Good local take out joint in the shopping plaza across the street from the Stop and Shop supermarket on Northern and Marathon Parkway. From the looks of it, the bulk of their business is take out and delivery. With only a few tables available to sit, most seem to just stop in and take it to go. I tasted the fried chicken and French fries (for my kid) and they were a tad oily but had a good flavor. It was definitely crisp. I also ordered the curry chicken, had a hint of heat from the red pepper flakes but not necessarily from the curry itself. Hubby tried the shrimp with lobster sauce but next time would've preferred white rice instead of the pork fried rice (the sauce would go better with the plain rice). All in all, decent prices and good food but could easily recommend other comparable take out places close by. This one was definitely old school in decor, signage, and menu. Note: cash only!! I love some shitty Chinese food, but this Chinese food was actually shitty. I got the special combination with chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice. They said they didn't have chow mein noodles and offered vegetables instead, which I took them up on, thinking they were talking about like broccoli & carrots. What they gave me looked like cole slaw with gooey cabbage and onions, mixed in with some creamy white pieces of chicken on top of the chicken fried rice in the same box. I used to go to this place years back. I always thought the food was good, but I stopped going because they didn't accept credit cards, only cash. I decided to give it another try. The good news is that they accept credit cards now. The food this night was disappointing, however; not bad, but not what I remember as having been really good Chinese take-out. The steamed dumplings were doughy - never had ones like these. The boneless ribs were an odd cut, a bit tough, and had little of the fatty grease that makes boneless ribs so so good. The General Tzo's Chicken wasn't what I remembered either. The sauce was dark and not very spicy. Usually the sauce for this dish has a more orangey flavor. The chicken was thickly breaded and a bit tough, as well. Finally, they only included 2-3 small broccoli florets in this dish - I expected more. I think they must have changed recipes or changed the chef from years back (see photos of dishes ordered). They are old school, so bring cash and NOT cards. I tried out different take-outs around the area, King Wok is definitely one of the best and most reliable choices. The food is always hot and fresh. The orange beef lacked the orange flavor and it was just drenched in sauce making the beef soggy. The cheese wontons were fine.. but your really can't screw up wrapping cream cheese in wonton skin and deep frying it. I tried King Wok after hearing about how great it is from a friend. It's not close where I would order it to my house, but I certainly had time to go and try it out. It is located in a small shopping center on Northern Boulevard in Little neck, and it's kind of hard to spot right away. Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed upon entering was one of the plastic pictures of the food hanging by a nail or screw. While it was a turn off, I saw that the tables were clean, and the counter too. I ordered a Kung Pao Chicken combination with rice and egg roll. The folks there had newspapers which was a nice touch and not something you see very often in Chinese take-outs. There were a few tables so I sat down and waited. The food was ready very quickly. When I say the Kung Pao Chicken was great, I mean it. The rice IMO was just OK though, had it been equally as good I would have given 5 stars. Maybe it was an off night ... I will definitely be back and will update accordingly. Prices are average and the cashier/guy who took the order spoke English well. Give them a try if in the area. There is a parking lot on premises but it fills up quick. There is plenty of street parking, both on Northern and on the residential block adjacent to the place. read more

So I had a taste for chinese food. Having recently moved to the area, my brother wasn't sure of where to go, so I yelped it. I saw this spot had rave reviews, so I called them up. At first we ordered delivery, but they did not take credit cards (sigh). Since I had to go get cash, I decided to pick up the food instead. When I arrived, I was greeted kindly and my order was ready. When I got home, I couldn't eat my food right away. When I finally opened the bag, I realized they forgot the rice. Ugh. I called the restaurant and the guy who gave me the food claimed that he put the rice in there. ME: So...I'm telling you it's not in the bag. He kept claiming it was there. ME: You think I would call you and make this up? After a few go-rounds of this, I grew frustrated. (At this point, this is where the old adage: the customer is always right comes into play.) ME: Well It's not here so could you deliver a new rice? KW: Maybe... if I have time. ME: If you have time? KW: Yeah, if I have time. ME: I'm confused... are you able to deliver it or not? KW: (with an attitude) If I have time. I don't know what to tell you. ME: You can tell me if you can deliver it or not. For example, "Yes ma'am or no ma'am, I can't right now". "You can give me a time, an hour, 30 minutes... something". I hate the fact that I have to check up on a restaurant. If I place an order, my food should be in there the way I ordered. I only ordered from your restaurant because you had good reviews on yelp, but now you're forcing me to consider what kind of review I need to write, so that customers see how they will be treated when they frequent your establishment. KW: I don't care about Yelp! I don't give a RAT'S ASS what anyone says about me. I've been in business for 20 years. ME: So now you're cursing at me?? I was visibly upset, so he accompanied me back to the restaurant. When we arrived, I simply placed the food on the counter. I didn't want to talk anymore. My brother proceeded to explain to him how customers should be treated. KW tried to say, "but I was busy". I had to remind him about his "rat's ass" comment which he actually TRIED TO DEFEND. His "cousins" came up to the counter and he then asked if I wanted my money back. All he had to do was try to accommodate me, that's it. I don't see how that's so hard, but I guess his arrogance got the best of him. If you take a look at my reviews, you will see they are always fair. And thankfully I generally get good customer service, but I will not turn a blind eye to disrespect. I very rarely give 1 star, but customer service to me is of utmost importance and I will not allow ANY merchant to believe it is acceptable to treat customers this way. In the past month there has been a Huge difference in the quality of their food. I've ordered the combo ribs special twice this month. I can understand raising the prices during these times but to decrease the ribs and both times two of the four ribs are sooo meatless and dried out to a crisp, that I'm going to rethink where I will order next. This is an Americanized Chinese take-out place. I agree with the other posters that it is above average in quality. Also the price is pretty good, especially for lunch as this place is really cheap for the area. There were no problems I noted with the cleanliness of the restaurant. Food was hot, and freshly made-to-order. My biggest gripe is that there is nothing particularly new or unique about this place, personally I rather have real Chinese food like say a Chinatown restaurant transplanted outside of the city would be nice.
