PM and they were pretty busy, though we only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Ordered 4 dishes for 4 people and we were satisfied. Portions and prices are decent, service was good and they checked on us often Wonton noodle soup (4.5/5): wontons were plump and fresh, noodles were soft and thin. Broth was tasty, light and clear Seafood pan fried noodle (5/5): one of the best pan fried noodles I've ever had! Perfectly savory, neither bland nor salty, and lots of seafood! Salt and pepper pork spare ribs (3.5/5): nicely seasoned, but the spare ribs were either too bony or fatty so there wasn't much actual meat

Food was ok the broth was a little too salty for me. My server had a hard time understanding me, it is a good thing that the other server was able to help me. I asked for plum sauce and they gave me a very small amount from a bottle that was in their fridge that looked really old. The place was pretty busy. It looked like they are regulars. The place was clean and the restroom was clean too.

Reliably good restaurant in Chinatown with lots of hearty Canto style food. Never my stomach feels a bit upset. I always get the preserved egg porridge soup as well as some other dishes, like the wonton noodle soup. I also really like the clay pot with the fish and tofu in it -- very flavorful delicious roasted garlic pieces spread throughout. The beef chow fun is also very tasty perfectly tender and flavorful without being overly oily. Overall, it's a pretty busy restaurant but also has a lot of seating so you never have to wait too long. The service is pretty efficient and I look forward to coming here again soon!

With plenty of restaurants trying to get you thru the door in Chinatown, I was so happy to try out Hon's Wun-Tun House! There will be a little bit of a wait if you come at lunchtime, but the changing of tables is so quick, it's worth the wait. My table got many items to try out, including a number of dumplings and main dishes. We have no complaints! The servers were on top of their game, and every time a menu item was brought out, they would cross it out at the table, to ensure all our food was brought out. Each dish came out piping hot (especially the dumpling and wontons), and my favorite main dish was definitely the Braised Seafood + Tofu in Clay Pot. Pair that with some rice and your set. This place was such a vibe! Totally recommend; all our food came out quick --- everything was made-to-order, and they got nothing wrong. 10 out of 10!

    Fried dumpling time- cheers!

My husband and I visited Chinatown on a weekday morning. It wasn't too far of a walk from Union Square and it was a beautiful, calm and sunny day. Shops were starting to open up and we stumbled upon Hon's Wun-Tun House. We originally wanted to go to a different dumpling house but that one was closed at the time. As we peered into Hon's storefront window, we saw employees already busy making dumplings around 9am. We decided to give it a try and we were so happy we did! The servers were quick to seat us, give us water and take our orders using their tablets. We ordered the pan fried dumplings and the scallion pancakes. Everything was delicious! The dumplings had a good amount of filling and were hot and fresh. The scallion pancakes had plenty of scallions which I appreciated. I mean it wouldn't be scallion pancakes without the ample amount of scallions, right?! Lots of customers were having breakfast and I noticed many people ordered congee, so it must be one of their best sellers. Our bellies were satisfied and we were out of there in under 30 minutes. Bill came out to be about $23 after taxes and before tip. This place is great for a group of friends or families to sit down and have a meal while visiting Chinatown. The front of the restaurant has a kiosk to place orders as well (not sure if it's only for take-out orders). It's definitely a restaurant I would go back to when we are in the area again.

Love the beef and scallion and the braised seafood with tofu. Both tasted like authentic Cantonese style food I grew up eating in restaurants. With a white bowl of rice, this completes any dinner meal. I like the bitter melon as well, but I know it's not for everyone. My mother used to tell me, what usually taste bad is good for you (doesn't always apply to everything).- I just learned to embrace it. I thought the bitter melon was a bit overcooked and not as crunchy but overall it was decent

We didn't want to order too much, so we only got the beef hor fun and green onion pancakes. The pancakes were so good! Nice and chewy on the inside and crunch on the outside. The chow fun I had really high hopes for. My memories as a child having had chow fun all the time, had this distinct taste to it and made a certain way. Their chow fun was good, but I think it was lacking a little flavor? I also wish they used the wider noodles instead of these thinner ones. :( It wasn't bad at all, I just had a certain expectation. So far, there's only one place that is reminiscent of what I remember and it's in Sacramento. That being said, we will still come back because I would love to try the Simon's garlic chicken and more of the pancakes!

We ordered 8 items and everything was top quality, but my favorites were: - Ribeye XO "Dan Dan" mein with sesame sauce - Berkshire pork Shanghai soup dumplings (XLB) - Crispy shrimp & meat tofu skin roll It's a small restaurant and was super busy when we went around 11:40am on a Sunday, but luckily we were seated immediately when we walked in. Service was very friendly and efficient. Our server also helped refill our teapot with hot water when we finished the first pot. I really enjoyed the meal here and will definitely be back to try the dinner menu next time!

I was able to get a walk-in table for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is pretty small,…read moreand the service was great. I will say, the restaurant felt a bit... drab. There was no music playing and it felt like everyone was whispering at their tables because it felt weird to talk at a normal volume. The interior design also does not match the quality/price of the food - I really think this place could use a redesign and new paint job... Anyway, the food overall was good, but definitely on the pricey side. We got two items off the seasonal menu - a spicy shrimp wonton starter, and the country fried rice. The wontons were good, but not spicy, and the fried rice was really good. It definitely could have used some chili oil on top, but was still good as it was served. The food also came out pretty quickly and was a great temperature. We also got the spicy string beans. They were alright, but not much better than any other dim sum restaurant's. Our total after tax & tip was about $100 for two people, with just two starters, one main dish, and a single beer. This definitely feels high for the quality/quantity of the food, but the great service helps makes up for this. I would say if this place got a redesign and lowered the prices a bit, it would be booked up every day.

I've been coming here for a very long time, maybe almost 20 years. This is a SF institution…read more Everything they have is very good! Everything is cooked/baked the day of sale and it's all to go. There's nowhere for you to eat onsite. Find a park nearby and eat there! Or just eat standing on the sidewalk! Depending on who you get, the service varies. They sometimes yell at you. The woman that helped me today was yelling at me. I think it's not meant to be rude, or so I keep telling myself. Ha ha. I used to work nearby so it was very easy to grab takeout for lunch or to bring home. it's hard to know how much things cost, all you have is the big sign on the wall. They do not give you an itemized receipt. Don't even ask! All

We found this place because of the reviews, and I'd say they were right!…read more Get there early if you want egg rolls or pineapple pork buns because they do run out! The line was around the corner when we got there, but service moves fast. It's the perfect little hole-in-the-wall spot you hope to find in Chinatown, and SO cheap. The baked BBQ pork bun was delicious, but the vegetable and pork steamed buns were just as good, maybe even better. The chow mein needed a little extra soy sauce, but they give you packets and for $4, it's a steal. We also tried the pork shumai and honestly, everything was great. Definitely worth the line and a stop if you're exploring Chinatown!
