It was my first time dining here, and it's a very small, clean restaurant. The young lady who served me was extremely polite and professional. I ordered the beef brisket with rice. It came out very quickly and was hot, but unfortunately, the plate was about 80% fat with very little actual beef wasn't sure whether I should say anything because the restaurant is so small and I didn't want other customers to hear me and have a negative impression of the restaurant. However, I was very hungry, and it didn't feel fair to pay for brisket and end up eating mostly plain rice. I was really disappointed, so I finally told the server that I've ordered beef brisket many times before and that this was almost entirely fat. She agreed and kindly offered to replace it. I said yes, and she brought me another plate. The second plate was completely different--it was about 80% actual beef and was much better. We waited about ten minutes for a table to clear before we could be seated. It's a small restaurant. Please note that if you're dining alone, you may be asked to share a table with someone else. We ordered the C6, Beef Brisket Wunton Soup ($15.95), an A4, Cucumber Salad with Peanuts ($11.95) and an A5, Marinated Chinese Seaweed ($12.95). They were all pretty good, with typical "hole in the wall" Chinese restaurant quality. The seaweed, however, was really salty. We probably wouldn't order that dish here again. The brisket wonton soup was good. The meat had minimal gristle or tendons. We would order that one again. There are no hidden surcharges or SF Mandate fees here. If you like your Chinese food authentic, this is a good place to go. They won't smile and ask you how you are doing. They're not big on service, and your table might feel sticky. I finally got to try Hon's after having this spot bookmarked for years and it was the perfect quick dinner on a cold, rainy day when I was craving something soupy. I got the curry beef brisket wun-tun noodle soup while my boyfriend opted for the char sui and beef brisket wun-tun noodle soup. We also got an order of their boiled chicken, corn and mushroom dumplings to share. The menu is pretty large but essentially different combos of bbq with noodles, wun-tuns in soup or dry. The flavors are so comforting and fragrant. I loved the curry beef which comes on the side and it reminded me of the curry my family made when I was young. The egg noodles are thin and snappy, great in the light broth and perfect with the protein. The wun-tuns are such a star too with a generous pork & shrimp filling and there are huge pieces of shrimp inside. I liked the texture of the egg noodles and the bowl was filled with lots of BBQ meat and wontons. The BBQ meat was tender and not too sweet which I liked. I also liked the pork and shrimp filling inside the soft wontons which were juicy and good. The broth flavor was light, so I would have preferred a more savory flavor. I also wished the soup came warmer/hotter. My friend and I also shared a Lettuce in Oyster Sauce which was just steamed cabbage with sauce. It was alright, but not necessarily worth the $13 paid for it. The interior is small and the place does get pretty packed. I came with a friend and the staff made us share a table with a stranger which I understand is very Asian-style. The wontons were only okay for me. Nothing special. The portions are big, but they normally are in Chinatown. Green onion pancakes were good, crispy. We ordered the shrimp and pork wun tuns (not me) and the curry brisket with wun tuns and noodles. We also ordered pot stickers and a green onion pancake as appetizers. Things here come out as they are ready so things might come out in a different order than what you expect. The wun tuns came out first (thankfully). They looked delicious but I'm allergic to shellfish so I couldn't try them. When the curry brisket came out I noticed that the wun tuns looked the same, and was able to avoid them. The curry brisket was insane delicious. The pit sticker were also great (all pork), but the green onion pancake was so good it dwarfed everything else. I felt bad leaving the noodles and wun tuns, but even if I had been able to eat them I would have been way too full to make an effort. Learn from my mistake and order the other curry brisket entree if you're allergic, but if you aren't, you're gonna enjoy every bite at this place!!!!! My friend and I accidentally went to their sister spot at first realized something was off when we couldn't find the chicken wings on the menu.
