I waited for 2 hours for my sister to get her nails done, a basic full set of acrylics and gel color, (What other nail salons would have done in about 1 hour at maximum.) It doesn't even deserve the bare minimum one star. For the sake of safety awareness to potential customers please read. The place was filthy. Just a small hole in the wall where you don't expect much from. But that's not why I choose to write this review. After getting her nails done last Saturday, my sister has developed tiny, painful blisters on each of her fingers around the cuticle and behind the acrylics. These blisters with filled with clear fluid and her skin was swollen and red. She told me that the lady who did her nails kept cutting her skin even after she said it hurt. I usually come here when my bf is working to do a mai and peddi. The prices are not bad its usually like 23 for acryillic with french tip and 22 for the pedi. During the week day around 2-4 there's not much people here. Do take note that there are no air conditioning here therefore when it's hot, it can get hot in there. The pedi is great. I love the foot tub with the bubbles and the minty feeling green scub they put on the feet and leg. I absolutely love the speed and efficiency of this place. Make sure you take a close look as, sometimes the shaping can be off or uneven. The best person to work on your nails is the owner. She's efficient and fast. Regular acrylics with gel is normally 30 which sounds great but the nails are terrible The actual service, I walked in waited and that's completely fine I did come In on a Friday. She was rushing through my nails that she didn't file my nails to glue on the tips and they kept falling off. It took her a good three times to get them on. I asked for coffin and what I got was not coffin it was square. I told her to please get out all the acrylic and gel off from under because I wanted the red to look good. She said she was going to do it after and didn't. She got the acrylic on my cuticles... and one completely off it looked like it grew out. Also she was so rough with my nails the side of my nails hurt from all the filing Honestly just not for me. If you want something good I don't recommend this. Did a walk-in today, no appointment early in the morning, Friday, and it was already full. They greeted me and attended me within 20 minutes. I asked for acrylic almond shape and the lady was very observant with making sure that my nails turn out perfectly. They all were very understanding and sweet, and did the job in 40 minutes which I find A RECORD! This was my first time visiting and I'm sure I'd go back! It also happened to be my first time getting acrylic nails with gel polish which I believe was $30. It was a treat from my mom and my grandma also went. Tom did my nails and he was very diligent, I had no idea there were so many steps to putting fake nails on. I believe they came out OK, not horrible, but not the best because I did find bubbles and funny curves when he shaped them. My mother had a gel manicure and it came out lovely, I believe hers was $25 My grandma had what they call a regular manicure ($10) I didn't see them massage her hands like other places and within the hour, her paying had smeared. It would've been perfect if they had better communication with their customers. I prefer words over them handling me like an object. Also, although walk-ins are available, I wish they didn't make us feel rushed as if there were a line waiting behind us. We went yesterday, on a rainy Tuesday early afternoon and were able to find parking right in the front, but perhaps on busy days/times you might have to park on the side of the corner by the residential area because this little ship is wedged between other shops and on a buddy road. read more

I used to love this place. But when I get a manicure, it is not relaxing at all. I get my fingers pulled and my joints hurt since the manicurist always grips my joints too hard. Also, the nail polish is too thick so it starts peeling off within hours of my manicure and even when I tell the manicurist she ignores it and continues with it. I've tried to give this place a lot of tries, but I'm finally done with this place. Not great for manicures in my opinion. The only reason I would come back is for a pedicure with the older woman, she takes her time and makes sure that I like them before finishing. read more

