I went to Harborview for a friend's birthday banquet. Even though there were a lot of us, there was a massive amount of food. The standout dishes for me were the black cod and the duck. There was also an enoki mushroom dish that was really good. I ate several things I would never order myself, like fish maw and sea cucumber soup, but all of it was well prepared. Drinks were good too. I enjoyed my guava mojito. Service was really good. The pacing was especially good. The banquet room doesn't have any windows, which is a shame. The view of the Ferry Building and the bay from there is wonderful. The place was hopping. Pretty much every table was full. They validate parking for the garage, so be sure to bring your ticket. Great place for a family dinner or dim sum outing. Recommended.

This was a very popular place in sf/Embarcadero area with high ratings so I had to take my mom here for her birthday! They were accommodating since I was late, but keep in mind there is a charge if you are late but they were kind about it since my other guests arrived there before me. The service was quick and everyone was really friendly! The food was amazing as expected. My favorite was the honey walnut shrimp (not shown in the picture) and xiu mai. No complaints at all and I like how it's very modern where we can have drinks and a variety of options on the menu. The area is quite busy and parking is hard. There is a parking garage where the restaurant validates parking but I still paid $2 to exit the gate. I had a party of 10 people and everyone enjoyed the food! I'd give this a 5 but parking was difficult.

Pricey but pretty good dim sum! I was visiting family in SF and they took us to Harborview Restaurant! Since my family made a prior reservation, we were given a table in the private room so the experience was definitely elevated. We sat with another party inside the room so it was completely private but it was definitely private enough to then point where you can make comfortable conversation across the table. We ordered quite a lot of dishes from the dim sum menu and also off the dim sum menu. They offer a lunch menu that consists of noodles, seafood, and more! Honestly, from all the different dishes that we ordered, the baked coffee lava buns with crunchy sugar crust was delicious! It was hot and the filling dripped out as soon as I took the first bite. Another honorable mention was the deep fried shrimp dumplings! Definitely on the pricier end of dim sums but it was pretty decent!

This was my first time ever at this particular dim sum restaurant, and sadly, I couldn't have any of the dim sum because they all contained monosodium glutamate/MSG. Sadly, I'm horribly allergic to it. However, there is a separate menu I was able to order from where they could not add the MSG into those dishes. I was able to order the walnut prawns and a stirfry vegetable dish along with some rice. Granted the rice never came, but we ordered so many dishes and different types of dim sum. Everybody had a lot to eat!! The ambience was very clean, white tablecloths, which were switched out with every family family or group that joined, and there was a beautiful outside area overlooking the San Francisco downtown financial district. I kind of wish we sat outside, but you never know what the weather. The ambience within the restaurant itself, looked like something out of a beautiful Chinese movie with all the decorative art pieces and murals! I've never been to China, but the ambience looked pretty dead on from any subbed movie I've ever seen of restaurants over there. Service was rather quick, but there were so many waitresses and waiters. I couldn't believe how busy everyone stayed! As the restaurant was closing for a break between lunch and dinner, all the servers came out to eat their meal and there had to been at least 6 tablespoons full of employees!! All the dishes they had to eat looked delicious and smelled amazing also!! I would love to come back and try a couple more dishes, I just wish they didn't pre-make all the dim sum with monosodium glutamate. I know it's a unique food allergy, but I was happy that I could at least get a couple of dishes that didn't have any MSG.

I was here for a special occasion last weekend for a birthday/retirement party. I've been to a number of Chinese banquets over my lifetime but this surpassed them all. The consistent high quality overall caught my attention. Often times service in such restaurants are poor but this was above average for a Chinese restaurant. I won't bore you with an evaluation of each dish. I will point out that the black cod dish was exceptional. I can't ever recall having this. It was so delicate. It didn't feel like I was eating fish. All the dishes were spot on! We ate out on the patio. It was a beautiful day to hold this event.

