We have been passing by this restaurant for several months because it is between our home and the sport center. We finally gave it a try with our family dinner of 14. It was the perfect opportunity to try a variety of items. Here is what we ordered: Thai iced tea (4) Egg roll, vegetarian (4) Chicken satay (2) Pad see eiw w/beef (2) Crispy Thai noodles w/tofu (2) Green curry with tofu (2) Basil seafood with extra seafood mix (2) Mixed veggie stir-fry with shrimp (2) Mango and sticky rice (4) Overall, we were satisfied with the flavor profiles and everything was delivered in an efficient manner. The portions are not large and I think we would order two more entrees when we revisit with our large group of 14. We have had mango and sticky rice many times in the past. This is our first time having it with a purple-bluish color sticky rice. I don't think it made much difference with the flavors but the kids were turned off by it and refused to try. Then again, kids are sporadic and we can never truly tell what appeals to them. The mango was not ripe but this was back in March when mangos were not in season. Great balance of curry flavor with perfectly cooked veggies & rice. Red Curry with Tofu - Creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced. The tofu soaked up all the delicious curry and it came with plenty of fresh veggies. Green Curry with Tofu - A close rival to the red curry & had just the right amount of heat Pad Kee Mao with Tofu - the drunken noodles were a hit with everyone at the table Pad Prek with Tofu - veggies were crisp & packed with flavor. A little oily for me but still delicious! All the spice levels are customizable. The portions were as expected. Peak Thai is also VERY vegetarian/vegan friendly. They don't use fish sauce or oyster sauce in most of their dishes and everything is customizable since it's all made fresh to order. I'm torn on this place. I love the chicken salad here but that's about it. I ordered Tom kha with tofu and it was foul. I was not expecting the tofu to be fried with a rubber-y texture. The broth base was good and it was PACKED with rubber-like tofu... I had to remove all the tofu for it to be edible and essentially ended up with just broth. I didn't know it was even possible for tofu to be tough/rubbery. Disappointing. The shrimp tom yum was mediocre and contained very little shrimp. Brand new Thai spot that opened up between two heavy hitters (los burritos & ghareeb nawaz). As I had come to learn, they had only been open two weeks so definitely still working through some kinks in process, but overall I'll say the food was very good. Hands down the best I've had that's near by us in the western suburbs. We were able to snag the last table available on a weekend night. Yay us! For food, we tried our usual pad thai & pad see eiw w/ beef that we order at every Thai restaurant we go to. Both were good size portions for the price and hit the spot. The pineapple fried rice was a huge hit with the little one, so no complaints there. The chicken satay was the sleeper. Nicely marinated and spiced, and the side of peanut sauce was a perfect pairing. For myself, I ordered the crispy catfish curry, one of their special dishes. The name is a bit misleading as I don't believe there's actually any curry in the dish, but regardless it was a delicious stir fry dish that the entire table just about finished. As I had mentioned, being a new spot they're definitely still working through some kinks in the process (I think there's a bit of balance going on between getting both to-go and diners orders out). Our order of tom kha soup never made it out, but they did end up boxing it up for us to take home free of charge and were very apologetic which was a nice gesture. Peak Thai is competing for a slot in my top ranked Thai restaurants, and Thai food might be my favorite of all. Both dishes were simply outstanding! The Panang Beef (more of a soft brisket than anything) was so flavorful, the beef was tender and delicious, and the bell peppers and green beens were the perfect amount of cooked yet still crunchy. The curry itself was rich and flavorful, perfect level of spice. The chicken pad see eiw was also phenomenal, tons of vegetables and I could taste the garlic and Thai spices. Dressing for the cucumber salad did not coat the whole salad, so on the top there were just "cucumber". And chicken was dry. It felt like frozen chicken lost its juice after thawing. I could still enjoy it, but I had better before. Shrimp roll - 5 stars We loved it! Especially the basil leaf that was rolled up with shrimp inside. It added a nice kick to the flavor. Shrimp was soft and juicy. Even the tail part was crispy outside and soft enough to bite through. This was the meal of the day for us this time. Peak Thai noodles with chicken - 3.8 stars. I liked the gravy sauce, and the flavor piled up as I kept on eating. Broccoli and baby corn held the sauce really well and I was happy to have a lot of them. The noodle was crispy and matched with the sauce really well, but the portion was a little small for the price. Negative side was chicken, again. Same as the chicken satay, the meat was not chewy but dry. I cannot tell that's from the quality of the meat or how they preserved it? I do recommend vegetable stir fry over the chicken here. Garlic noodles with vegetable stir fry - 4 stars. The garlic flavor was nice and strong and vegetables were yummy. But I thought there was not much "punch" in the flavor. It's enjoyable, but ordinary unfortunately. The lady who served us was nice and friendly. And it was a pretty quiet place for chat even though there were several customers dining. No music was played. And it was easy to find and no problem to find a parking spot. As a whole, my score is 4 stars out if 5. I would love to take vegetables and shrimp choice over chicken here. It had pieces of Chinese Broccoli in it and wasn't overly sweet. The pad thai was a bummer. No crushed peanuts, no carrot slivers or purple cabbage or baby corn. It came with 1 lime that I sqeezed the crap out of to give it some flavor. I had to ask for red chili sauce to help it. I was excited to hear this place now offers halal options. The entire menu isn't halal, but it's still awesome to have halal options similar to J's Kitchen in Naperville. Peak Thai is located in a strip mall on Roosevelt near Meyers Rd. Parking was good enough. The interior is kind of small, but they managed to squeeze in 8 tables of varying sizes. Not ideal for large groups. It was busy when we went for lunch and pretty loud. There was only one lady taking orders and serving when we got there, so it felt understaffed, which is an unfortunate circumstance of modern times. We ordered very quickly before it got any busier. We ordered Pad Thai with beef and pineapple fried rice with chicken. It took about half hour for the food to come out, but understandable. They were kind enough to apologize for the delay, but not their fault. Fortunately two other workers arrived right around the time our dishes were served. They were generous with the amount of chicken in the fried rice. Veggies were somewhat on the sparse side; they should have added broccoli or something. The pineapple was yummy, but overall the dish was kind of bland. Thankfully they offered hot sauce on the side. My wife really liked this dish. Interestingly, the Pad Thai was on the sweet side. I didn't know it was supposed to be sweet. My wife and son didn't really like it, but I quite enjoyed it. I do wish it had more meat, though.