This is a cute little salon with about 4 manicure and 4 pedicure stations. While we were getting gel manicures (only $30!), we chatted with some other customers who were all saying they and their families have gone for years and it was the best around! The staff was so friendly and efficient and continually would make sure we were satisfied with our nail shape/color/care. This was my first time going to New Generation Nails it is 5 minutes from my house and needed a full set quickly. I arrived on Thursday around 1:30pm, and was greeted warmly and helped right away for a full set. Total time spent on nails was 30 minutes or a little more and the outcome was beautiful the price is also good 35$ when I've paid 50$ or more else where in the Palo Alto area for the same results. Its not worth being over charged or incorrectly charged, its not worth a 2 hour wait, it is just not worth it. Waited 45 min to get my pedi and full set done so that I can be RUSHED through both. I came here for the first time and will never be back. The owner herself did my pedicure, she was friendly, however she does things RUSHED!!!!! she clipped my toe nails extremely short without asking how short or the shape, and was rough!! When i brought it to her attention she just laughed it off. My pedicure literally lasted 10 minutes. She didn't scrub bottom of my feet, she picked up brush thing, scrubbed sides for about 5 seconds and moved on to scrub legs, once again that lasted less than 30 seconds. The ladies are very nice and my nails aren't horrid for $25 for a gel mani that is all I ask BUT omg this place is ghetto! It's tiny, shabby, dilapidated and worse it has zero ventilation. The nail ladies were all wearing masks. I don't know how they can stand it day in and day out. I have a serious headache from all the fumes in that teeny space. I came home and opened all the windows. I can still smell it. BTW normally I like the smell of nail salons. I'm tempted to call Menlo Park PD and report this place for health violations. I came in Saturday morning no appointment @around 10 am & it was already pretty packed, none the less they were able to sit me down pretty quickly. I got a pedi first and let me tell you I loved it ! I have nothing but good things to say about my pedicure I'm unsure about who did it I really wished I asked but I will be going back for a pedi in the future. Now the reason I only gave the stars I did was because now my nails I got a full set with Hannah & it felt soooo rushed, she wasn't gentle & she cut me twice. Although the work she did is not horrible it's also NOT GREAT & not saying she doesn't do nice nails but it was soooo rushed. My nails look so textured and wavy like the polish wasn't evenly painted, I have areas around my nails that are NOT painted . I had to go home and file them myself because she didn't do an even job. I visited New Generation Nails for the first time yesterday. It's right across the street from where I work so I've been eyeing it every morning and evening on my commute, waiting for the day I'd have just enough time (and cash) to sit down and gussy myself up. Now, I can say honestly that I was a HOT MESS by anyone's account when I sauntered into this place at 5pm on the first day we had a climate over 70 degrees. My toes, especially, were no easy task to approach. (Listen- I recently started a new job, I just moved into a new apartment, and with the weather acting the way it has, I've been able to get away with stuffing my feet into boots and calling it a day.) The way these women took care of me was by all means angelic. They did not scoff at the condition of my cuticles and from what I observed, took the extra time to get both hands and feet into a condition I haven't seen in months. Remarkable. At $33 for both french mani + pedi, it's beyond reasonable. You can pay extra for a spa-like environment or for some fancy creams if you'd like, but for a simple place that's friendly, competent, and budget-favorable, this is my pick :) read more

The worst gel Mani I've received in my life First it took 20 minutes total, including soak off I had to remove a previous gel mani and they bring you a bowl of clear liquid (i assumed it was water ) and tell you to stick your hand in A few seconds later and my fingers start to burn and I realize they had me dip my hand straight into acetone The mani itself was horrible, she actually filed my skin down to start bleeding. And I said oh ow ! and she goes sorry and then files AGAIN WHERE IM BLEEDING ! I kid you not my finger weas bleeding for hours, and I should mention the nail file was previously used. I'm so relieved I didn't get staph from that !! That's another thing, their tools aren't new, she pulled them out of a caddy. I didn't think much of it til I saw the scrape marks on the file. Usually this doesn't bother me too much but I guess it should considering this place likes to file your skin off She overpainted the sides of my nails to cover my skin, so later that evening I had to cut off the gel with a nail cutter. This mani lasted less than a week. The mani itself had lint and was unevenly raised, like too much polish on the tips and not enough on the nail bed so my nails looked warped She kept bragging about how fast she was, lady that is not in your favor I will never come back here again read more

In terms of pricing, this is the best nail salon I've found in the Bay Area peninsula. I got a shellac manicure (for the first time) and a pedicure. The salon itself isn't at all luxurious, but that's not important to me so long as they do a good job on my nails - which they did. In fact, one of my toe nails (which looked fine to me) apparently didn't look good enough to Hannah (I think she's the owner) and she actually redid it for me. Hannah was really nice overall and I felt that she was friendlier than manicurists usually are. The only thing that I didn't like was this damp smell that stuck with me even after I left. However, everything seemed clean so it wasn't a big deal to me. I think this is going to be my go-to nail salon in the bay (unless I can find somewhere cheaper - doubtful) read more

They do a pretty decent job and the prices are very fair. If you need nails, a mani, or a pedicure quickly head to New Generation. I will say that they can be rough; I had to tell my nail technician to stop clipping my cuticles because she was taking off pretty hefty pieces of skin along with them. The massage that came with the manicure was no more than 30 seconds long (womp, womp). BUT I will say that my gel manicure was probably the longest lasting mani I have ever had. The first time I went was great! I was with my nephew, and I just so happen to work in Palo Alto so it was the perfect place for a last minute mani pedi before an event. The ppl were nice, I was even considering bringing my mom sometime, I even told my friends about it. Not Anymore.