Very yummy! Service is well trained and they do their best with such a busy place. I had my civil wedding celebration here, 30 people private lunch and it was great. Communication was a bit difficult but it's understandable when I had so many questions. This photo is from another event that I attended (happy hour for work) and everything was very smooth too. Servers would come to ask for our drink orders or we could ask at the bar. View on the outdoor area is totally worth it.

Great upscale dim sum in a lovely area! Made a reservation with my partner a day before and we got seated right away. Busy for dim sum Sunday mornings, every table was full but the workers were very efficient. Almost everything was very tasty and high quality. The bbq sugar pork buns were so good, worth the hype that we saw about them online. The shrimp rice crepes were a bit disappointing - the shrimps inside were really overcooked and some of the pieces still had shrimp tail on them. The soup dumpling were quite small and barely had any soup in them. But the other dishes we got were great.

We came around 130pm and were seated right away. All the other dishes we got were as expected. The turnip cake stood out and was better than most places. Fast service and good space for both small and big groups.

When in SF, you MUST come here for dim sum!! This is the best dim sum I've been to in the US. Anything on the menu is good. Our favorites are the baked BBQ pork buns with sugar crust and the coffee buns. This place is popular so we did make a reservation before setting out, just in case (it was a Memorial Day Monday, reserved for 1:00 pm at 12:15 pm lol). There is paid parking in the plaza; the Google Maps name is "Parking near Exploratorium" and you enter via the driveway on Clay St and Drumm St. Otherwise, we take the Bart to the Embaracadero stop and take the short walk over.

I keep wanting to like this place so I keep coming back to try it and each time I am reminded why I don't want to come back. What's good. The view is great What not so great. Everything else. Food should be better prepared. Thought they have a Michelin star and food is so sloppy for the price they charge and the service always felt robotic. We had whole duck and the soup $80 and the duck came with bones! Wow. Z&y Beijing duck for similar price is way better. The soup came out also more watery also with bones and mustard green. It was just okay but unimpressive The braised tofu and vegetable for $28 is again just average. I was going to give this a three star but then a 20% gratuity is auto added for our table for 2 people. Plus the final check still comes with room for tip. So if someone didn't hear that gratuity was included already they can accidentally overtip. Shady business practice. Alas a lipstick on a pig and I have tried this place at least 5 times over the last 5 years. I keep thinking they may improve. I am wrong and won't be back. It's a place for show but doesn't really have refined Chinese food.

Very popular for weekend brunch, so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Decent dim sum selection with very fast service. I expected higher food quality for the price they charge. Portion sizes are very small. There is also a mandatory 18% service fee for parties of all sizes. The vibes are nice especially when you sit outside. Expect to spend 40+ per person to be full.

