    Korean Dumpling
    Maggie M.

If you're looking for authentic Korean dishes, then this is the place. Especially when it is cold outside perfect place to get their soups. We came during lunch time. Had their Korean dumpling soup, Galbi soup, and Uguji Galbi Soup. Very flavorful and good portions of meat. Came with rice and variety of side dishes. The rice cakes (tteokbokki) had a good amount of heat and was sweet and savory.

This place is my secret true gem in burbs. It's like Authentic home cooked with best ingredients by your mom. Every dish is amazing. Have been frequenting this place for 15 years and never had a bad experience. Owner chef and wife are so incredibly genuine, amazing people. Always so generous and attentive. Pays attention to details in kindness. We had seafood pancake, mool nengmyon, dolsot bibimbop and goat soup. Quieter on weeknights and incredibly quick service. Street parking is always so easy. Located in north downtown Westmont, closer to Chicago Ave. absolute gem of west burbs.

Was looking for Korean bbq place while visiting my my mom. I saw some mixed reviews here.. Despite what I read ..the images of the food looked legit so I had to give it try. Went on Sunday afternoon and wasn't busy Galbi 4/5 : high quality galbi ..we had it cooked in the kitchen thinking it would be easier but felt it would be better next time to cook it fresh at the table and you can control level of cooking. In general if they have hot coal cooking at the table opt for that first . Marinade was perfect, just enough to not over power the meat ..some places go overboard with sugar. Naengmyun 5/5: total surprise here. Alot of bbq places don't make this dish well. Broth was perfect, Noodles fresh and even put the ice on the side to customize how much you want. Nice touch! Add vinegar and hot mustard to give it a kick ( bottles provided ) Kimchi stew 4/5 : high marks for hitting the right rich flavor profile. Savory , Kimchi , bits of meat to flavor the soup and tofu. Taste close to how I would make it at home . Seafood pancake 5/5: Crispy , veggie yumminess . Not oily and comes with sauce in the middle of the dish with small serving ladel. It's worth 15$ that other are complaining about. Tips: If you want subpar cheap Korean food ..this place is not for you. I ordered about 6 different dishes and bill came out to be 115 for 3 people. Quality was great. Final thoughts: I've been eating Korean food around this area for years and now this place is at the top of my list . Great place for families , date night or get together w friends. Love the traditional interior and cozy booths. Support your local mom n pop restaurants and don't go cheap on yourselves!

It pains me to hit a mom and pop shop like this, but honestly the food just wasn't very good. $15 for a seafood pancake with maybe one or two pieces of imitation crab meat with too much vegetables and not enough pancake... ouch. $15 for short rib soup with mediocre quality meat... ouch. Chap chae was good, but price did seem marked up. Side dishes (banchan) didn't seem to be as fresh and possibly sitting out. Miso soup had a weird after taste to it (still scratching my head where the miso soup came from, but maybe was apart of one of the items we ordered). Saving grace was the sweet old lady serving us, but boy did this place miss the mark in terms of food. Scrolling through photos I've realized a lot of it is from years ago and look good then, but recently it seems to have fallen off. Anyhow, it's slim pickings out here in the western burbs, so it may be back to SGD or trekking out to the north burbs the next time I get the itch for Korean food. What a bummer. 'Til next time.

Dinning experience is good here. Its a small restaurant so its best not to expect too much. Though I would say the restaurant needs some upgrade to improve the ambiance and also the grills when cooking. The food is good. Some korean dishes are a bit "americanish". The prices are fair enough coz i believe this is the only korean restaurant in the area.

Food was nice- side dishes were decent, marinated meat was a bit chewy but they use coal for the grill, it added flavor a bit more than gas grill, honestly, i think i was stunned by prices on food as the portion was smaller than usual korean places, but maybe it is because it is suburb. Idk. Soup was good.

Not much options around in my area so I had to try this spot out. I came during the week at lunch thinking they had a lunch menu, but they don't. So don't expect to see any type of lunch time special. I got the bibimbop and my husband got the stone pot rice. Flavor of the beef was ok, not very strong. The vegetable portion was good, but I think they could have put more meat. I did appreciate that they gave us 5 different banchan when dining in. I'm curious what they give you when you order takeout. They seem like they have decent grilling tables. I'd be interested in trying that sometime. I've had some great korean food in the city, so my expectations are high. This place is just ok IMO.

Yum, Yum, Yum! My first time having Korean food and it was definitely excellent! My husband lived in Korea for 3 years and he is very picky with his Korean food, and he liked it a lot!

    Bulgogi BBQ

The BBQ was amazing! We ordered the Ribeye, Bulgogi, and Pork along with all the side that come standard at a Korean Restaurant. Service was too notch. The thing that separates this places from others is that they have real charcoal grills. The charcoal adds to the flavor for an authentic experience. We will be back!

Mackerel -so delicious and satisfying. Crispy and salty $15

I've been binge watching a Korean drama and therefore my Korean food intake has increased by 300%. That's a good thing. I really wanted the Korean bbq but most places have a minimum requirement of 2 dishes per table. Boo. It's okay. I ordered the grilled mackerel and was completely satisfied. I love (LOVE) when fish is grilled perfectly. I also love it when you take a bite of the fish and the skin is super crispy to the point where you wonder how something so delicate can produce such a crispy skin. Then you immediately eat a spoonful of rice afterwards and something pickled to tackle the saltiness and fattiness of the fish. Maybe some daikon radish bites or some kimchi? And then a sip of some warm soup before you rinse and repeat. Yup, that's my happiness. The banchan here is very fresh, as was the rice. (I hate old rice) And while I'll have to come back to see how well this restaurant tackles other Korean staples, I can say that their mackerel was worth me coming back.

Beef Bulgogi and galbi-various kimchi and tofu side

Went here for my birthday and I am still thinking about it! The food was delicious. My husband and I ordered Bulgogi and short ribs Galbi bbq along with the dumplings. Dumplings were delicious and buttery. We gobbled them right up! We were afraid that we order too much but actually it was the perfect amount with a side of rice for each of us and a noodle to shared. Loved the side soup that was included with the bbq as well as the kimchi and chili paste sauce was to die for. We will definitely be back for more!

We visited on a weekday for lunch. Nothing wowed in terms of food or service. Would consider giving it one more short for dinner.

As I brought it to our table I made sure to let my fellow diner know to use a napkin as the shaker was dirty and sticky. We finally just ordered chicken broth with ramen noodles expecting it to taste like Lipton chicken noodle soup. SURPRISE ~ not like anything I have ever tasted before. The booth where we were seated faced west so there were slats and a shade to cover the window. Reading the menu was next to impossible. This was my first exposure to ramen and, most likely, my last. I got tired of waiting for my printed receipt so we left. I will not return to this restaurant.

Their drinks menu had some familiar options but catered to authentic Japanese flavors. For starters, we got the Pork Dumplings and Tempura Zucchini, Sweet Potato, & Avocado. The vegetables tasted fresh and tempura was fluffy and crunchy; not greasy. For mains, we shared a bunch of rolls. We got the Godzilla, Boston, Spicy Tuna, Vegetable, as well as (2) off menu rolls. I loved that the vegetable roll let you pick 2-3 veggies you wanted to make it a unique flavor. The Sushi Rolls were well priced for the size we got. When asking for signature roll suggestions, a server told us about some off menu rolls she highly recommended so we knew we had to try! These two were easily our favorites of the night.
