Nestled in a nondescript strip mall is an oasis of a hair salon. It is befitting that it is called New Oasis Salon For $15 my hair was professionally cut by Sandy. It wasn't a "rushed" haircut. You can tell that she has been working with men's hair quite a while. I received a $50 haircut (Los Angeles Salon prices) for a fraction of that amount plus she deftly trimmed my eyebrows. I found this place by accident. I usually get my manicure/pedicure at Fulton Nails. I also wanted to get an eyebrow wax done there but since there was a weekend mad rush of customers, they told me I had to come back. Big bummer. Luckily, New Oasis Salon was next door and I gave them a try instead. Tina (owner) was awesome. I have to say, she did a WAY better job waxing and shaping my brows than when I got them done at the Benefit Brow Bar at Ulta. A few months later, I decided to come back to New Oasis for a hair cut. I returned due to both the kind service and the compliments I received on my last cut! A shampoo, cut and style is more than affordable! This was the second time I had my hair washed, cut and styled by Sandy, and it was just as great as the first. Sandy is a warm, friendly woman who knows what she is doing. I have long, thick grey hair that can be a challenge. She deftly trimmed off a couple of inches, leaving me with beautiful long layers. I am unable to wash my hair due to unusual radiation burns to other parts of my body. I called and asked how much they would charge just to wash and condition my hair. Not style, not cut, not blow dry, not deep condition, just plain wash and condition like any individual would do in the shower. I also stated I would bring my own shampoo and conditioner. All the great reviews listed, got me excited to call. If zero was an option, this is what they would get. I have to question these previous reviews after what I experienced calling and speaking with Tina (owner). Two of them are from Los Angeles which to me is suspect. Maybe Tina has ties in Los Angeles. I was quoted $25 for short hair and depending upon my length (and I have hair past my shoulder blades) more like up to $45. I couldn't believe what I heard. Yelp has rated this $ instead of $$ (with places like supercuts, cool cuts, etc). 1st of all, based on the prices that were quoted to me, I believe yelp has rated this salon incorrectly. It should be listed as $$ not $ based my phone conversation with Tina (owner) yesterday. There is one review that states he was charged $15. The stylist must have just barely touched the hair based on what Tina stated she would charge me just to wash. I thank Tahn (spelling??) at Supercuts in the Marketplace off Santa Rosa Avenue by Sally's Beauty Supply, Ulta, etc). She charged me under $10 and I did bring my shampoo and conditioner. I will definitely be purchasing my hair products from this store because of their generosity. She also will be performing this task 3 days a week until I heal (which will be a while). Again thank you Tahn and thank you Tina for your rude behavior and price gouging which helped me find Tahn. read more
