Though we have ordered here before and had zero problems, tonight's fiasco was enough for us to end our love/hate relationship with New Garden. The food is good, though the portions are always on the skimpy side (what this place calls a "large" is a competitor's "small."). Tonight will be the last time we order from here. First, it's important to note that our apartment number has changed since the last time we ordered from NG, and I did indeed type the correct apartment number in the address field. However, the billing address for my bank card is still the old address, so I had entered that in the appropriate spot on the web form as well. I guess I was wrong to assume they would deliver to the correct apartment or at least call if there was confusion. But I got a phone call from them saying they attempted to deliver and the occupants denied having ordered food. So they told me I had typed in the old number, and I corrected them on the phone and they said they would re-deliver. No problem. So I checked the email they sent that confirmed our order and sure enough the correct apartment number was on the order. When the delivery person finally showed up, we were missing two egg rolls that we paid extra for. So when I called the restaurant to let them know, they all but called me a liar on the phone. I asked them to remove the items from the final bill, but they insisted that they deliver the two egg rolls. When the delivery person reappeared, she told me she had packed the bag herself and asked again if I was sure the egg rolls were missing. If they had been there, I surely would not have called them again. I didn't appreciate the attitude that I was trying to pull one over on them over two lousy egg rolls. Don't look for my phone number to pop up on your caller ID again, folks. Top China up the road is better and cheaper any way. read more

3 times I have ordered food from this place 1st time, I ordered online. Got to the restaurant and they had no clue. "what...you order online...what ..you tell me now and I fix and I give you 2 free egg rolls" Okay, so I give them my order and go shopping at publix...come back and pick up the food. $47 worth of chinese food about $12 to $17 more than most other chinese restaurants in the area. I enjoyed my meal from them. Very tasty! I would've given them a full five stars if it wasn't for the fact that their food isn't filling to me. After having a meal from them, I'm hungry with the next hour or two again. For the price you pay, it's a bummer you aren't full from it. So that's my only downer, but great food. read more

Family owned , great food , always fresh , never greasy ,best eggrolls , Best Chinese food I've had in Florida ever. I love eating out but I usually have indigestion every time I do, I have never had any problems after eating their food . This is the only oriental food that I will eat in all of Florida . Ordered Pad Thai, (two verities) and Chow Fun on January 7, 2021. This was absolutely the worst oriental food that I have ever had. No fish sauce in the Pad Thai, no bean sprouts, no Thai basil, no heat, no kaffir lime, no flavor. All of the three diners ordered we threw out. What a sad thing. eggrolls included with the dinners would make Gordon food items look fantastic. We can only assume that the lack of any real seasoning and flavor is due to an inexperienced or otherwise unqualified cook. Would not recommend unless you are starving and they are giving it away. read more

The best Chinese food I've had-including fancy Chinese restaurants in Chicago & Las Vegas. Everything is very fresh & full of flavor. I haven't had anything I didn't like. I even think the eggrolls are homemade. They don't taste frozen. The place is very clean. The family that runs it are so nice, especially the guy at the counter. He's very funny & friendly. Their orange chicken tastes like real chicken. No mystery meat here! LOVE IT read more

Just moved here and looking for great Chinese, this wasn't it. Bland, tasteless, tons of cornstarch made everything like jelly. Tom Yum Koong wasn't even very spicy and hardly any shrimp. Never saw KRAB in shrimp and lobster sauce before. There has to be better around here. read more