It's a nice Memorial Day weekend so we came back for dim sum. We were pleasantly surprised the dim sum was much better than the last visit. The service was also attentive. Our server Shao was helpful and quick to respond. They have plenty of outdoor tables, as well as indoor seating. The event going off without a hitch was really important, especially because the bride had lost her mom and didn't have her to celebrate this special milestone. I wanted to make sure the order was on time and there were no issues with delivery. I ended up canceling my original order because DoorDash wasn't going to confirm a dasher until the day of the delivery. I re-ordered through DoorDash but this time as a pick up. Again, DoorDash's service was leaving me unsure because they weren't going to send the order through until the pick up day. This was $500 worth of dim sum and I didn't want to take a chance the restaurant didn't receive the order or that they couldn't fulfill it in time. So, I canceled that order as well. I called the restaurant directly. They took my order without hesitation and made me feel at ease that everything will be ready on time. I called again in the morning to confirm my order before leaving for pick up. I couldn't get a hold of anyone, most likely they were busy with their Sunday rush, but they called me back even without me leaving a message! This is our "official" dim sum option for weeknight take out. Personal favorites for me are always going to be the salt/pepper wings, the steamed pork buns, the crystal shrimp dumplings, and the scallion pancakes. My wife loves the soup dumplings, the shu mai. We could eat those dishes every week until we die pretty much, they are reliably good and comforting. Particular shout out on the pork buns though because they are just the absolute best consistency from a filling/bun standpoint. Soft, pillowy, they are glorious. I used to get pork buns from Good Mong Kok Bakery, but tbh, this is about 10x better. The soup dumpling also are quite good, I like the spicy ones but the black truffle is defintely worth it for the occasional splurge. They give you the red vinegar for it too which not all places do. Everything one needs to enjoy. I haven't been in person so I couldn't speak for the service or the location, but if you want a spot that delivers on time and often includes items for free (the pork buns are now free for orders over $50), this is great value and just great food. It was chewy and tasted uncooked. I began to lose my appetite... Sesame Chicken 0/5 - it was all batter, little to NO meat inside whatsoever. Saucy but it was very clumpy. I was so disappointed with this one. It was literally just eating fried batter in sesame sauce with sesame seeds thrown on top. Braised String Beans - 2.5/5. They were fine, flavored enough with the grilled onions and garlic other than that, not impressive at all. I had really high hopes for this place/order. Strong five star experience…read more I came here for a work dinner and it felt like the food just kept coming. I wish I had a better memory of everything that I ate, but there was too much. I do remember that I absolutely loved the Peking duck. They came with very thin, I can only describe it as tortilla crêpe things that you would put it in. I love this so much better than the standard buns. I also loved the fried string beans. It was tempura fried and very light. It didn't taste greasy at all. Out of three places we went to dinner for work, this was my favorite by far. It is right in Ghirardelli Square so there's a lot of things you can walk around and do either before or after. Service was great. They were very attentive. The restaurant itself was very open and lit well. They had us in a back area so it was easy to chat with my coworkers. There wasn't a single dish I didn't like so I would highly recommend coming here.

Lunch. Special. Vibe…read more I have more time on my hands on weekdays these days and finding a great lunch spot tend to be a challenge. But the "new" Red Jade came to mind. They are known for their reasonably priced lunch specials without breaking the bank. Good selection, fast service, they have you in and out before you know it. Quite taken aback by efficient service. But it's a welcoming spot off Market Street and on Church. Food is great, delicious, good for meet up with a friend, centrally located. What's not to like about this Chinese restaurant in the City outside of Chinatown?

We've been coming to this place since 2020, and it has changed a lot over the years. (I wish I…read morecould say it got better, but unfortunately it got worse.) For example, the seafood gyoza used to come with that delicious mayo-looking sauce, and not anymore. The servers were really friendly and helpful back in the day, but not anymore. We asked what happened to the sauce, and she was just like, "Not anymore." Another example, the lamb dumplings also used to come with a special sauce, and they don't have that anymore either. Honestly, we were kinda scared to even ask about it because our server didn't seem like she was having a good day. The cucumber salad also used to be a much bigger portion, but this time it was super small. Idk what happened to this place. It used to be amazing, and I really hope it goes back to how it was. We heard from some friends that it has a new owner (not sure if that's actually true), so maybe that's the reason. I'll definitely update my review after my next visit if things get better, and I do apologize for the 3-star review.

It was a literal dark and stormy night so between squalls I geared up and headed down Guerrero…read moretoward 17th Street and swung down to Valencia for another perfect simple dining experience at Bao. I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

Quick and tasty spot. Came here to split a siu mai while waiting for my order from another spot…read more The cashier was super friendly and the food came out quickly. Heads up that this is mostly a takeaway spot and they only have 1-2 small tables. The siu mai was fairly big and I liked that the order came with a bunch of sauces- chili oil, soy sauce, and a hot sauce. As a big sauce fan, I appreciated the selection! I'll be back to try most of their selection.

I've only ordered dim sum from here through Too Good to Go (2g2g). Like their Chinatown location,…read moreI find the dim sum to be oily. But overall, it's good. The baked bbq pork buns are sweet with a decent amount of filling. The deep fried dumpling is plump, juicy, and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are my favorite. It's full of shrimp with a slightly thicker skin, which I think adds a nice chewiness. The veggie egg rolls were okay. I personally wouldn't order those, even if I was craving them. The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