We have seen this place before when going to Publix (it's in the same plaza just east of the grocery store) but hadn't eaten here until we received a menu in the mail today. My bride of 36 years likes Chinese on occasion so we headed down there for lunch. While the parking area outside was full the restaurant wasn't. One other couple was eating and we selected a booth away from the door after the girl behind the counter was too busy on the phone to acknowledge our arrival. When she did come by she asked if were were eating here - since we're sitting at the booth well into the restaurant I would have thought she would have gathered that one. The menu in the nice enclosure was simply the mailed menu we had received and we ordered off the lunch menu. My wife ordered the cashew chicken and I ordered the sweet & sour pork. You get fried pork rice with one side. My wife got a can of diet Coke, and I had the egg drop soup. I asked if I could have tea... "we don't have tea" was the response. I don't think I've ever eaten in a Chinese restaurant that didn't have hot tea! It all came out at the same time, and surprisingly enough in to-go containers! I got a glass of water, and it was a nice tall glass, but my wife got, literally, a can of diet Coke! The egg drop soup was luke warm but it had a good flavor. Both of the entree's were plentiful and good. My wife's cashew chicken was hot and had lots of chicken in it, along with a good sauce. I had probably 20 pieces of sweet and sour pork, and the sauce was hot and very tasty. All that being said the next time we saw the server was when she brought the check when we were all done eating. She never checked to see if we needed anything, if the food was OK, if we needed more beverages, salt & pepper (there were no condiments on the table at all), or anything else. The prices do not reflect the quality of their food. My husband and I ordered the Red Curry with Chicken and the Basil Sauce with shrimp, both underwhelmed (a disappointment at $12.99 each) the Basil was bland and overwhelmed with onion..I think I found one basil leaf in the whole dish. The young man at the front never gave us issues! Well today some lady took my order and when I got home my order was incorrect. I called to advise them and was told they dont know how to handle this and to bring the mess up back! I said why should I bring it back when it was not my mistake...they proceeded to tell me that they will have someone call me back. The person who took my order contacts me back and tells me I was wrong and she got the order perfect! When I advised her of what was actually ordered she got mad and hung the phone up on me! Whaaaaaat!!!! I take the food back and get told to my face she was right over and over. Came with high with expectations but am a bit disappointed. My dinner companion was very satisfied with his meal. We ordered Crab Rangoon, and all I could taste was cream cheese and onion powder. He had a shrimp roll and loved it. I ordered a spring roll. While fried very nice, with the first bite I had barely warm and cold vegetables. The rest of it was warm. My companion ordered pork lomein and it was very good . I ordered Hunan Shrimp. The sauce had a nice flavor, but the main vegetable appeared to be celery. A LOT of celery. So, we have mixed reviews. I had originally read this place a five star restaurant. After today's experience and after being bashed by somebody that clearly pointed out to me that this place is that you're disgusting dump of a place and dishonest people I clearly open up my eyes to this. Today I ordered something that I normally order on the regular basis with one item extra added to my menu. Today I ordered chicken mei fun and something that I normally order all the time which is sesame chicken with shrimp fried rice which is normally charge a little extra for that dish. I also ordered one more item more than I would normally order which was boneless rib tips. $27.00 on the average for ordering this without the rib tips. Well today I did order the rib tips as an extra item on my menu and from $27 it all the sudden became $47. Plus I tip the $6 tip to the driver. Now explain to me how rib tips cost $20 for a large order. I called the restaurant and complained about the issue and please keep in mind that I am a regular customer that's been coming there for years. The son of the owner now also please keep in mind that this is a family-owned restaurant and I know the entire family. Well the some of the restaurant told me and I heard his mother was he claims to be the manager says that she cannot help me and was unwilling to help me. Not only did they over charge me for my order but they also screwed up my order. I ordered a can of Pepsi they gave me a can of sprite instead and I also ordered two tea bags of Chinese tea which day did not give to me. I am very disappointed in this place and I had high expectations for this place that honor me and take care of me as I took care of them with great tips and constantly purchasing food from their restaurant. They refuse doubt me and they let me down. Granted their food is a four out of 5 stars, but I will guarantee that I will never do business with this place ever again and there are several other surrounding restaurants that are just as good if not better that I have not given a chance to yet. This place has let me down and I did write them as number one but I will guarantee that if I go down Manatee Avenue I will find something much better than this dump. I purchased sesame chicken and shrimp fried rice as a combination platter and chicken mei fun as a solo Dish as well as boneless rib tips and I was charged $47. That is literally three dishes and 3 cans of soda which one of them was one that I did not order. Please do not do business with this place they are shady and grimy and they do not do good business. They are scum bags to the fullest and I am going to make this clear on Facebook and every single website possible that advertises their business. Oh and another thing that I must add is that one we ordered these meals as usually we received a soup or egg roll as far as a side to come with these meals. Now I also need you to keep in mind that I've been doing business with this place for a long time and I always received an egg roll or a soup upon order. Good quick Chinese takeout/delivery. Reason they get 5 stars is the family that owns and operates it! Super sweet family! Order the meal over the phone and forgot to ask for no mushrooms for the wife's food. I told the nice lady that I forgot and she said no problem and quickly made a new meal for my wife!
